I was craving for some authentic Neapolitan pizza. After a quick yelp search, we came across this place. Turns out this is one of the only authentic places in San Diego. We were able to make a reservation quite easily online. As soon as we arrived, we were able to find parking without any hassle. Once we were at the restaurant, we were seated quite promptly. Since I was craving for pizza I got the Bufalina pizza. My husband got the white sauce, Italian sausage pizza. We both were really hungry and couldn't wait to dig in. The pizzas came out pretty quickly. The presentation was great. I did request for some marinara on the side. My pizza was absolutely delicious and authentic just like the pizza that I tried in Naples. My husband liked his pizza too, although the ricotta was a little bit sour. Tucked in the Nordic Villa shopping center is Cucina Caprese! We dont love too far and heard great things about the pizza so we decided to try it! The space is very homey and the staff is very nice. The space looked small but if you turn the corner, more tables! We started by listening to their specials and the watermelon salad caught our attention. As appetizers we ordered the salad and calamari. The salad was refreshing and the watermelon was sweet, just what we need during this heat! The calamari quality cooked perfectly and not greasy at all! Now for the stars of the show..the pizza! We ordered the Giordanina and the prosciutto pizza! Unfortunate experience ordering three Italian classics today. The margherita pizza was simply not flavorful--the crust had a decent chew, but was a bit undercooked and not seasoned. The paccheri a la norma, while possessing a good eggplant flavor, came with pasta that looked nothing like the menu picture and overall did not hit any noteworthy texture or flavor notes. Finally, I was hoping that the tiramisu, which looked tasty, would bump my opinion up a bit. Authentic Italian food!!! Came here on a Sunday at around 5:30pm and their pizza is fresh and delicious. To start we got the focaccia, which is essentially just the pizza dough baked, did a side of both garlic (which was spicy since it is raw garlic in oil) and marinara sauce which were both delicious. For pasta, we got the rigatoni bolognese, which was rich in flavor and yet light at the same time. We decided to get the mushroom pizza, which was good, however my husband wasn't a too much of a fan of the smoked mozzarella (I liked it!). First of all, the website has been hijacked, goes to some Korean site. Don't let that stop you from eating at this place, just don't bother clicking. You won't regret coming here. The food is great. It's mostly a pizza place, serving fantastic Neopolitan style pizzas. Light, chewy crust, puffy on the edge with just the right amount of char and a great flavor. Quality toppings too! Floppy in the middle, authentic to the style. So good! They also have a few starters (the Bruschetta was great) and a handful of pasta and secondi dishes as well. My coworkers and I were in SD area for a work conference and we Yelped for a restaurant nearby for dinner the next night. We called for a reservation for a large party of 10 (though only 8 were able to join) for the next evening. We were surprised at the amount of cars and people in the street as we were driving to Cucina Caprese, but it seems there was a Kane Brown concert at Pechanga that night. There is plenty of parking in front of the restaurant and we were welcomed as we stepped into the restaurant. There are poor acoustics in the restaurant (as another Yelper mentioned) so it was a bit hard to hear people at the other end of the table. 2 Focaccia (w/ garlic and side of marinara) 1 Calamari Fritti Marinara Sauce 1 Al Pesto Gnocchi 1 Bolognese Gnocchi 2 Porcini Ravioli 2 Bolognese Rigatoni 1 Alla Nerano Spaghetti 2 Babba 2 Cannoli 1 Creme Brulee 1 Tiramisu Large Party (20% Charge) The costs of the items were a bit high, especially for the portions, but I feel that is also on par with the times now. Their ingredients are from an Italian distributer as well. We had a few vegetarians and there was plenty on the menu for them to order from as well. Everything tasted delicious and we were all very full from our dinner. We were so full, but once Liugi mentioned the "off the dessert menu" item, Babba, I knew I had to try it. Babba "Baba al rum," or rum baba, is a classic Neapolitan dessert, a yeasted sponge cake soaked in a citrusy rum syrup, often served with whipped cream or pastry cream. The owner and a few of them are all originally from Italy, even within the past year, so they are really trying when they speak English. A must stop if you're near Liberty Station or just passing through San Diego! A sweet family owned and operated joint tucked into a strip mall, a true hidden gem. Awesome service and even better food from the quality of the ingredients down to the flavors. Three of us went here for the first time prior to the Eric Clapton concert at the Pechanga Arena. Very convenient for dinner prior to an event at the Arena. We had a reservation and glad that we did because it filled up. Very loud inside the restaurant, poor acoustics, so hard to have a conversation. We had the calamari appetizer and the portion was on the small side and it seemed like it could've used a little bit of salt. we shared the arugula salad and it had nice large pieces of Parmesan cheese on top. The dressing was tasty. My wife and I shared a pasta dish with eggplant and requested they add sausage. Very little sausage put in the sauce. The sauce was a tangy/smoky flavored marinara, unique and not traditional. We both enjoyed it. Again, though, the portion was small. Our friend had the Limon chicken. Small portion with baby potatoes on the side. Chicken was a little on the dry side but a good sauce. For being a completely full house, our waiter was energetic and engaging. He spoke Italian fluently. He certainly tried his best but was overwhelmed by the crowd and dealing with it all pretty much on his own. If we go back, we would give the pizza a try. read more

Tried to go to this restaurant twice on our vacation. The website says open on Tuesdays so we made a reservation which the restaurant cancelled for an unknown reason and left us making other dinner decisions last minute. My kids were very upset. Then the same week on Friday, we choose to try them again because my family loves Italian. This is in response to the comment of the business manager to my review I just wish I would have read some of the other reviews BEFORE I ate here. The business manager seems to be condescending to people that don't give a favorable review. Almost trying to intimidate people to just give a 5 star review. The one review that ordered take out and wasn't impressed was told they would NEVER do take out if they weren't a business trying to survive. So take out food isn't given a priority??? Isn't the same people cooking and preparing it? I eat at an Italian restaurant from Naples. Their food is much better and their service much better. If the business manager is condescending to non favorable reviews clearly then the staff doesn't care either. My suggestion is just know the type of service you will get here and if you experience a problem they will belittle you and or be condescending saying you don't know what food from Naples" tastes like. Once we got our food we never really seen the server again. When they finally collected the check with our cards they "forgot" about us again and had to ask for the check multiple times. Almost like we were inconvenienceing them. Visiting from bay area and happened to find this gem in last minute search for kid friendly dinner place. Located in little strip mall we were beyond delighted with this gem of a place. From the warm welcoming upon entering by who we soon learned was the owner, to the last bite of desserts of creme brulee and kids Gelato we had a fantastic dining experience. Kids devoured their pesto spaghetti and another with marinara, my wife enjoyed her chicken with capers. I may have had my best pizza since Italy. The dough is pillow soft and cooked to perfection. I seriously LOVE this restaurant. The servers are from Italy and are very personable and service oriented. The cooks seem like they're from Italy too based on the healthy, pure ingredients they use. I can tell there are no additives in the food. I never feel bloated after eating here. These are my all time favorite dishes I can't get enough of: the prosciutto burrata appetizer, the Quattro formaggio pizza (the 4 cheese pizza), the pesto gnocchi, a third pasta dish the server recommended but the name escapes me, and this off menu dessert from Naples with clean ingredient ice cream. The dessert is unlike anything I've ever tried. It's spongy, creamy, minty, and melts in your mouth. I love how authentic the restaurant is. The pizza took me back to my time in Naples. Our server was friendly. He explained everything and answered all of our questions. We had vegan and pescatarian. So our order was a bit hard. We all needed substitutions. He did well taking orders, but 3 dishes didn't come out the way we wanted. ( like we said no cheese, but there is sprinkled cheese on the salad) Our food except appetizers took too long to come out.
