I believe we were their first customer (or close to) after opening. We had an arrangement for deliveries where during business hours they would give the key to the driver and give them access. There were issues that we tolerated in the beginning as we were dealing with construction at the new location. Later on, the issues expanded beyond construction. La'Mon Williams, the site manager often was not there or was otherwise unavailable during business hours. At least 6 times deliveries worth over 5k in merchandise were just left in the garage. Some of that blame goes to the delivery company but all of these deliveries happened during business hours. La'Mon didn't hold up his end of the deal (Concierge service during business hours). Later in the process, La'Mon hired an assistant. Then we had another delivery left in the garage. La'Mon later explained that was because he and his assistant went out to lunch . . . together. One of my employees left a negative review on this site and La'Mon complained to her that she shouldn't have left the review because the contract wasn't in her name. He was fine when another employee left a positive review and the contract wasn't in her name. He later complained to us about this employee saying that he was tired of her complaining to him about the shipments being left in the garage. He said that he didn't want to talk to her anymore. He said she had a speech impediment (She has a South Philly accent). He gave her the concierge key back and told her that if another shipment comes that he will just tell the driver to leave it outside. We just canceled the contract. We have four other Extra Space Locations with no issues at all: - 2 in Houston, TX - 1 in Sunland-Tujunga, CA - 1 in Gardenia, CA We just moved our Philly location to the Northeast on the Blvd. So far the experience has been good there. Too soon for a review though.

Dirty and poor service: Rodent infestation. This was not…read moresurprising after I saw trash and food in units near mine when owners opened their doors. Corridor floors dirty. When I went to file a rodent damage claim, was told the storage policy does not cover pest damage! Also, lights go out after 17 min and you have to go back down the corridor to turn them on if you need more time. Why no motion sensors? Elevator down button broken for at least three weeks and counting. Office often closed during regular hours. Prices go up substantially every six months. Bait and switch with initial pricing. Avoid.

When I came to get my stuff, I found that my boxes were damaged by rodents, and there were numerous rodent droppings in my storage unit. They chewed through the boxes and my items, and they left droppings everywhere. I had to throw away a lot of my items and throughly inspect and clean my remaining items, which was a monumental chore. When I contacted CubeSmart, they offered no resolution. They said that I would have to go through my insurance to get compensation even though insurance does not cover pest damage, and they refused to refund my rent. This is not a clean place to safely store your items!!

Remember, as a general rule, storage rental facilities are largely unregulated which means they can raise your rent with 30 days notice to pretty much any amount they want and they know they have you on the hook because you won't want to relocate your stuff. If you get a quoted price online, lock it in for six month or a year by pre-paying if you can. ALSO remember - you can get your own rental unit insurance from any number of companies for half what the rental unit companies will charge you and bring in proof of insurance at the time you rent (but you MUST do it in person). ALSO ALSO remember - you can also bring your own secure lock and not pay $20 for one of their locks. Do all of the above and any smart reasonable manager or employee is going to make your rental process smooth and painless.
