So yummy we went here the both mornings we were in Key West. It may be a little hard to find as it is tucked in off the street but it can be accessed from Duval and also on Key Lime Square. Look for it, you will not be disappointed if strong rich coffee is your thing. The coffee was spot on which should be no surprise considering the name of the place. I drink decaf so I had it Americano, water added as well as milk and sweetener. As you may already know, decaf still has some caffeine and I still got a slight buzz. For my husband, the stronger the better so he got a blend of their dark roast and a shot of expresso! To those who think Starbucks is the best, you have no idea!!!!! (Personally, I hate the burnt taste!) I should mention we only tried the coffee hot as the weather was not conducive to iced. Florida was going to through a "cold" spell so 60 degrees required hot coffee. Since it was breakfast we chose the Cuban Sandwich with cheese and bacon. I really do not like a very heavy breakfast all that often and that one seemed to fit the bill. Yum. If you like there are many others to chose from. Since the place is open until later in the day lunch varieties are also available. I am sure they do a wonderful job with those too. Both the breakfast and lunch types are made throughout the day. We decided to take beans home since this was one of the best coffees we have had! When we walked toward the little merch shop next door we saw the cutest momma hen and her 4 day old chicks. Key West has chickens galore roaming the streets. I love the wild life! For me, this is my breakfast spot when I return to Key West. read more

That was one of the best sandwiches I have had in a long time. It was very reasonably priced and the staff was super friendly. The thing that really pushed this over the 4 star threshold was the iced coffee my wife got. She loved it and when it was finished she noticed that they had made the ice out of coffee so that as it melted the coffee didn't get watered down. Brilliant!! A friend recommended I check this place out. Came early on a Saturday for breakfast and coffee. Staff was very patient with me, explaining the menu. I had seen the Sunriser special on yelp, which I didn't see on the menu. But when I asked for it, they honored it. Half a Cuban sandwich and a Cuban coffee for $5.50. What a deal! They made my coffee right there and then offered to bring me my sandwich when it was ready. So I sat at a table nearby. Chickens were starting to congregate so one of the employees went around shooing them so they did not bother the guests or poop on the tables. Nice. I topped my delicious sandwich with their hot sauce. Yum! It was so good, I went inside the gift shop to buy a couple bottles. I saw a cute t-shirt too. The staff asked me to try it on, warning that sizes were running a bit small. What a nice thing to do- I ended up going up a size! The shirt was expensive- $30. But the hot sauce was reasonable, approximately $7. This place is tucked in behind some businesses in an alley way. Easy to miss. But once you go through the alley, under the trees, it's easy to escape reality. I will certainly come back for another coffee and sandwich. Thank you! read more

If you're a coffee fan and you're in Key West, look no further. I've had a lot of coffee in my life but this is some of the best I've ever tasted. The cafe con leche is to die for. Their coffee is unbelievably smooth, and the steamed milk really adds a delicious touch of sweetness. The iced coffee is also fantastic. Everyone is saying it, but I'll reiterate it: the coffee ice cubes in the iced coffee are fantastic. No more watered down coffee! Hooray! The food is fantastic here as well. The Havana rice and beans are perfectly salted and so tasty - I recommend them with either the fried egg or the braised beef. I also tried the key west chicken salad sandwich which was one of the greatest chicken salads I've ever had; the mango is such a delightful touch! Oh, and the Cuban bread...wow. So buttery and crisp. The atmosphere is so quintessentially Key West, which adds to the entire experience. I love the colorfully painted tables, the island music, and all the roosters running around the property. We came here yesterday after breakfast just to try the iced coffee, and saw their super menu and awesome retail store with cute tees, mugs & other coffee related items including lots of freshly roasted & ground coffee! Love this place! My husband had gotten a sandwich and iced coffee here the day before but the next day the 4 of us went for breakfast. I got the Key Wester-eggs, bacon and cheese on pressed Cuban bread (yea, I really forgot about trying to eat gluten free and dairy free on this trip) and it was so delicious! I had the choice of a banana or plantain chips to go with it-oh and they always give you a dum dum sucker-how fun! I also had the coffee con leche-cuban coffee with steamed milk. Loved it. They have a retail shop with cute tees, coffee, etc to purchase. They also deliver, too bad they don't deliver to Tulsa Oklahoma! The people that work there are really friendly.
