Food: I can't comment what I haven't tried. I came here for the grill whole fish which I use to benchmark their cooking. I would say it is average such that it's okay and authentically average, not comparable to what I had in some other places. Service: can't complain, I got everything I needed. Setting: it wasn't crowded when I came so it feels really nice. The tables are far apart which is a positive, because I hate it when I can hear other ppl conversation and have mine being heard so easily. Overall I would say this place deserves a 4 in my book. Highly recommend if you want authentic Szechuan cuisine. They also have sushi but did not try it this time. Definitely next time. Restaurant is refreshing decorated. Open with plenty of space between tables. Brightly lit and clean. Walked in and was immediately seated. Menus are easy to read with plenty of photos. We ordered the salt and pepper chicken wings and wantons in chili oil for appetizers and the Szechuan fish filet, mapo tofu, Dan Dan noodles and beef brisket in clay pot. All were cooked perfectly with the right of heat (spice). Sizable to share and absolutely delicious. Plenty for doggy bags. Big plus is ample parking in their own parking lot. Excellent Chinese food with extensive Szechuan options. The further you go on the South Shore, the harder it is to find high quality, authentic Chinese restaurants, but Cubist Circle has bridged that gap between my home and Boston/Quincy. Their dumplings are homemade and flavorful. The dan dan noodles are spicy and made perfectly, and I could taste the nutty sesame notes more prominently than the past few times I've tried this dish at other restaurants. I also enjoyed their pork with greenbeans and the pork with bean curds dishes as they remind me of homestyle cooking from my childhood. They also offer sushi on their menu, so that's nice if you're in a group or can't agree on takeout, but definitely don't miss out on their flavorful Chinese cooking! read more

While they have a great selection of food choices that cover the major Asian countries like a pan-Asian restaurant. The issue like other establishments that have a similar theme. While yes they have all the favorites, and they all taste well decent I guess. It's feels like they know a little bit of everything but not really being a specialist in cooking that cuisine, so the taste doesn't really stand out on anything, other than when my friends say, while do they use Japanese Panko on a Chinese dish or something Chinese in a Thai dish. It just doesn't sit right and at times doesn't taste right either, especially if they think that this is their way of fusion, it feels more like they didn't want a carry a huge inventory so they chose to combine certain things and that's the result. I've seen photos of this restaurant on IG for quite some time and the reviews were quite positive. So, I was excited to try it out. I went on a Saturday during peak dinner hours and surprisingly, it was dead. The function room downstairs was blasting music loudly like a nightclub and the quiet dining room couldn't contain the noise. The decor is clean and simple. The service was okay. Foodwise, I was not impressed. It does its job but there was nothing too special about it. The snow mountain maki has a shrimp tempura in it and it was over fried so it was not too enjoyable. The sweet and sour pork was hard. I think they might have fried it first to prepare for a busy night and then refry it when ordered, causing the batter to harden. The Dan Dan Noodle was the only dish I liked. There's a lot more tastier Chinese restaurants nearby to choose from like South Garden in Quincy which is approximately 10 minutes away. read more

DELICIOUS! Went here because my friend was craving Chinese food for her birthday. Photos looked good on their website so thought we'd give it a try. Parking lot was full but when we walked in the restaurant was pretty empty?? This worried us a little, but all worries we're diminished once the food came. WOW! We ordered: sweet & sour soup, veggie fried rice, chicken lo mien, beef broccoli, orange chicken, the cube sushi roll, and a sweet potato maki roll (for 4 people). SO SO GOOD! Absolutely cured the itch for Chinese food and we enjoyed every bite. The orange chicken was my favorite, full bites of chicken, not too much breading, and the sauce was flavorful and not too overpowering orange flavor. Kick of heat too. Delicious. They even brought two slices of yummy crepe cake out and sang 'happy birthday' to my friend. The waitresses were very kind. Overall, great experience. Will 100% be returning! read more

We're now regulars. Cubist Circle is where we go when we want the good stuff. The menu is unique and interesting and the preparations are delicious - the General Gau's chicken is fine, but I had no idea that pig kidney could be so delicious! The staff is really great, too. The bar might be empty, but they're happy to serve you so go on in. It's a nice place to hang out while deciding on take-out. I love all kinds of chicken wings and the Dry Pepper Chicken Wings are my favorite. My wife's a vegetarian and a huge fan of the Cumin Style Fried Tofu. Ordering broccoli? Brought my Chinese parents here and they also really enjoyed it :) - C7. Pickled Cucumber with Garlic (脆口黃瓜): crunchy and flavorful and refreshing! - A9. Pork and Leek Dumplings (韭菜豬肉水餃): Homemade pork and leek dumplings: I want to say we got the pork and leek dumplings since that is my family's go-to when ordering dumplings (but we must have asked for them to be pan-fried, as the menu lists them as steamed), but in any case they were absolutely delicious! - D8. Diced Chicken with Chili Pepper (山城辣子雞): So flavorful, so good. Not that spicy in my opinion but the perfect amount of kick! - E3. Dan Dan Noodles (成都擔擔麵): I LOVED this one!! Sooo good and yummy and flavorful, the noodles were the perfect texture, the sauce + meat to noodle ratio was generous and plentiful. Definitely recommend getting this one. - G8. I rented out the function room for my son's 1st birthday for a 50 person party estimate. The manager I spoke to was really friendly and the place seemed ideal and fit our budget. She told us as long as we hit the minimum with food and drinks, the room/event fee would be waived. We went ahead and gave them the deposit to book the room months before the event (we booked in December for the event in February). We set the date and let her know we'll need to arrive a couple of hours early to decorate and set up. She said okay. Throughout the time before the event, my husband constantly tried to get into contact with the manager to confirm other details for the event to make sure everyone was on the same page (e.g. menu selection, decor rules, cleaning responsibility, bar details, etc). It was extremely difficult getting these details. There was so much back and forth of phone tag. We would call the restaurant and the manager would never be there. So the front desk would need call the manager so she can call us back to answer any questions. No one else at the restaurant can provide the details for the function room. It was weeks of phone tag. We were finally able to place the food order a week before event. Fine okay. A few days before the event, I was being paranoid so I told my husband to call and confirm the event and the menu selection. Once again, it was a game of phone tag. We finally received confirmation the day before the event. It sounded like she had just put in the order in that night. Seemed extremely last minute in my opinion. The day of the event arrives. We had told them the event will start at 1pm when we first booked. They told us we can come to the restaurant when it opens to decorate but we cannot come earlier than that. Restaurant opens at 11:30am. My husband and SIL got to the restaurant around 12 to set up. The restaurant did not let them in to set up until 12:45. We had 15 minutes left before event. When they were finally let in, the place was a HUGE mess. Decorations from the previous event were scattered everywhere. There were confetti everywhere on the floor. Looked like nothing was cleaned or reset to prepare for my event at all. The restaurant and manager seemed completely unprepared for our arrival. My family had to sweep and break down all the previous decor ourselves. The restaurant was absolutely no help with that process. We had to rush to clean up and decorate before our guests arrived. The only good thing I can say was that the food was ready exactly at 1pm but how can we put out the food if the place was in a complete mess? They also did not provide warmer candles for the trays food so it was left out at room temp throughout the event. I understand that the restaurant would not help/provide decorations but I would assume they would have the room reset before we arrived. Now it's time to pay for event. They did not give us our deposit back or applied it to the final bill. The manager said the deposit was considered the room/event fee. But we were originally told that if we spent the minimum with food and drinks, this will be waived. We spent way over the minimum. So she basically lied to us. It was very unfortunate that we had such a terrible experience getting this event arranged. read more

Went for lunch and ordered a couple of the lunch specials. The specials came with soup and rice. The miso soup was o.k. but another thick soup (don't know the name) tasted horrible. It was so pasty...I guess because too much thickener (corn starch?) was used. The lunch specials were disappointing. The very small portions served were overly breaded and overcooked. The server was not very friendly and seemed annoyed when asked questions about the menu, even though it was not busy. Cubist Circle is one of the best Chinese restaurants I have been to in the Boston area! It is a bit of a drive from the city, but totally worth it especially for a larger group. There is plenty of seating space and menu options. I totally recommend their salted egg yolk ribs which are fried to perfection and SO addicting. As well as of their spicy fish and meat dishes. For dessert, make sure to try the 奶茶冰粉 (Milk Tea Ice Jelly) and brown sugar glutinous rice cakes. read more

New town, new food!! I chose this place on the way to hotel from work because The name just really grabbed my attention. The place is very minimalist with a very open floor plan, governmental like, as if it was formally a civic building or a rec center. The staff was very friendly and energetic. I ordered the Sichuan dumplings to start and I think they are the best I've ever had. Ambiance is cafeteria style in the warehouse style dining room, which echoes from the very high and imposing ceilings lack of furniture to the stark and unadorned whitewashed walls and white formica countertops and rigid table style seating. Might as well be in an empty stadium. Hey, why not give us a tray so we deliver it to ourselves? It feels like we should until the enthusiastic waitperson attends to us with great care and efficiency. They speak little to no English and have a hard time explaining the dishes. So what, I say? Eat like a local of the country instead! You might be pleasantly surprised. The Sushi bar is inviting yet empty. It does look fresh, clean and good as it's being set up, though. Give that a try!
