Their menu had a lot of enticing items, but I knew I had to order the first sandwich on the menu to know how great their cubano is. The 305 comes with a soft and tender roasted pork that complements the ham and other items in the sandwich well! The bread has a satisfying crunch that's easy to bite through. The one issue for me is that it's insanely greasy. This is to be expected with that amazing roasted pork but it's tough for me to finish the sandwich. Wow this place was great! I wasn't really sure what to expect since I've never had Cuban food before and knew nothing of what it would consist of. I came here for the Yelp Elite Experience and brought a friend with me so we could both have lunch. It was a first time here for both of us. The sandwich I got, The Ybor Original, had sooooo much flavor! Normally I'd be a little picky and probably get it without pickles, but I figured I needed the full experience if I'm going to try something for the first time. When this spot opened I was really exited because it's relatively close to home and I'm Cuban. Figured I'd have a good spot to pick up some authentic Cuban food. The food is good and noticed they've tweaked their recipes but still very good food. The main reason for the three stars and not four is because a few months ago I ordered a Mamey smoothie (batido de Mamey). Instead I got a watered down, warm cup of basically milk and Mamey. I didn't think much of it since their food quality is real good and didn't write a review. Two days ago around 7:20pm I went in to pick up some dessert that they have on display by the register. I picked up a flan and dulce de leche. Got home and noticed a burnt taste from the dulce de leche. I looked closer and noticed black spots that had to come from the bottom of the pot that the cook burned. Tried calling them while it was still open. Called about seven times and no answer. We wanted something light for dinner and looked up places around us via Yelp and noted Cubanidad was recently opened and decided to go for the empanadas. Upon walking into the restaurant, there is a big menu sign to peruse. Then we proceed to order in the front and was given a # to place on top of our table. The empanadas were warm and flakey...my favorite was the guava cheese, spinach and cheese, then the ham and cheese. We also got the vegan one. We tried the ham and cheese croquetas and what we really wanted was the cod but they don't have it here (yet). Then we decided to try the "305" and that was a big sandwich...so glad we shared. Both locations are excellent - the Henderson location is bigger with a full service restaurant where the Ft Apache location is more for takeout. The Cuban coffee is delicious. This was my first time having Cuban food and it was great! We found this place on Yelp through an event they were having and figured we would check it out. I got a traditional Cuban Sandwich which had the perfect amount of meat and great flavor. I made it a combo with fries and a drink and ordered one of their ham and cheese empanadas. The coconut pastelito is super flaky, sweet, and delicious; truly a unique flavor, and a must try! The ham and cheese empanada has that nostalgic breakfast flavor that you crave all night and think of all day! Last but not least, the Pan con Lechón is one of those sandwiches that has the right amount of flavor with its mojo sauce on top of roasted pork and chicharrón. The staff is extraordinarily attentive, the environment is clean and comfortable, the menu is wonderful, the food is fresh and cooked to perfection and the portions are large enough to fill me (6'2", 270lb). Upon arriving, the owner/manager saw us studying the menu and immediately asked if he could explain anything or help us. We thanked him and said we were good - and then we were dazzled by the options. I had the Pecadita Plate and The Boss had Garlic/Cilantro Shrimp, Cuban Beans and Rice with Grilled Veggies. I also ordered a Ropa Vieja empanada and The Boss had a coconut pastery. DELICIOUS! The food was seriously cooked to perfection, pork crisp on the outside and tender and moist on the inside. The plate was accompanied by a remarkable chimichurri sauce (I asked for extra after tasting it), a BBQ sauce and pickled onions. They make their sauces and food fresh and it is authentic. First time trying Cuban food so I kept it simple and ordered the 305 sandwich? My picture is horrible, don't mind it. It was yummy!!! The bread was soft and delicious. I was skeptical about the fries but they were good!! I tried their pineapple drink, I love pineapple and it tasted fresh and not processed. The sandwich itself is about $9 and to make it a meal with fries and a drink the total came to about $13 When I walked in you can see all the empanadas and I was tempted to try one but didn't. I swear I am going to petition for them to rename the restaurant "The Greasy Spoon" I ordered fries and they are always GREAT but the bag comes soaked in grease and I mean SOAKED IN GREASE. My fried pork was a little too dry on about half the pieces, but the Cuban rice and specialty sodas made up for it. The restaurant is very airy and relaxing, and another benefit of going in are the selection of baked empanadas and rolls available. While service was prompt, they did forget my cortadito at first. The food quality is really high here and it's not too salty so it was a perfect choice! We got a mix of platters: chicken breast, skirt steak, roasted pork and ropa vieja. All of them were tender and full of flavor. The Cuban rice is so good I could just eat a big plate of it for a meal and be perfectly content. We got both fried and boiled yuca which were each tasty. The side sauces they give have many great options. Next time I'm definitely checking out the homemade fries. I didn't order them because I thought "dude you can get fries anywhere." The sandwich was a bit too greasy for me, but still really yummy. We also got the croquetas were yummy too but a little too rich and a tad too salty for me. The outer layer was a nice crisp though. Finally tired this on a Sunday for dinner. The parking lot is usually pretty packed which keeps me away from stopping by but thankfully it was pretty empty. Ordered two sandwiches and an order of chicharrones. The 305 and the Havana tasted a bit similar- but they were both delicious! The pickle added a nice fresh crunch and the bread was soft and crispy in all the right spots. Tried this place for a Sunday early lunch and got the Pan con Bistec and Pan con Pollo. Both were FIRE! The steak was cooked and seasoned perfectly, and the chicken was tender and juicy. We also went up back to grab some empanadas and let me tell you... don't skip these. The Roos Vieja and the Shredded beef were so gas. The surprise was that the folks up at the front came by the table to tell us they started serving brunch with a plate of pancakes ON THE HOUSE! The atmosphere is so welcoming and everyone is so nice.
