Chicken Parmigiana Spaghetti w/ Mushroom Small
    Mia Y.

I love how we immediately got served and then left alone to eat, we came on a Sunday evening...more people need to know about this restaurant. Our drinks were strong mm I got an espresso one and it was soo tasty! Great portions! The chicken in the Chicken parmigiana was soft and plentiful, no complaints. I ordered the spaghetti w/ mushroom and they loaded! I loved that + side of meatballs (unpictured). They were so yummy and just the right texture, not the type to crumble.

Friendly service, server was very attentative and friendly. We've been coming by here for years. I've been coming here since high school. Food is always great.

This place is great! Love the cannelloni. Chase our server was very attentive. Have been coming here for years. Never disappoints.

The Venetian Point Loma is the real deal! The food tastes homemade--like something straight out of grandma's kitchen. Super chill vibes, great service (shoutout to Quinn for being awesome), and just an all-around solid spot to grab a bite. If you're in the area, you gotta try it!

Hands down the most fresh Italian food this side of the world. Every single dish was perfect. A hole in the wall but amazing food.

Recently, my husband and I took my sister-in-law out to dinner at The Venetian for a belated birthday dinner, as she loves Italian food. I had passed the restaurant many times, and had been wanting to try it for a while. A couple of years ago ago, my husband and I had ordered pizza and salad from the Venetian, which was our only other contact with the Venetian. Anyway, our reservations were for an early (6PM) dinner on a Saturday evening. We arrived and were politely greeted and readily seated. The restaurant shares a kitchen with the taco shop next door. From my vantage point, it was a bit strange, as I was seated in a way that looked right into the taco shop, which has a different atmosphere. We studied the wine menu, and chose Mosacto for my sister-in-law and Ruffino Chianti Riserva for my husband and myself. The wine list was relatively small, but there were wines we all liked. The restaurant was also small, but it was comfortable. My sister-in-law chose the fried zucchini appetizer that we all shared. It was pretty good... slightly crunchy and not too breaded. They brought out garlic bread, but I didn't try it as it appeared to be hamburger buns made into garlic bread which wasn't appetizing. For my entree, I chose the scallops served over pasta in an arrabbiata sauce. I thought he pasta itself was just OK. I really couldn't tell if it was homemade or not. The sauce was very good, but unfortunately it overwhelmed the scallops which just got lost in the dish. At the end of the meal, the staff brought a tiramisu with a candle for the birthday girl which was a very nice touch. I did find the service to be friendly and on par. All in all, the restaurant is cute and the service is good. I just don't feel that the food quality measured up to the price of the food (especially with the extra 5% service charge). I'm not sure if I would go back, but if I did I would probably try a different menu item.

Service here is fantastic. Extremely personable and friendly. We just personally didn't love the food. I ordered the lasagna because we were told the lasagna noodles are house made. My husband chose the works pizza as it was supposed to be a popular one. The server brought us some complimentary garlic bread which was nice. But the bread was room temp and looked like the bottom half of buns and there was not a fresh garlic spread on it - it was garlic powder. Sure, it's complimentary but just saying that it could be better toasted, served warm and with crushed fresh garlic instead of powder. The lasagna came with a ton of tomato sauce on and around it like a moat. The lasagna itself, the pasta was good but there were only about 2 layers of meat with the rest being cheese and I found it to be too much cheese for me and too much red sauce and not enough noodles to eat the sauce with. The works pizza - wow had a TON of toppings but it was very soggy in the middle. There was a literal little puddle of water underneath the pizza which in assuming came from the mushrooms as they were cooking. We personally thought there was also too much cheese on the pizza.

    Fried Zucchini

Really yummy food! Enjoyed the fried zucchini and farfalle a lot. Such kind people working too! Definitely feels like a local spot in the best way. Can't wait to go back :)

Little corner bar nook perfect place to go on your first date and see if there's any chemistry. Decent selection of draft beers and wine on the menu. The bartenders was kind of nosey but other that that the pizza was delicious.

My 2nd time getting pizza from Venetian but this time I brought it home for my parents and brothers to try for their first time and they loved it! They also agreed with me that the cheese and crust tasted very similar to our favorite pizza place called Marinos that we went to for 50 years until they closed down 3 years ago. They use very good quality cheese and sauce on their pizzas! We also tried their large Caesar salad and fried zucchini and loved both!!

    us and our booth

Our favorite Italian restaurant in San Diego, and have been going for years. Chase is the best waiter in San Diego, always providing great service of delicious Italian cuisine, large portions. Atmosphere is old school Italian style with booths, attractive bar, and comfortable. A must go to, good time had by all with reasonable prices.

There was a greeter on the ground floor who checked us in and led us upstairs. Parking: Parking can be challenging since the restaurant is in the heart of Little Italy. There is street parking and a few nearby parking lots, but most options are paid. Service: The main reason I'm giving this restaurant 4 stars instead of 5. There were only two other tables occupied throughout our lunch, but we still felt a bit rushed. When we asked which pastas were handmade, our server raised an eyebrow and simply pointed at a few items on the menu. It made us feel a little out of place since we weren't familiar with the different Italian pastas. Food: We ordered the Torre Di Antipasti, the Pappardelle Bolognese, and the Spaghetti alla Carbonara. The appetizer tower looked beautiful, but it tasted average, and I don't think it was worth the $32. When we were looking for a handmade pasta, our server recommended the Pappardelle Bolognese. It definitely had a unique texture. The Spaghetti alla Carbonara isn't made with handmade pasta, but it was still delicious and actually my favorite! Rich, creamy, and cheesy (I went for the extra Parmesan). Overall: There are a lot of great Italian restaurants in Little Italy and throughout San Diego. The handmade pasta dishes are the highlight at Ristorante Illando, and I'd recommend stopping by if you're in the area, especially if you're looking for fresh pasta.

Their pasta is so obviously handmade in house, the texture and butteriness of the noodles was extraordinary. I ordered the fettuccine with the vegan mushroom sauce & added shrimp - divine.
