AWARENESS: My son and I recently stayed at MCAS Miramar and as you may (or may not) know, I enjoy my cigars. When I saw Royal Cigar was located not too far from the bases main gate, I made it point to check it out. NARRATIVE: Walking in to the lounge, directly to the right behind the main door you'll find their humidor with lots of smokes to choose from. Just prior to going in to the humidor, I was greeted by David, who explained a little about the lounge and their bar set up. After grabbing a few sticks, I may my way towards the backdoor area where there was plenty of plush, large leather seats. David came over shortly and asked if cared for an adult beverage and I settled for a sour beer. Royal Cigar Lounge has a very casual atmosphere and what made my time there so enjoyable was not the cigars I purchased but rather, the one on one, polite, and very knowledgable conversation David and I had during my short stay. You can have a great store. Filled with lots of great cigars and alcohol and peace but, what changes the ordinary to extraordinary is that extra of a good host like David. Me and my friends have been coming here for years and are usually waited on either by David or by H. These guys are awesome plain and simple. They have a fantastic wine and beer selection on tap and also have one of the best cigar selections I've seen locally. For years I've been an Oliva and an Ashton guy, but these guys have a solid selection of Padrons, Davidoffs, My Fathers, all of which I've lately become more accustomed to. Their humidor is massive and very well maintained. Beautiful lounge with an ethereal atmosphere. Beautiful giant walk in humidor with a pretty good selection. Customer service (I unfortunately didn't get the Gentleman's name) was superb. I will definitely swing by again. Was very nervous about buying a few cigars when I did not have a my travel humidor and not projected to be at home for several hours. However when I rung my cigars up, the gentleman had placed them into a travel zip bag with a Boveda pack. I was instantly filled with gratitude. The only hit I would give is that the boveda pack used was a 72% RH pack and not a 65 for a small poly zip bag. But it's easier to dry cigars out than over humidify, so it's not a big deal. First time coming here. I wanted to purchase a humidor for my boyfriend as a surprise. I had no clue on which kind or style to purchase. The person I worked with was really nice, they told me all about the styles and size options available. I decided to sleep on it for a few days and then went back to make the purchase. I decided on beautiful humidor with this Black and light beige grain pattern. I decided last minute to get him a cigar as well. They also helped me choose one as well, I knew the basics of what he liked. They helped me find the best one. The humidor is beautiful and it comes with a velvet cover to protect it. The humidifier is magnetic and sticks to the top of the humidor. It comes with a lock and key. The lounge itself is quite spacious and they have a pretty large selection of cigars. They also offer wine. He's very happy with the new humidor and the cigar. It was well worth the money for a diamond crown humidor. read more

I enjoy a cigar from time to time. Usually opting to smoke it in the privacy of my own backyard. I have never had a cigar in a lounge type setting until a couple of weeks ago. Accompanied by a long time friend. We both decided to go to one. My friend having been here a few times before recommended Churchill Cigar Lounge. To be honest. I was a little excited. Cigar smoking is a luxury that I don't do often but relish when I have the opportunity. This time was no different. Those who smoke cigars. Know that cigars come in different sizes from a small cigarillo to a giant toro. Cigar tobacco also have different strengths and flavors. I always go by rule of thumb. The darker the tobacco the stronger the cigar. The same goes with a lighter colored tobacco. The lighter the cigar the less intense the tobacco. As far as the taste. Just like wine grapes. It depends on the climate the tobacco was grown, the soil it was in, the water used, the type of tobacco seed used, how long was the tobacco aged, etc. A lot goes into a fine cigar. It definitely is a art. The overall vibe walking into Churchill was of happy people enjoying cigars. Light conversation followed by laughing. Felt pretty welcomed as I quickly looked around. I was too young at the time to frequent bars when smoking was permitted. I kind of feel it was something like this. The lounge itself looks upscale with low comfortable leather chaIrs and solid round wood tables. Lots of dark wood and glass through out. A varnished wood bar with tall leather bar stools. Behind the bar is a wine drinkers dream with beers on tap from Guinness to Stella Artois to Alagash White. Great beer selections. The star of the show though is the walk-in humidor. The humidor is huge. It takes up about a third of the cigar lounge. The biggest I have ever seen. Every cigar you can think of at every price point. I felt like a kid in Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory. The inventory is just staggering. Picking a medium Romeo Y Julieta and pairing it with a nice lager beer. I sat down and proceeded to smoke my cigar. One thing I didn't foresee was going to a cigar lounge. The decision was the spur of the moment so I didn't have my cigar cutter and lighter. No problem. They will cut and light for you any cigar you purchase. The customer service is stellar. Sitting there with my friend enjoying our cigars and alcoholic drinks. My friend had a glass of burgundy instead of beer. We talked, watched a little TV and got to know some regular patrons. Overall it was relaxing time and left happy. I've been coming here a lot more since Covid has slowed down and they're back to being open. It helps that David and H...are both great employees. At least a half dozen lounges in the area where you can find the same sticks anywhere from $5-$10 less per stick! I suspect the prices reflect the environment they are looking to create rather than actual fair value. If you want to impress someone by spending a lot on a cigar, try this place out.
