As a traveler who loves BBQ the first thing I notice is the smell of meat cooking over real hardwood. Non of that was here. I ordered ribs & sausage combo with beans and cue slaw. The ribs were grilled and covered in sauce. Just because you slither BBQ sauce in it does not make BBQ. The sausages as tasty in a natural casing and has that snap a sausage should have. The meat inside was a corse grind and seasoned well but very dry. The beans were al dente at best and the slaw was way too watery. The fries are good and okra tastes like okra! We tried this place for the first time the other day. The meat was served in generous portions and was tender. The coleslaw was nice. The mac and cheese was creamy and reminiscent of "homemade". (Note not box like, but neither gourmet). The service was attentive and efficient. Loved the pebble ice in the coke! The only shortcoming for me was the BBQ sauce. There are four sauces made in house. I found one too close to catsup. Another was too vinegary. I thought all were too bland, and although I was finally able to mix them together to get something acceptable-the whole point of BBQ is the sauce. Out of Towner and was looking for some good bbq. Service was good and place was nice overall. No issues there. Portions were big as well for the $. The reason for the bad rating was because of the ribs! These baby back ribs were so fatty! Like most of the meat was all fat! Yuck! A family night favorite - highly recommend starting witH the fried okra - it's the best I've ever tasted. Their bbq chicken salad will. It disappoint. This is my favorite BBQ restaurant for many reasons... the food is incredible, the service is always great, and the people who work there are all very friendly. But back to the food... literally everything one the menu is delicious and worth trying. The chicken is rarely a disappointment, the beef brisket is amazing, and the ribs are unbelievable. All of their side dishes are also very tasty. This is the only restaurant where I enjoy eating collard greens. I order them every time because it is unbelievable how good the collards are here.. they've taken something that tastes so bad at every other restaurant and turned it it's something that I am craving each time I come to Cue! If you haven't yet found this restaurant, it is definitely one that you will be excited about trying! It's also a great restaurant for people who "don't like BBQ restaurants" because everything they cook is of such high quality. This place is delicious! I always go for the burnt ends which are the crispy and best part of the brisket and it doesn't disappoint. You always see a lot of guys hanging out here because it really is meat heaven in here. They also have an awesome draft selection. My favorite part is the giant portions! It's been a while since we've been to Cue so we decided to stop in on Saturday. We were seated immediately. We ordered and got our food quickly. My wife had a pulled pork sandwich. She enjoyed it. All three of our sides were good. I got the brisket sandwich. It was probably the worst barbecue, if not the worst sandwich I've ever eaten. The meat was hard and dry. No amount of sauce made it edible. I took the bun off to see the meat. When I tapped it with my fingernail, it made a tapping sound, like a piece of jerky or a Formica countertop. I got down two bites. For $20 I got two sides and two dry bites of meat. I can't imagine a restaurant that has been around this long regularly serves meat like this but mine was really awful. read more

I have mixed feelings about this bbq joint tucked into a small strip mall. First off, the service was pretty on point. Our waitress was pleasant and came by to check on my brother and I often during our recent lunch trip on Saturday. The restaurant was comfortably full, and the noise at a good level. We decided to split and share 2 platters: the 1/2 ribs platter with bourbon sweet potato casserole and bacon beans as well as the sausage and pulled pork with mac and cheese and brunswick stew. The waitress informed us that the ribs would take about 15 min to cook and the sausage about 20. That was fine, because good bbq should never, ever be rushed. I just asked for the sides to come out first so our stomach wouldn't devour our kidneys while we waited. Surprisingly, the entrees came out about 2 min. after our sides and it wasn't a long wait at all. Since there was a lot of food, I'll break it down by item: - ribs: nice flavor, could have been smoked longer for a better fall of the bone taste. - sausage: actually found quite nice and flavorful although I had to eat this with sides cause it was a bit dry - pulled pork, it was ok but nothing that would have me come back for more. Sides: - bread: nicely toasted, I like that it was an extra huge slice of Texas toast - brunswick stew: it was honestly not my favorite, but I prefer mine very stew-like and this was more of a "soup". my brother seemed to like it a lot and commented that they used heirloom tomatoes. I guess my taste buds aren't as distinctive as his cause all I tasted was watery tomato soup. -bourbon sweet potatoes: wow is all I can say. I really liked this one, especially since it had bourbon in it! :) - mac and cheese: although the pasta was cooked perfectly, it had the a nice give when you bit into it, the sauce was very watery/thin and incredibly bland. - bacon beans: nice and above average of what other bbq joints serve. They have 3 unlabeled bbq sauces at your table: a vinegar based one, a mustard one and the Memphis style bbq. I wasn't feeling too adventurous and didn't try anything other than the Memphis style sauce which was ok although lacked much depth. I ended up dunking the sausage in this sauce. While a decent OK to dine, it's not mind-blowing awesome. Maybe I am just the traditional bbq type gal, you know, I need to smell the bbq when I'm down the street. Also, both google maps and our GPS directed us to a subdivision when we entered the address. Wasted about 20 min. driving around IN THE OPPOSITE direction because the address was wrong. read more

You get a hint of the swallow here but they have their own twists. I had the sausage sandwich and preferred the vinegar sauce. Really good smoky bite and a huge portion. The sliced pork was purely succulent with a great ring with good bark. For sides we had creamy mac and cheese with a Cincinnati slaw that looked like kryptonite but had a nice vinegary crunch. My friend Steve has been talking this place up, says it's some of the best 'cue he's ever had and he's eaten at 100's of joints all over the south. So last night I was accidentally in the neighborhood and I figured this was my chance. At first I drove right by it, as I was not expecting it to be in this new strip mall, I'm used to more hole-in-the-wall 'cue. It's tiny, but there were free tables at 8:30 on a Friday night. They seem to have a good take-out business, which is what we did. We enjoyed the live music while we waited for our order and next time I'll plan to eat in so I can enjoy the music longer. We got a half rack of ribs, 2 pulled pork sandwiches, and some sides. The ribs were enormous!! I have never seen pork ribs so huge before, there was at least 2" of meat on the bone and it was smoky and tender. I got the grilled pineapple on my sandwich and I just don't know why that doesn't come standard on every pork sandwich, it was so incredibly good!! The deviled egg potato salad was good, coleslaw and mac n cheese were ok, Brunswick stew too salty to eat, don't know how that even got served to customers. I was most impressed by the meat, which was nicely complemented by the homemade bread and buns and I really liked the sauces we were given. The banana pudding was also some of the best I've ever had, I loved the boozy flambeed bananas and brown sugary pecans. When I go back I will try some more sides to see if I can find something I really enjoy and will be working my way through the rest of the desserts. read more

Off all the BBQ places I have dined in throughout the country, I have to say that 'Cue Barbecue IS a BBQ restaurant that knows what they're doing; 98% of what I have consumed from their kitchen has been extraordinary in terms of freshness, quality, quantity, and taste! Their food is served HOT and FRESH with the cold food offerings served cold (why can't MOST of the BBQ joints do this?) and their service has always been fast and friendly. 'Cue's Smoked Pork is phenomenal with no greasiness or overly offensive material found; moist and tender with a perfectly smoked flavor, the pork literally melts in ones mouth! This is high quality meat prepared to BBQ perfection and generously proportioned! Their Baby Back Ribs are the biggest and meatiest ribs I have found in Georgia; a rack of these expertly smoked and seasoned ribs will challenge any hungry appetite with fall-off-the-bone tenderness and a sweet/tangy sauce that clings just right to the lightly charred meat! BRAVO! Their sides are truly HOMEMADE and easily convey the use of fresh, high quality ingredients; I have tried ALL the sides offered and have found nothing less than perfection served! There is no hint of "open canned" or "boxed and served" sides here: The Deviled Egg Potato Salad is a blessing to many Grandmothers and back yard picnics with its old fashioned goodness; perfectly prepared redskin potatoes blended with deviled eggs and a lightly seasoned mayo base. The two slaw offerings are fresh and very tasty; please note that the vinegar based, "Pittsburgh" style may not be for everyone as it does have a slight lingering vinegar aftertaste. Creamy Mac & Cheese cannot be beat as it is truly a homemade BAKED version utilizing real and high quality cheeses; note that the use of some salt will enhance the Mac&Cheese as I'm sure it is prepared with low sodium dietary concerns. The Brunswick stew is very good and reflects an Ol' South recipe with some bite to it; tomato sauce based with corn, Lima beans, and chopped smoked pork throughout, it may or may not be to everyone's liking. Note, I have not experienced the overly salty configuration described by another reviewer. The Bacon beans are very nice with just the right amount of spices and bacon; these are NOT to be compared to other establishments canned offerings. The tomato and cucumbers with balsamic vinaigrette may be a hit or miss depending on seasonal fresh vegetable offerings; so far it has been good and fresh but that could possibly change. The homemade bread is wonderful in any way received; be it a one sided grilled, buttered slice with a plate, or the often mentioned mega homemade bun for sandwiches! The Hand cut russet potatoes (fries) are FRESH and Crispy and the homemade pickles are GREAT if one likes a Bread and Butter style; I do! As to the sauces, I really prefer the KC styled tomato based sauces but 'Cue offers three varieties to tempt the taste-buds; sweet and sassy tomato based is my favorite and stands out for its use of fresh herbs and spices, but the spicy mustard based is starting to win me over as is the herb and spiced enhanced vinegar based. Note that the vinegar sauce should be shaken before use since the herbs and spices do settle to the bottom. Another note is to the sauce dispensing containers; they are like round glass ketchup bottles only thinner necked, and other than the vinegar container, the sauce tends to clog in the neck and demands the use of a knife or straw to break the seal. 'Cue offers seasonal veggies and deserts as well; If on the board, I highly recommend the Sweet Potato Souffle (it's absolutely sweet and decadent and much like a desert) and If one has room, and they have Blueberry Cobbler, I HIGHLY recommend busting a diet, or a gut, and ordering one; a LARGE portion of real blueberries in a sultry sauce hugging a delightfully light and airy bread cover served warm with two scoops of real vanilla bean ice cream topped with real whipped cream is simply THE BEST I have ever had (sorry Grandma)! My only disappointment with 'Cue is that their sliced Smoked beef brisket was very dry; it had a nice smoked flavor but was dried out and tough. Honestly, most Georgia Q establishments cannot cook beef like Texans so I will only denounce 'Cue a bit for the beef. In closing, I state that 'Cue Barbecue is what GREAT BBQs about; the total culinary experience begins with top notch and friendly service and culminates with finely and expertly prepared smoked meats and REAL homemade sides! They may be a little more pricey than competitors, but the total food quality and proportions are worth it! But for the dried beef my culinary BBQ experience with 'Cue Barbecue has been fully enjoyed. I give them a 4.875 out of 5 and if they get the beef right, five stars will soon shine. read more

Walked in here recently and was very pleasantly surprised by the quality of food and the quality of service. First off, upon pulling into a parking spot, I notice they have a big time slow cooker outside chained to a tree and it is steady smoking away. Immediately I thought I was walking into a serious establishment. Kelly promptly greeted me and got a drink for me. I came after the lunch rush, so the place was empty. I ordered the combo plate of chopped bbq brisket and chicken, the two sides were the deviled egg potato salad and the mac & cheese. The portions of the Q seemed a little smallish, but trust me, I was full after that meal. They're nice enough to put vinegar based and mustard based sauces on the table, of their own making. Every time I come here the experience gets better. The food never waivers and EVERYTHING I have tried here has been delicious. I recently tried the sausage, which they will warn you can take up to 20 minutes, but is worth the wait. Get the collard greens and you just cannot go wrong with the pork. Collard greens had bacon & were prepared perfectly. Brisket & sausage were awesome & their sauces were a nice change up from the ordinary. They had the 2 Carolina sauces & I enjoyed using them on my food because normally the sauce variety is usually regular & tangy at other places. The best part of my meal was the Brunswick Stew.
