Cigars are pricey. Much has to do with California taxes but places like Liberty Tobacco and Cesar's pay the same taxes yet manage to have lower prices. No spirits, only beer and wine. Excellent selection of Belgian ales in bottles. The Guinness on tap is usually fresh because they sell a lot of it. I would be wary about ordering wine here. The experience here depends largely on the bartenders. Two are great. One so-so. One is terrible: has a bad attitude and a filthy mouth. If I see she's working, I head back out the door. One bartender is pleasant enough but uses a stick to scrape the head off a glass of a beer and then puts it into his back pocket. That doesn't seem like a sanitary practice. There are a few places to have a drink and grab a smoke along this street. The lounge here is spacious, comfortable, well ventilated. They serve a variety of beers, and wines. I opted for the standard Guinness, and it was poured right. The selection in the humidor is very good. They have pretty much all the Fuentes, and Padrons. Now , if you look carefully, and above the shelves, you may spot something rare and interesting. While I was there, they had about 5 bundles of Tat Pork Tenderloins. I moseyed on to the bartender and asked him about it, and he graciously went up there to fetch us a few sticks. I reckon you can find some rare smokes here if you ask kindly. read more

I will start with what I liked. The decor was nice and classy. The humidor was decently stocked with a selection of sticks I like. What I didn't like? I was picking somebody up from the airport, and was at another cigar lounge 30 minutes north. They were closing at 9 p.m. and my buddies flight was going to be 12:30 a.m. Someone at the previous cigar lounge suggested this place, saying they're open until 12:30. Perfect. Close to the airport, I can smoke and chill (forgot Netflix!). I called first, to make sure. The guy on the phone said they were open until 12:30 but if it's not busy they close at 11. Okay, that's fine. I figured I'd go get something to eat after that. The guy at the counter was friendly enough. I bought a house stick (which was a decent smoke, even if a few bucks more than it should've been). And at 10:40 a.m. he tells me "You have 5 minutes and then we close." I didn't want to get into a big stink over it (no pun intended), but 15 minutes earlier than what I was told -- well, I don't want to toss half my cigar away (I am a cheap bast**d). So at 10:45 p.m., I stand in the cold, outside, with homeless people, and drunk frat boys, walking all around. Not the best cigar smoking vibe. If I'm back downtown, I'll give them another chance. read more

This is a nice spot, and I really enjoy going. I am a big fan of Churchill's and Old Town, and when I moved downtown I was looking for a new spot that I could support. Something that I really enjoy is that there is excellent people watching in downtown from outside of this cigar place, and with the doors open, it doesn't feel as stuffy as you might imagine considering that it is an indoor establishment. They have a great selection of cigars, and I was surprised to see that they are still carrying Tatiana... I thought that you couldn't get those anymore in California, you certainly can't get them anymore at Churchill's. Their pricing is reasonable, and their services excellent. The cleanliness of the place is pretty good as well. I have met a lot of travelers here, including people from Brazil, people visiting from Ireland, lots of convention center people. If that is your jam, then you can have a great time here! Because this is a very central location to downtown, it can potentially get busy depending on which convention or bachelor party is in town. It is usually not difficult to find seating here on normal days however. read more

It was a cold and rainy day in San Diego. Yes, I said cold and rainy. December 2022 in San Diego was 50 degrees and rainy so finding a nice cigar bar to smoke was the mission. This is a cigar bar with comfortable chairs, sports on the screen and nice people working. The people working here are low key and really do not bother you while you're relaxing. If you need help picking a cigar they will give you pointers. You can bring your own cigar also, which I always do. I carry my favorites and purchase wherever I'm smoking. I believe in supporting local shops. This place is very relaxed and exactly what you would want in a cigar bar. Next time I'm in San Diego I will be back! read more

We are visiting San Diego and we happen to be here during the much needed rain storm. We wanted a place that was warm and dry and my husband enjoys a nice cigar and I enjoy a glass of wine. This place absolutely provided all of the above. The ambiance is warm, tranquil (jazz playing), low lit lights, separate seating areas that create small squares for conversation or you can grab a seat at then bar itself. They also had the heater on, so it was nice to get out of the cold and take off our jackets and just relax. I also appreciated that we stopped in on a Monday night and they had football on. My husband Carrie's his own cigars but also is a firm supporter of local business. He picked up a madero patron to smoke. I choose to have a glass of Zinfandel. They were out of the Federalist Zin, but the manager offered an alternative solution and offered a tasting of two wines so I could selected what I would like. I went with his alternative Zinfandel recommendation. While the by the glass wine list is relatively short, it still has a nice variety of selections within both Red, White and Port offerings along with full bottles also available. They also serve beer. It was a fairly quiet night in the Cigar bar (which was perfect for us) and we came in about 10 minutes before a shift change in the store managers. While in San Diego in the future, I would definitely come back again. read more

I came here about a year ago and had a lovely experience before walking over to watch a ballgame. Yesterday's experience was far from what I remembered. The bartender/cashier was a total prick. I'm not sure if he's the owner but he is an arrogant a$$ho!e that shouldn't be working a customer facing job. I came here with my girlfriend too smoke a cigar. She doesn't smoke cigars but still wanted to partake in something she might enjoy. She asked for cigars with wood tips (she couldn't remember the name) and the guy said "we don't sell that cheap shit here). This despite the fact they do indeed sell those there and had them in display behind the cash register. He further proceeded to tell me to switch my preferred cigar, a Connecticut leaf since we were going to go eat pastries afterward and I wanted a lighter flavor profile. His tone and comments were rude and arrogant. I didn't need his recommendation, I knew what I wanted, and I nor my girlfriend wanted his opinion in regards to what she was comfortable with to try and enjoy some time with me. I was fairly intimidated walking in here today. I had never purchased a cigar or knew how to smoke one, I was clueless. Walking into the cigar room, I was followed by the owner who ID'd me (thanks for that btw, very sweet) and asked me if I knew what I was looking for. He most likely noticed I had no experience with this. The owner kindly explained the difference with all the cigars and showed me the best cigar someone should try for their first time. I loved how well he explained everything and even told me what to try next time if I enjoyed it. Cigars were purchased, cut and lit. Before I knew it, I was already a pro. The ambiance in here was beautiful. Calm, chill, football game on one tv and Star Wars on the other. The entire experience was very memorable, especially it being my first time! I was in town for a conference at the convention center, which is a 2 minute walk from this wonderful establishment and the surrounding bars. I stumbled upon the Cuban Cigar Factory the first evening I was in town. I enjoy Cigars, and the icing on the cake was it they also were able to serve beer and wine at this location. Given that I was in San Diego, I wanted to maximize my time outdoors. Fortunately, they have an outdoor seating area in the street since the street is closed to traffic. This is perfect for people watching and enjoying your smoke outside. The cigar selection was good, and I had a Montecristo number two, Arturo, Fuente, and avo. This reminds me, no, I did not have all three of those in one day, rather, I was so impressed my first visit that I returned the next two days I was in town. For drinks they serve beer and wine although they do have a sister shop just a block away that also has a liquor license. I stuck to beer and drank Stella, and I appreciated that it was poured in a proper glass. They seem to also have a good wine selection as well as port. read more

Gonna give it a solid 4.5* rating for the house cigars alone. Small but good beer selection, great seating, and good service and company. Got a chance to enjoy CCF during Valentine's/Super Bowl weekend, and loved to be able to sit outside and people watch. The house blend cigar was quite exceptional. While there is a guy out front that is hand rolling, #IYKYK that a rested cigar is a happy cigar. My roll wasn't too loose or too tight. Had a great and even burn, and transitioned well enough to make it to the final third. While not my typical hangout spot, definitely would be a great place to go to when downtown. read more

I waited all week to find a cigar place downtown to unwind with my wife. Our date night and some time to ourselves without the kids to just talk. We were immediately greeted by a man who was more than kind and friendly. We got a smoke and ordered a drink and sat at the bar. I forgot my cutter and was asked by a lady to cut it for me and before I got the words out of my mouth to ask for a straight cut she had already handed it back to me with a v cut. Which I thought was a little out of the cigar etiquette but no big deal right? It was a nice atmosphere. The game was on and we were talking but in front of us was the bartender lady, chomping on a burrito and every now and then yelling out profane words that would stop us in our conversation. I guess her team wasn't doing well. She was slamming cups around and often circling to go back to eating her lunch, pretty much in front of my face. Overall I thought the bartender lady was a little unprofessional and.... well... a slob. It was a nice place nonetheless. Plenty of beer, wine, and other non-alcoholic drinks like sodas. Hands down one of the best cigar bars I have been to in the US! The space is very open and it has a cool vibe. Good music in the background, dark wood and good seating with a good looking bar. One drawback, is that they only serve beer and wine, but of that, they have a very good selection. However, they make up for that, because they didn't require a cutting fee, as long as I made a beverage purchase! The humidor was well stocked and the prices were relatively reasonable.
