There will be no disappointment when you hit up Cuban Coffee Queen. The downtown location is conveniently located in the middle of town. We always ride our bikes in and park them out front. They offer about 8 picnic tables for you to sit and enjoy your food and/or coffee at. They do have a few seats at the bar, too. My wife is an avid coffee drinker, and she swears by their cafe con leche. We probably get 3-4 during our week-long trips. It's always worth the trip. Onto the food--the cubans really know how to cook up some perfect bread. We order it every way it comes. If you're feeling really hungry for breakfast, you can't go wrong with the Key Wester. The cuban bagel may be my favorite on the menu. It is a cuban bagel with cream cheese and honey. Trust me, it is as delicious as it sounds. Our last trip here, between the 4 of us, we ordered 6 different sandwiches. The biggest problem? Having to share them all with other people. How does it work? Walk up to the counter--you'll see the menu above the counter or in a pamphlet--place your order at the counter, find an open table or make new friends and sit with them, enjoy your coffee, wait for your name to be called for your order, stay seated--they'll deliver it, and ENJOY! The employees are nothing shy of incredibly friendly. Recently, the guy working praised both of my children for having such amazing manners while ordering. That was EXTREMELY disappointing. A Cafe Cubano is not that difficult to make. Nor should it be that difficult to order. I can't recommend Cuban Coffee Queen enough- the iced caffe on leche was good enough to make me come back two days in a row, and the prices were totally reasonable. Ok. For those who are NOT sandwich lovers, but keep seeing Cuban sandwiches in Key West, this is the place to try. I'm still reminiscing of how much I enjoyed the caliente Cuban sandwich. Let's start with the bread. It was toasted to perfection, chewy with a slight crunch on the outside. Since the sandwich is pressed, it felt like the meats inside were the star of attention, not the bread. The sandwich arrived pipping hot to the touch. Service was very fast. The roasted pork, ham, and chicken were perfectly roasted. Usually meats have a tendency to be overly salty and fighting each other . Not these, they were in perfect harmony. I love horseradish so the slight horseradish Mayo, tangy mustard, gooey ness of the melted Swiss along with the onions lettuce and tomato, made of a messy, yet savory bite. The combination kind of reminded me of a whopper with the Mayo, lettuce, tomato, and onions, Minus the bun and burger. I told my husband if sandwiches were made like this back home, MN, I'd eat these every day! He's always trying to get me to have sandwiches with him and I always pass. read more

Nestled in a little alley way under trees, it was a beautiful oasis and escape from the hot sun. I opted for an iced cafe con leche with sugar, and it was exactly what I wanted. We went to Cuban Coffee Queen from the recommendations of family friends. It's a walk up and order place. We both went with Key Wester's for a nice brunch. The sandwich is definitely much larger than it looks like in their pictures. It also came with plantain chips. I was stuffed and unable to finish all of mine. We also ordered coffees. They had great flavor, but they are very very strong. There is hardly any price variation between a regular and a large and would suggest going with a large if you are a coffee drinker. That's what we did and we found this gem nestled in the back of Duval Street in the Key Lime Square. The staff here will do whatever they can to make you feel valued and they are always super friendly. They even remembered us as being repeat customers each morning and offered us a punch card. Cuban Coffee Queen became our morning ritual for the five days we visited Key West and we loved every visit. Great Colada made to share, served in a cup with four individual shot cups for sharing the way I remember Cuban Coffee being served socially. Outside seating at the picnic tables under their roof in the outdoor air. They also offer delivery and have a full menu to choose from daily. Loved this place so much we came here three times on our short weekend trip. The coffee is amazing and the food is just as good. We came here for breakfast and ordered the Cuban breakfast sandwich with sausage. The sandwich came with chips and a sucker as well. Tried this cute place while in Key West. They had great reviews. We went there for breakfast and ordered off the lunch menu the Cuban Mix and Cuban Queen Mix with 2 coffees. Their coffee was really good. My man had the cafe con leche which was better than my coffee with vanilla flavoring. My man thought he didn't like Cuban food but he wanted another Cuban sandwich the following day. After a long late night out, I ordered delivery the next day and had 2 breakfast sandwiches with coffee delivered to our hotel. The breakfast sandwiches were basic but good. I did buy a couple bags of coffee from their shop which I haven't tried yet but their staffers that were bagging the coffee were very nice and helpful. We went for breakfast this morning and go the key wester and guava bread with a cafe con leche. It's great how they make the ice cubes out of coffee so it doesn't water down your drink. This trip to key west had made me realize any Cuban sandwich isn't as good without the Cuban Bread and that includes a breakfast sandwich. The guava bread was perfectly toasted with guava purée and cream cheese, it was a great compliment to the breakfast sandwich with CCQ hot sauce which also rocks. I have previously had items from CCQ and they were all delicious. However, none were food items, just drinks. While the drinks are fabulous, the food is just not there.
