First impressions of Siamo Napoli looked pleasing by the fairy lights entwined in ivory and an almost packed room of patrons on a Friday night. When the host got to me and my boyfriend, they asked if we were okay with sitting in the back; we both didn't mind given our hunger, but I quietly regretted the decision a little when we were sat close to the exit door especially since there was no cell service from where we were situated. But I had no qualms about it whatsoever, as I was more focused on the experience of the food. I ordered the Fettuccine Bolognese while my boyfriend ordered the Piccante. I was pleasantly surprised with how quick my food came to the table, with my boyfriend's not too long after. Despite the portion size, the fettuccine filled me up well and the marinara sauce was flavorful. My boyfriend raved about his pizza as well as the chili oil provided for garnish. (You can actually taste the chili in the chili oil, so be wary of that if you're one not accustomed to large spice.) I had only tried the crust of his pizza, but even that alone, it was still delicious. A part of the reason for our visit was to try the Tiramisu and it didn't disappoint at all. It was the right balance of sweet mascarpone and rich espresso. Our server was kind and attentive to us, checking on us and giving us updates on our food. We were both surprised to see that after asking for the check, we weren't charged for the Tiramisu, a kind gesture we appreciated. Overall, my boyfriend and I enjoyed our time here. Cute little place in North Park. A bit hard to find parking, so I would just go to one of the paid parking lot. Everything started out find, but it started to get super hot. I'd request to sit near the front door since they keep it open with no AC on. We kept having to ask our server multiple times for things we wanted and or was missing. Some stuff never even came. They start you off with a complimentary bread and pesto sauce. Bread was warm and delicious, you can also ask for butter on the side. Love how they have other servers continously refill your water. I'd have to say calamari appetizer was one of the best dishes along with the risotto with asparagus and shrimp. The lobster ravioli and Seafood pasta made with Squid ink was pretty good. I ordered the Cavatelli Al Peperoncino- Artisan shell pasta, house made fennel sausage and rapini, Calabrian chili pepper, and shallots in vodka sauce. The sauce was thick & creamy and incredibly flavorful- chef's kiss! My wife ordered the Campanelle Al Pesto- Fresh bell-shaped pasta with homemade pesto, cherry tomatoes, roasted pine nuts, topped with burrata cheese. The pesto sauce was rich, luxurious, and herbaceous. The Margarita Pizza was equally delicious. However, less charredness on the outer crust would have been more to my liking. So we each get a dish and share family style. This is what works best for us. Everything was delicious. The ossobuco was tender, fell off the bone. The accompanying risotto was so good too. The ribeye was cooked a nice medium. Pizzas were always delicious. Gnocchi and sauce so good, we were dipping the pizza in the sauce. Lobster ravioli was hearty. Branzino was also delicious. Unfortunately, it was a little spontaneous so we had to sit at the bar, which was fine since the service was still great. We were given complimentary bread and pesto. The bread was so soft and warm; it was one of the best I've had from a restaurant. The pesto was a little oily, but it was still fresh and tasty. My friend ordered the cavatelli al peperoncino and I got the fettuccini bolognese (recommended by our waiter). Honestly thought the cavatelli was a little bland but I enjoyed my bolognese. Very busy and bustling inside. Parking isn't good but it's North Park so be aware. Overall, I thought the meal was fine/pretty good. I've had dinner here with my husband and more recently for a friend's birthday and it never disappoints! They have delicious style Neapolitan pizzas, as well as yummy pizzas! We got the contanida pizza with mozzarella, fennel, sausage and mushrooms and it was perfectly cooked! The pizzas are 12" and sliced into 6 slices so it's enough to share if you want a bite of everything. We also shared the linguini mare that had plenty of seafood such as calamari, mussels, clams and shrimp. We also got the gnocchi with smoked mozzarella which was also so good! Saturday night and we wanted to have a nice family dinner, had reservations made for our group and they split us into 2 tables which works. We parked in various lots and I parked in the lot directly connecting to the restaurant. There's a lot of people and we had to take our time with the menu. After careful review we ordered medium steak, chopped salad, ragu pasta, 2 pizzas, seafood pasta and dish, lasagna, and calamari. The bread was amazing, the oil and herb sauce and mildly spicy tomato based sauce were wonderful with the bread. We had a basket and a half of them! We also ordered a bottle of wine which took some time because they got busy and may have forgotten until they came back to check. One of the pizza was a bit more burnt than we like, so the other table didn't eat it. The servers gave our tables dish to the other table so we had to hand everyone their plates. I got a regular Coke instead of a diet by mistake. Overall, good place for us younger generation to have a dinner. Our older parents didn't eat much but they liked trying the dishes out, just wasn't what they wanted to satiate their hunger. I'm hoping my experience is a one off as my visit was not good but it looks like from recent reviews it's something they need to address. The staff were very dismissive towards our table - I noticed them giving preferential treatment to other tables. I'm not sure if they had a recent change in chef or something but the food was very bland. Additionally, all the pastas had so much liquid in it - it was watery and not authentic. We walked in early enough that we could be seated without a reservation or a wait. It's a mid-level Italian vibe, nothing too fancy or too casual. We were already impressed with the menu, but when our fantastic waiter came around with the specials, most of us opted for those! I got the Osso Bucco and it was some of the best I ever had - super tender and fell right off the bone. Every bite was a treat! I love mushrooms so the mushroom risotto was a great touch. We ordered calamari, gnocchi, picanta pizza, pesto pasta, seafood linguine. I also got a fabulous Negroni. Overall a terrible experience. We had an 8:00 PM reservation and arrived at 8:09 PM. To our surprise, the host met us at the door and flatly told us they were closed. When we pointed out we had a reservation, he actually proceeded to lecture us about being late for the reservation (by ~9 mins). 10-15 minute grace period is standard industry practice, and what makes this even more absurd is that on the day the restaurant explicitly took reservations until 8:30 PM. I'm honestly confused as to why anyone would put in the efforts to make their guests feel unwelcome. Like there was an actual discussion even before we were seated - host: you are late - it's already 8:15pm, us: oh no it's 8:09pm, host: no it's actually 8:10pm. I really hope was a one off because the food: (5/5) Yes I think this place does deserve to be on the guide where it has the tag of quality cooking but the quality of hospitality is clearly not their strong suit. The neopolitan pizza was great, pasta was also delicious. Ambiance: seemed okay. Can't accurately comment on this. We were the last ones in but the first ones out. read more

This restaurant opened (I think) when I lived in San Diego a few years ago. It was my favorite Italian place then and that holds true today, three years later. I just visited SD for the night and perused all the possible choices for Italian but ended up here, again. Why? Because it has the best Italian in the city. Fresh, authentic, creative, great mix of flavors, top notch service. It also has vegan offerings for my family who can't eat dairy - and they're good, not some vegan afterthought. The pizza is the best in SD - the crust. Just wow. Last night I tried the chicken parm. Perfect. It's super noisy and definitely hard to hear, but it's also packed and lively. Our waiter was great, the owner (I believe) always comes to check in, and it's just done how dining should be done. I recommend it to any friends who ask where to go in SD. It won't disappoint. I'm also glad that they have an inclusive menu for my vegan and gluten-free friends, so this restaurant is definitely on the short list next time we're looking for a spot. The other male staff also shared us the beautiful story of the restaurant, how they came from Napoli and all the recipes are passed down by their grandma! All pastas and sauce are all made in house. No imagination, no signature, nothing that hinted at a chef with something to say. A soft shrug on a plate, and unfortunately a preview of what was coming. Swuash blossoms arrived. The kitchen took a swing for the fence that landed. Plump little fritters... you eat the flowers that become squash my yelping friend! Stuffed like a herby ricotta grenade that detonated in the best way. Easily the standout of the night. I should have ordered an entrée sized portion and called it a win. The pappardelle special brought the energy right back down. Wide pasta belts that never bonded with the sauce. The cream was thin and shy, barely seasoned, missing the richness that cheese and butter are supposed to bring. The mushrooms were lifeless and whatever truffle was promised never made it into the pan. Pedestrian is the only word. My wife's lamb ragù on pappardelle was the safer lane. Chunky stewed lamb instead of the usual ground meat, which was a surprisingly competent move and showed the kitchen may know karate or perhaps krav maga. Siamo Napoli is generous, and carried by a front of house that could charm a stone. I just wish the chef cooked with the same confidence the waiters perform with. When the kitchen hits, it hits. This hidden gem in North Park deserves so much recognition! Wanted to stay local for dinner and had this place on my list of Italian restaurants to try and I'm mad I haven't tried them sooner. Everything from beginning to end was amazing! A group of 3 of us were promptly sat and had drink orders taken almost immediately which was nice. I got a non alcoholic passionfruit drink that tasted like a passion fruit mojito. Very refreshing! Another server brought warm bread and a pesto/oil and marinara dipping sauces for us to dip the bread and both were very good! The marinara does have a slight bit of heat to it but nothing too serious. We then ordered and I got the pesto pasta, my friends got the ravioli and gnocchi with a vodka sauce. All of us were more than satisfied with both the serving size as well as how amazing the food tasted! To top it off, Giovanni, the owner of Siamo Napoli, came to our table to ask how everything was for our entire meal and made sure that we were satisfied. To me, this is very important because it shows that he really cared about not just his restaurant being successful, but making sure the customers were happy while dining there. Amazing place for pizza and they are known for their pizza. I, however, love their pork shank. It melts in your mouth it's so tender and juicy. It's a big piece of meat and it's great warmed up the next day. We always get the artichoke appetizer as it's amazing. It's a great way to start your meal. Lasagne is amazing too as it's homemade pasta and the sauce is great. Everyone at our table had something different and always does and I can't remember a meal that someone didn't like. It's that place where you always have a bite off someone's plate. It's a moderate size place and looks very Italian. Not too loud but can hear a buzz throughout the restaurant. The servers are running around and always take care of you. Service is really good as you finish appetizer or salads/soups they are there to move you to the next course.
