This place can be easy to miss since it's tucked in between other shops, but the easiest way to find it is that it's a few doors down from Tea's Moment - Boba Point Loma on the corner. When we walked in, there were both tables and booths, and the whole place gave me mafia movie vibes in the best way possible. Lol The atmosphere was really chill, and our waiter was super kind and attentive without constantly checking in or overdoing it. My favorite thing we ordered was the Apple Burrata Salad. It was very good. Every ingredient worked so well together, and it's definitely a must-try! My boyfriend and I aren't big drinkers, but we tried the Spritz 75 and really liked it. It was light, refreshing, and had the perfect amount of alcohol without being too strong. My boyfriend ordered the Pesto Gnocchi, and even though it's listed under the small plates section, it's honestly the size of a regular entrée. I ordered the Fettuccine Alfredo with chicken. It was good, and the chicken was seasoned really well, but I personally would have liked a little more sauce. The bread was also delicious, crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and served in perfect bite-sized pieces. We went into the Venetian for the first time in a long time. It did not disappoint. The food was delicious and seriously the small spaghetti and meatballs could feed at least 2 people. I got Chicken Marsala and it was very good just maybe needs a little more flavor but it was so good and I had enough for another meal next night. Our house Chardonnay was very excellent! It was a rainy night after a very rainy day in San Diego, so we opted for carryout pizza based on our friends' recommendation of Venetian. Their online ordering platform was wonky and wouldn't accept my order, but when I called, they put it in cheerfully. My partner went to get the pizzas and salad, so I didnt get a look at the place, but she said it was a typical Italian restaurant. FOOD POISONING . My wife ordered pesto and chicken. She ate 1/4 of the plate and she said she was full. Stomach started feeling tight. She went to the bathroom and threw up 2 x's. Recently, my husband and I took my sister-in-law out to dinner at The Venetian for a belated birthday dinner, as she loves Italian food. I had passed the restaurant many times, and had been wanting to try it for a while. A couple of years ago ago, my husband and I had ordered pizza and salad from the Venetian, which was our only other contact with the Venetian. Anyway, our reservations were for an early (6PM) dinner on a Saturday evening. We arrived and were politely greeted and readily seated. The restaurant shares a kitchen with the taco shop next door. From my vantage point, it was a bit strange, as I was seated in a way that looked right into the taco shop, which has a different atmosphere. We studied the wine menu, and chose Mosacto for my sister-in-law and Ruffino Chianti Riserva for my husband and myself. The wine list was relatively small, but there were wines we all liked. The restaurant was also small, but it was comfortable. My sister-in-law chose the fried zucchini appetizer that we all shared. It was pretty good... slightly crunchy and not too breaded. They brought out garlic bread, but I didn't try it as it appeared to be hamburger buns made into garlic bread which wasn't appetizing. For my entree, I chose the scallops served over pasta in an arrabbiata sauce. I thought he pasta itself was just OK. I really couldn't tell if it was homemade or not. The sauce was very good, but unfortunately it overwhelmed the scallops which just got lost in the dish. At the end of the meal, the staff brought a tiramisu with a candle for the birthday girl which was a very nice touch. I did find the service to be friendly and on par. All in all, the restaurant is cute and the service is good. I just don't feel that the food quality measured up to the price of the food (especially with the extra 5% service charge). I'm not sure if I would go back, but if I did I would probably try a different menu item. read more

Service here is fantastic. Extremely personable and friendly. We just personally didn't love the food. I ordered the lasagna because we were told the lasagna noodles are house made. My husband chose the works pizza as it was supposed to be a popular one. The server brought us some complimentary garlic bread which was nice. But the bread was room temp and looked like the bottom half of buns and there was not a fresh garlic spread on it - it was garlic powder. Sure, it's complimentary but just saying that it could be better toasted, served warm and with crushed fresh garlic instead of powder. The lasagna came with a ton of tomato sauce on and around it like a moat. The lasagna itself, the pasta was good but there were only about 2 layers of meat with the rest being cheese and I found it to be too much cheese for me and too much red sauce and not enough noodles to eat the sauce with. The works pizza - wow had a TON of toppings but it was very soggy in the middle. There was a literal little puddle of water underneath the pizza which in assuming came from the mushrooms as they were cooking. Tried this restaurant out for the first time to celebrate a friends birthday. The staff did a nice job at accommodating our large group of 12. The food and drinks were all brought out pretty quickly and regularly. The food was good but not as outstanding as I was expecting. I was also a bit shocked at the prices for their dishes. I think they charge a little too much for the quality they are serving. The portions are rather large and they also provide complimentary garlic bread (hamburger buns) before your meal. The front half of the restaurant where you first walk in felt much more cozy than the back half which is newer I'm assuming. The back area was also a bit chilly compared to the front. Random note: the women's restroom had the heater on what seemed to be full-blast and it was probably 85 degrees in there. Way too hot and uncomfortable. My friends and I, who are in Italian language classes together, are constantly trying new Italian restaurants. We came here last night at 7pm and were seated right away (it had lots of open tables - surprised it wasn't busier for a Saturday night). We learned quickly, though, we wouldn't be practicing our Italian here because our server and the menu were very American. LOL! Ambiance: the dining area was warm and cozy with its candescent lighting and black and white photos of Sophia Loren and Marilyn Monroe hanging on the walls, but we were dumbfounded by the adjacent room that didn't seem to fit with it's neon or fluorescent lighting (we think it was a bar). Service: very accommodating (thank you, Quinn!) A vegan diner asked for a basket of regular bread in addition to the garlic bread they include since she doesn't eat butter and I asked for farfalle pasta in place of spaghetti for my dish. They were able to split our checks 4 ways (remember, always ask for this BEFORE you start ordering!) And they didn't push us out when we were the last diners there at 9:30pm (didn't realize they closed at 9: 00pm!) Food: three of us ordered the pasta aglio olio and one ordered scallops. Everyone finished their dishes and a couple of us had leftovers to take home - a good sign that the food was enjoyed. The odd thing with our aglio olio dish is that it said it was served with a "dash" of marinara, but if you look at the attached photo, it was definitely more than a dash and therefore, overpowered the flavor of the dish. Traditionally it's just aglio (garlic) and oil (olio) - no marinara. Pricing: it was a bit higher than we expected, with most dishes ranging from the high $20s to the low $40s. They offered a smaller serving size of our pasta aglio olio for $19.95, which was actually a perfect size and I still ended up with some leftovers because I filled up on the yummy garlic bread. Oh, and be advised - they charge a 5% service fee of top of the food prices. Overall impression: it was a pleasant experience with decent food and GREAT service. If I were in the area again I would definitely consider going back, but I wouldn't go out of my way to drive from where I live in Carmel Valley to go back. read more

My sister's and i came together in San Diego for our annual trip. We capped it off with a dinner here and it was by far the best dinner we've had during our stay. You can never have too many local Italian spots and the Venetian slides right in. We ordered two pasta dishes and a pizza because we had such a hard time deciding as there are so many good options. The whole ambiance is very similar to Italy-easy going and casual for guests with no rush. Every table is started off with fresh made garlic bread which is hard to beat! We then had the cannelloni, veal parmigiana and the genovese pizza. The cannelloni was really good and was a big portion. The béchamel sauce was very tasty and the pasta was home made. I stopped by to order a pizza to go and was confused on where the entrance was. Looks like the entrance from the parking lot is for to go orders though. I did enter from the front, but they didn't seem to mind. When it was my turn to order, I asked if they could do half and half on the pizzas and ended up doing half Genovese and half The Works. The Genovese is one of their signature pizzas and it came with pesto, roasted garlic, caramelized scallops, prosciutto, pine nuts, and their blend of cheeses. The Works was a traditional pizza that came with pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, bell peppers, olives and onions. Pizzas take a while to make and bake and it was neat to be able to see the chefs and cooks in action when I went to check on the status of my pizza. I was offered some tequila shots while waiting, but I declined LOL. I couldn't wait to try the pizza from this restaurant sinc it has been around since 1965! It was interesting that they put the topping underneath all that cheese! I enjoyed both sides of the pizza, although I think I prefer meats over seafood in a pizza. I noticed some of the customers having pasta and other dishes that looked appetizing on my way out, so maybe I'll make another trip to dine here next time. read more

I ordered the chicken Parmesan with angel hair pasta. It comes with a large portion of deliciously breaded chicken, sauce that tasted like it was cooking for days (soooo delicious!) and lots of melty-goodness Parmesan cheese. I also tried some of their lasagna. It was so huge (see iPhone X for size comparison in picture) and had that same great sauce. You won't be disappointed.
