Came in town for a special 99th birthday party of my mother-in-law. Ordered moros, lechon, yuca, croquettas and maduros. Everything was delicious! Lechon was tender, yuca and maduros tasty and oh....the moros and croquettas were out of this world. The servings were huge as well with many leftovers for people to take home. It is a local business. It is bustling and you seldom hear English. On the other hand all were very helpful to me, and I do not speak Spanish. Ate breakfast there on four or five morning, empanadas, crokettas, all fresh, freshly pressed oj coffee. All delicious. They also had other Cuban traditional breakfast items, which I have not tried. What a terrible experience. I came by this bakery on Dec 24th... my family and I had a hankering for some Cuban bread and ham croquettes and we are still looking for a good Cuban style bakery near our house. We decided to try this one out as it is just blocks for our home. Big mistake. I can't say if the food is any good...quite honestly I was never able to eat the food...because the service was so atrocious. First off the lines for service are long....long. And there are two lines with no signage as to what the lines are for. We stayed in one line for twenty minutes before we got to the front and found out it was the pay line. They do not give food in the line we were in...but the guy in front of me they made an exception for and gave him 4 bars of Cuban bread...so what am I chopped liver? And the lady gave us an attitude and everything! At this point I am so close to just leaving but I stayed because I really wanted some croquettes. So I go into the next line and wait 10 minutes before I can be helped and I am told that I would have to go back into the pay line after they give me the food! Are you kidding?!?! Their tostadas are not that great, you have to specify the amount of butter and crunch you'd like otherwise except warm buttered bread. I am new to homestead so I wanted to get my Cuban fix satisfied, so I tried Cuba Bakery out and it was disappointing. For Sunday 11AM it was empty (and now I know why) so service was pretty quick! I asked for Cuban bread a pastelito assortment (with queso, guava and guava/cheese) and the pastelitos were tasteless. Maybe I am just spoiled since I am used to Cuban bakeries in the heart of Miami, but I honestly wished this place would be better! The bakery attendants were very friendly! I was in town for work and stopped in for some breakfast pastry and desserts. I tried my best to speak a bit of Spanish and the woman helping me was extremely gracious and helpful. The pastalitos were outstanding especially the guava and cheese. I also bought some desserts (tiramisu, cheesecake and flan) which were all outstanding. I bought 12 pastalitos and 6 desserts for $20! They make something utterly special here...craveworthy...unique. It's a delicious two layer cheesecake-flan that is 4 inches tall and unbelievably better than anything over at the c-cake factory. If you remember that flan de queso at Lila's on Bird Road, (RIP Lilas), you'll know the rich kind of flan that is one of the layers, and married to a cheesy custard of nystyle cheesecake with the caramel syrup over all. It's surely enough to feed 20, or 10 sweets lovers, so don't fret at the price. I have purchased a couple of the basic rum cakes over the past year, and it always gets raves from birthday guests as the best they've ever had. It has a flavorful rum soak that is twice as creamy and rummy than anything at that famous wedding lady cake's shop (you know the one, who also sells at Winn-Dixie). Think moist versus dry, and you know why this one is superior. It's also creamy tasting, and to me, seems like a cross between a Tres Leches and a rum cake though I doubt it has cream. The icing is delicious, and generously thick, too. Service wise, they are brisk and friendly at the same time. I often come in when they are helping another patron, and don't mind waiting, as they give you undivided attention until your transaction is complete. Would recommend to anyone, for a pastry and coffee (or single slice), to catering a party. read more

One of my favorite places to get a cafe con leche! They are very good with serving their customers and getting each person in and out quickly. They have a $5 minimum for credit/debit cards.
