Pros: America, in the office, is efficient and answers all questions quickly. We had a problem with the lock, Elvin (maintenance) was accessible and responded quickly. Hallways are clear, lights are motion censored, obvious climate controlled. Plenty of carts to use for your loads. Cons: America gave me a map of facility but such tiny print made it difficult to use. Simple reflective numbers as you round corners would be extremely helpful. The pad for access code, the hand sensor to open the door leaving, the elevator buttons, have all seen better days. America was busy in the facility and out of office when we arrived. The sign on door said 1245 return, almost hour and half later. Called the facility number, remote customer service bot, etc. America did call us about 20 mins later. Explained that when she is rounding, she can't be contacted by customer service (no beeper, cell, walkie-talkie) etc. That's an issue for customers needing assistance ie needing a lock cut off or someone needing a storage unit tour. My sister was clearing out her storage unit. We had movers scheduled. It was a smooth process after a rocky start. America is an asset to this facility. read more

Regarding 2647 N Western Ave, Chicago, IL 60647 It's an understatement to say my experience with your facility was horrific. There is no simple way to outline the nightmare of the single-day notice to terminate my contract with you, after 5 years. When I called to discuss evacuating the property at a moment's notice you forwarded my request to your legal team, refusing to discuss even that. No manager ever reached out to discuss issues related to the property. As had been requested numerous times. My contract was terminated without any reason provided. In person, the on-site manager stated was 3 years ago, nobody was to prop the door open. Which makes sense and never again be done. 3 years later I'm told the on-site manager has new issues, bringing up new arguments never before made. Requesting another manager to speak to, one would be calling me. Nobody did. Your on-site manager is unable to communicate even the most basic level of empathy or customer service and seemingly took great pride in her ability to have long term customers (having always paid on time) EVICTED. Disregarding 14 days legal notification protections for customers and so much more. Im thankful for having found the ability to get my belongings out before they were to be stolen by management. read more

I've been renting storage units for 15 years and I've never had an experience as bad as this place. Everything here is outdated. If your unit is on the second floor you need to take an antiquated elevator that barely works. The lights inside are always out. For the last 2-3 months the lighting outside my unit has been out. I've tried to tell someone but no one calls back. I've called 7-8 times over the last 2-3 months and heard nothing back. They are very overpriced and the employees are EXTREMELY RUDE and unprofessional. This is the worse storage experience I've ever had and I'm glad this is my last week with them. If you like poor conditions and bad service this is the place for you, if not I suggest you look elsewhere. read more

We have been in the storage unit for a little over 2 months and so far so good. The units are spacious and staff is on their game with safety and security. I did hear they had some issues with their last management company, by another patron who I met in the elevator, but all the issues have been resolved and they had nothing but glowing reviews with cure t management. read more

I've only had my 2 units at Cubesmart for a couple months. At first, they had a 35% off offer, which was an OK deal considering that just brought the cost to where other units were priced. Now, after just a few months, they notify me of a $40 per month price increase on each unit. That is almost a 20% increase. WTH! I have stage 4 cancer and broken back so I can't just move to another facility, but I will be gathering anyone I can to help me move out of there as soon as possible after reading their reviews on how frequent price increases are the norm for them. I found only 1 decent review for them and I'm certain that review company was paid for it, it was a company not an individual who had a unit there. This place should be investigated for price gouging and I saw where many people have filed complaints with several DA's calling for such. STAY CLEAR OF CUBESMART!!!! read more

The unit was reasonably priced, and I particularly enjoyed the professionalism and kindness of the staff. Great location. Easy, secure access. Plenty of cart/dollies as well. A bit of a maze if you're easily lost, but thankfully my roommates have a better sense of direction than I. read more

They jack up your rate within months!!!' Ask before you sign a contract when the rate hike is. They have to tell you I have since learned. You would probably just pay the higher rate elsewhere to be closer to your own home!! Only reason to rent here is for the cheap initial low rate. I have 2 storage lockers here. Just got my increase on the second. I want to say it's like 20% rate increase at month 6 but double check. PS. The staff is amazing. 5 star. They don't control the prices though. read more

CLOTHING MOTHS! I have been dragging my feet about writing this review because the entire experience here was so horrible. DO NOT STORE YOUR THINGS HERE. I put my things in storage for over a year while my life took me elsewhere. When i came back to retrieve my things, I found that this seemingly nice, climate controlled, clean place, was NOT what I thought it was. My rugs, my sweaters, and most of my nice things had all been infested with moths and larvae. There were holes in my sweaters and holes in my rugs and little dead moths on EVERYTHING. The staff told me they had "never seen any moths or moth damaged items" in the facility before. I didn't have moths before I put my stuff in storage and now I did have moths... The ceilings of the storage units are wire cages at this facility so moths from other units can easily fly in and make themselves at home - not exactly what I intended when I put my things in storage. About $1800 worth of damage was incurred to my items (not including the thousands of dollars I paid in rental fees for my unit). After much followup and aggravation, Cubesmart reimbursed me less than one third of the damages and gave me no break on the actual price of the unit. Bottom line - if I had intended to throw out 80% of my sweaters, I wouldn't have paid to store them in the first place. Clearly, this facility has a moth problem. If you are storing anything made of natural materials, I advise to think twice before renting here. (The staff here was very nice, especially Kenny, who was very helpful while I was losing my mind dealing with this. But nice staff won't save your stuff...) read more

Recently my father and I embarked on a multi day cleaning and organizing of his storage locker. During the 3 days we spent there the entire CubeSmart team was very accommodating if we needed to borrow some office supplies -- like scissors -- during the process. Highly recommend them as a safe, clean, secure site for your storage needs with a high level of customer service as well. read more

Had a great experience getting a storage unit at Cube Smart. I called and set it up, they answered all my questions and were really friendly. When I got here, Bill met me and had everything ready. I had my insurance company send over my policy info in advance and he had it ready to go so we could set things up when I got there. He gave me a tour of the facility before I signed up and showed me the unit I had rented. He was nice, friendly and answered all my random questions. We went back to the main entrance, set up the locker. Since I was a little tight on time, he allowed me to start moving stuff in while he set up a little of the paperwork. There are multiple places to unload items at the facility, The unloading dock has a ton of carts and you can back in and easily unload from a car. It is raised, with about a 3 foot landing space between the garage doors and where cars can park. Be careful (although very clearly marked) the garage doors will auto shut after a few minutes and you need to make sure things are outside of the doors (this is not hard to do, there is plenty of room). The space is clean and climate controlled. I have a spot on the first floor, which is great and makes loading and unloading really easy! The locker was 'broom clean', but still a little dusty on the bottom (nothing major). Once you sign up storage units are available to be accessed from 6AM to 10PM daily and there are tons of security cameras around. Overall, good experience so far. Oh, and if you have a friend that is already there you can give them a referral bonus (equal to 1/2 of your monthly rent - really nice deal!). read more

It was easy to reserve and rent a storage unit at CubeSmart. The location is great and the staff is helpful and accommodating. Bill explained the process of leasing the unit and outlined the terms. He also helped with figuring out the size of unit needed for my things and mentioned that I could change the unit if needed. He showed me the property and units available before signing the lease. The center itself is safe, clean, and secure. Access is easy for storage units and there are carts and elevators which makes moving things simple. The day of the move, Bill helped the movers find the unit and made things much easier for all of us. I would recommend this location given my experience here thus far. read more

Had reservation for move in on a Sunday. Myself and the moving truck arrived about 2 mins until close, too close I know, but I was still there before closing time to find no one in the office. They left early leaving me on a Sunday with movers and a truck full of furniture and no where to go. Called and the manager said, sorry we can't get you in today. ATTROCIOUS!! I had to scramble to find a place still open on a Sunday and was charged an extra hour of moving because they decided to close early on a Sunday. read more

I have been storing items here for over a year. The items I'm storing included an expensive wool rug and couch with down cushions. Recently when I checked on the items, I found that the rug and couch were infested with white moth larvae. Disgusting. The larvae had eaten the wool rug and the fabric on the couch. I never had this issue before so it must have occurred while the items were in storage. The ceilings of the storage units are not enclosed, but have wire cages over them. I imagine this results in moths flying from unit to unit laying their eggs. I had gotten this storage unit to store those two items and both had to go in the dumpster. What a waste. If you plan to store any items here that are made of natural fabrics (wool, cotton, silk, down, etc.) make sure they are sealed in plastic. read more

After purchasing a unit with CubeSmart auctions they hold the unit for two days for a tenant that did not show up and gave me my $900 back because they canceled the auction to wait for the tenant if the tenant shows up before I do they say they give the unit back they lie if the tenant does not show up they still take the unit they have no ethics beware read more

Great location off the 90 for anyone who lives near the area or prefers a well-maintained, affordable and secure storage facility. I transferred here after managing product/infrastructure at 2 other places in the loop for ongoing work-related activities and I am grateful for the upgrade in the convenience, superior management, excellent customer service, maintenance and everything in between that one might seek in a storage facility for temporary personal use or frequent work in-and-out activity. Great location for storage. Staff is super nice and the location is really clean and maintained. I've been at the facility for over a year now and when I started there it was just transitioning to the new CubeSmart management. I've seen many small improvements over the last year even though the location was nice to begin with. I've always felt pretty comfortable at the location in terms of security and there are usually carts available during non-peak times. Some of the docks can get busy at certain times but most of the time it has not been a problem. Pricing has been competative to other locations and they generally do give better pricing for lockers that are more out of the way versus easy dock access but that means that you can select some lockers that are closer to the dock and pay for it if you choose. read more

Service was excellent and in a very short time I was able to move my belongings from the larger unit to a more suitable size reducing my monthly cost. Excellent customer service and willing to help in any way. Fees are reasonable and the premises is clean and well kept. read more
