I had a unit in their climate controlled building, and it was, well, climate controlled. My only issue is administrative. There is no easy way to end a unit rental. Once upon a time, I bought a couch while I was living in an apartment, and didn't have anywhere to put it. We had just bought a house, but we were at that in-between time when you don't quite live in the house yet, but don't want to haul a couch up the stairs to your apartment (PIVOT, anyone?). I called Wendy, she had storage, I put the couch in the smallest unit she could rent me and it lived there for a month until I got into my house. It was a short, but sweet experience, and I swore to myself that if I ever needed storage again, I was going to call Wendy. Fast-forward eight years and I had cause to use Room to Spare again. Only this time, Wendy had no room to spare. I checked. I even asked if she'd let me move some stuff into her basement for a short time. I honestly think if I'd begged, she may have given in and let me store some things down there. She's just that nice. Wendy didn't have any storage for me, but was so sweet on the phone and explained to me why things are the way they are. In this market, people are selling their houses quickly and then have nowhere to go. They move into an apartment until they can find a place, but then have to put all their furniture SOMEWHERE while they are waiting. Hence, all the storage units are being used. So no, I didn't get to use Wendy's services. She did offer to put me on her waiting list, but my need was immediate and I was able to put into place a backup plan. Oh, I should also mention that when I was first looking into selling my house, I stopped into Room to Spare to talk to them about packing supplies and them helping me sell some of my crap that I didn't want to bring with me to my new (downsized) place. The staff is so accommodating and kind and patient. I swear, one day I'm going to need to store more stuff and Wendy is going to have a place for me to put my belongings where she and her little storage angels will keep close watch over them. And if by chance I make it through the next few years without needing storage, I might just stop in anyway and bring her a coffee. She's just the kind of gal you can't help but want to make your friend. (Wendy, if you're reading this, what do you take in your coffee?)

When I scheduled it I made it admittedly clear that they can't smoke cigarettes or weed while working with my stuff and they didn't listen. My stuff smelled like weed. Which upset me, I specifically stated I didn't want that around my stuff. When it was scheduled they were supposed to be at my home between 8:30-9:30am. Which they weren't, kept getting pushed back and back. They finally showed up at 6:45pm. The packing went ok up until them bouncing my washer, My dryer and freezer down the stairs. When they got to my new home my stuff reaked with the smell of weed. As they are bring in my family air loom dining room table one of the movers using the wrong bit to put in and most likely strip the screw in the table. They also lost the screws to my stand up freezer so I can't put door back on and lost thousands of dollars of food. Not to mention that my house and my garage smells like weed!! Definitely wouldn't recommend or ever use them again!!

They never stopped and worked like an organized well oiled machine. One was loading, while one took things apart and one playing tetris organizing in truck. Great business strategy that would allow me to highly recommend Fisher North American in Hamburg for your next move !!!

Thursday was packing day, and a crew of three arrived precisely on time and packed up our house incredibly quickly and efficiently. Friday was the actual move, and the crew was again punctual and efficient. They arrived around 9am and by 11:30am we were fully moved and unpacking. We did a virtual walkthrough a couple weeks prior to the move so they could give me a ballpark estimate, and the final price wound up being about $30 under the estimate; pretty damn close. The best endorsement I can offer: I had a remote meeting Friday morning as the moving started which I took in the backyard so I was out of the way. I kept seeing my husband wandering around out of the corner of my eye, so I muted my audio to see what was wrong. His response? "I'm bored. There isn't anything for me to do, they're just taking care of everything." They really went above and beyond -- helped bring a bulky arcade cabinet that we weren't moving up to the garage from the basement, and even assisted with arranging the placement of rugs in the apartment so they were sorted out before piling on furniture and boxes. When we got settled and unpacked in the new place we found not a single thing was broken or damaged. I was impressed that beyond their obvious competence everyone was extremely friendly and easy to work with. I would unhesitatingly recommend them to anyone looking for a painless moving experience.

I got quotes from a couple different companies, but Wayfinder stuck out. For price, and for the "value added" services that can't be measured. The homeowner insurance for our parent's policy was pretty comprehensive - so we were going to opt away from getting insurance through Bekin. Dale from Wayfinder asked us to confirm if all perils were covered - including if a Bekin representative accidentally damaged the contents. He was spot on - that specific peril wasn't covered- so we decided to add the insurance coverage. We never needed it - these guys were so careful, and everything arrived in great shape. A team of 4 guys came to moving day in Jamestown and each one was as nice as the next. One guy stayed on the truck to organize each box and item as it came onto the truck, one guy took care in itemizing each item as it was loaded, and two guys carried the stuff into the truck. From the basement, from the first floor, and from the second floor. No nicked corners, no problems. They understood that they weren't just moving "stuff". They were moving a life. They helped us settle up some of the remaining furniture into place since the full contents weren't being moved. I wish I could remember each of their names. I think Ron remained on the truck, and James did the diligent inventory work, but I may be wrong. They were all so kind. It was an emotional day for us all, and they were compassionate and professional. Brian, our driver, was there in Jamestown, and right on time at the designated time in Virginia. He was professional, and helpful. He brought Jose for the unloading part in Virginia. What a sweet man he was. Both Brian and Jose went out of their way to indulge all my - "this goes in my van" - and - "please take this from my van and bring it inside" and efficiently get everything off the truck and into the apartment. I never felt rushed as I went through the checklist and and made sure each box/item was accounted for. Back to Jose - not only did he notice that the bed would likely slide because it would be on hardwood floors - he recommended that we get little feet for the legs of the bed - but he noticed that one of the workers felt uncomfortable. She was leaving her shift at the facility - and the moving truck was near her car. She had plenty of room. But he asked if he could help - he stopped what he was doing - and he got her keys - and backed her car out of her parking spot -and away from the moving truck. So incredibly thoughtful. I would decidedly use them again. They get it.
