Everything was sooo good I had the salmon with greens and mac & cheese, seasoned perfectly. My son had the chicken tenders, yams, and baked beans with ground beef , and my daughter had the fried chicken and sweet potato pie for dessert . It was all amazing! The guy who took care of us was super nice and the restaurant was really clean . If I could give more than 5 stars, I would! Definitely the best soul food in Roswell. We'll be back for sure!

Entree of fried chicken wings with mashed potatoes and gravy and macaroni and cheese with a corn bread muffin- great choice

Large portions of comfort food. I ordered fried chicken wings with a side of mashed potatoes and gravy and macaroni and cheese. My order was cooked to order and I had a wait of 15ish minutes. The hot chicken was seasoned well and worth the wait... as were the sides. The corn muffin was a thumbs down- it was a dry puck that was a one bite and meh for me. The sides were on the steam table being kept warm just off the to the side of the cashier station. As soon as the chicken came out, my meal was scooped up to be served. There was a trickle of to go orders and other diners. The tables aren't overly comfortable- all high tops and stools- and that may be the key to not having people take up space in your establishment.

Omg , 10/10. Their food is soo delicious, seasoned soo well. I can't wait to go back and get me some more. I'm glad they have a soul food restaurant north atlanta, there isn't many around these parts. The space is cool, there's some seating. The food is fresh made to order if you get fried food. The service was also good.

I had Southern Classic Foods cater our weekly staff engagement lunch. I took a chance booking them based on the good reviews. Let's just say, the did NOT disappoint!! The food arrived on time, it was hot, and smelled DELICIOUS! We had bbq chicken, fried chicken, macaroni and cheese, collard greens, and yams. This meal was definitely cooked with love! The staff raved over how good it was. You have gained new fans! We'll see you again soon.

Southern Classic Foods puts the "Soul" in soul flood! All Hail the Queen from Cairo, GA; Mrs. Sheena B. has put her heart and soul into the southern classic recipes that we love! It's that home cooked food that makes you keep eating for the taste! I had a sample of the sides while I was there, and they were simply scrumptious! The Mac & Cheese was creamy, cheesy, and delicious. All of the veggies were fresh and seasoned to perfection! The restaurant is spacious enough to dine in. The service is wonderful. Using only the freshest ingredients to create the comfort food that satisfies all of your cravings for the savory flavors of the South, Southern Classic Foods is my new favorite comfort food restaurant in the Alpharetta/Roswell area! *Follow me: Yolithefoodie on IG Yoli Thefoodie on Facebook Yolithefoodie.com - blog Yolithefoodie @gmail.com

The girlfriend and I stopped by to get some food for dinner and another couple we would hang out with a lot (Pre-Covid) told us about this place or heck maybe the girlfriend told them... either way.. it was my first time going and I haven't had any "Soul Food" in a minute so I thought it was a good idea. The staff pretty much greeted us at the door to take our order. We only had a chance to look at the daily specials so we weren't quite ready to order yet. In all honesty, I don't know if they were bored and was happy to see us or if they are that aggressive with taking your order. The place is not that big and it was a little empty so I was like "oh boy!" I asked the girlfriend how she felt with just a few people in the establishment and her stomach answered... "OH WE ARE ORDERING SOME FOOD!" Yes ma'am I replied and we ordered!. She ordered, Pork Chops, Chicken, collards, cabbage and mac n cheese I ordered, the smothered turkey wings, collards and mac n cheese! I was actually surprised.... the chicken and pork chop were actually pretty good... The turkey wings were good but I am not a fan of salt and the gravy had just a little too much salt for me.... please keep in mind that I don't eat salt that much at all so any salt is too much for me. The mac n cheese was my favorite of all the sides.... the collards were good and I just didn't care for the cabbage. Either way... I will certainly go back and try them again. Stop by there and see what you think! Y'all be Easy! Drew

The food was really good especially the greens. The customer service was great. The only reason I gave them four and not five is because I had to wait an hour for my food. So if you are in a hurry, this wouldn't be the place but if you've got time to go sit down, and wait for your food, it'll be worth it. Yum.

This is my 2nd time visiting Southern Classic. I will admit the first time had a few glitches. But nothing too major. I understand all new restaurants have kinks to work out. So I decided to visit again! This place did not disappoint. My flounder was so good and fried just right! Seasoned well and absolutely delicious My Mac n cheese was cheesy and good! And baby the greens the greens. I love greens so if it's not right I would know. Everything was absolutely delicious. I'm very glad that soul food has make it to Roswell. It is definitely needed in the area. Keep on making right and I will be a forever customer. Congrats on your new restaurant

FINALLY got to try this place. But wasn't worth it for me and here is why: I learned about this place from Instagram so I checked the restaurant's IG page, liked what I saw and added it to my ever-growing list of restaurants to try in Atlanta. The menu item I wanted (smothered turkey wings) is only offered on Saturdays and Sundays. The dressing side is only offered on Sundays. So that limits the days I can go to try this restaurant. I learned recently they added flavors for their turkey wings like lemon pepper and honey hot which I believe are not limited to specific days like the smothered turkey option. WHAT I ENJOYED: 1) The smothered turkey wings were good. I liked the gravy and they serve a lot (I had some underneath the wings which I used to cover the dressing side. 2) The sweet potato pie- served in these cute single serving, individually wrapped aluminum foil pie containers. Very good filling and crust. I ate it cold and loved it so imagine it warm after being heated in the oven. 3) Online ordering process- seamless, easy, email confirmation after placing the order and you have the option to pay online or at the store which I appreciated because I added a dessert to my order so instead of two transactions it was altogether. My order was made true to time. 1pm. I called at 1:03pm and was told that my order was ready. I had to make sure because I had tried to go last week Sunday and there was only the cashier who told me they were behind on online orders and if I placed an order at the counter, a 30 minute wait that the owner is in the kitchen by herself since there were no cooks. WHAT I DIDN'T CARE FOR: 1) The menu for drinks I presumed were homemade but everything listed are fountain/soft serve drinks which I was disappointed. I ordered pink lemonade thinking it would be homemade even if it was the Country Time mix just not Hi-C. Yes that is what the pink lemonade and fruit punch are Hi-C served from the fountain drink dispenser. The sweet tea is the Gold Peak brand which is actually good but again I was expecting homemade. Even a little Arnold Palmer action like half sweet tea and half lemonade but I wouldn't dare mix Gold Peak with Hi-C brand. I think I also saw Sprite, Fanta etc. 2) The dressing- looked burnt, it wasn't but it was dry. Using the extra sauce at the bottom of my turkey wings helped somewhat. My server had drizzled a little bit of sauce on the side but not enough. I don't recall if in the online ordering there is a section where you could put a message in notes requesting extra gravy. I didn't care for the taste of this side and I'm a big fan of dressing. Only ate half and threw the rest in the garbage. 3) the collard greens- advertised that it is cooked with turkey meat but maybe my serving scoop missed the turkey . Like another reviewer mentioned the collard greens were bitter. I wouldn't order this again. Only ate two bites. Threw the rest away. Waste of two sides. The only other sides I was considering: the corn & Mac and cheese. The corn (based on pics) didn't look appetizing and I've read mixed reviews on the Mac and cheese which is why I avoided ordering that. 4) Customer service- as a reviewer mentioned it is hit or miss. The serving lady who doubled as my cashier was very nice. I believe she was the one who greeted me (from behind the counter) when I arrived and she also told me to have a nice day when I left and thanked me for my purchase. There was another lady however who saw me standing and at first I thought she was asking if I had been helped. So I responded I have been helped and pointed to the lady who was packaging my order but she was actually asking if I had paid. O_o Wow! I am not about to run off with the food and not pay. Plus the lady packaging my plate already took care of the transaction and I doubt she would give me my plate without accepting payment first. The iPad was still showing my receipt on the display and I chose the option to have the receipt texted to me too. So that whole interaction was offsetting. 5) I believe the food is made to order although it seems it is served cafeteria style so I highly recommend online ordering unless you are a patient person and do not mind waiting. This spot is good for those who live in the Roswell area and want some soul food. But for others who live in the city I wouldn't recommend. It isn't worth the drive to me or dealing with traffic on the way back into the city from the restaurant. Because the two items I liked would be an incomplete meal (sweet potato pie and smothered turkey wings) and no other sides interested me. The drink I ordered, I could buy at the local grocery store. So again it isn't anything where I need to drop what I am doing and head over there.

It's November. I believe I ate here back in September or August and to say I've been dreaming about this food is an understatement. This puts the comfort in comfort food as everything was so flavorful. I definitely need to make my way back here!

I ordered the plate with fried pork chop, green beans, and Mac and cheese. The food was ready at the expected time per Grub Hub. The portion sizes are large. The young ladies who prepare the food are nice and personable. Everything was hot and delicious. I would've preferred my pork chop fried a little bit harder and crispier and for the price at two pieces of meat would've been expected instead of just one. Parking is ample and free in the shopping center lot. I recommend them. The food is quite good.

Unfortunately, our excitement quickly faded before we were even seated. When I walked into the restaurant, I was completely ignored by a young blonde employee named Claudia who was standing behind the counter in the waiting area. She looked directly at me and continued what she was doing without so much as a greeting or an acknowledgment. A simple, "Good morning, someone will be right with you," would have gone a long way. Since no one else was in the lobby and I noticed a clipboard on the counter, I politely asked if there was a waitlist. Claudia responded with an attitude that she "wasn't the hostess." I calmly asked where the hostess was, and she simply replied that she was clearing tables. There was no offer to help, no explanation of the process, and no attempt to assist me. She continued interacting with other staff members while I stood there feeling like an inconvenience. Thankfully, another employee who appeared to be a waiter noticed me. He immediately picked up the same clipboard that had been sitting on the counter, took my name and phone number with a cheerful attitude, and let me know it would be about a 15-minute wait. His professionalism completely contrasted with the poor customer service I had just experienced. Once seated, our waiter was personable, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. The food was also very good. I ordered the Chicken Sausage Scramble with hash browns, and it was delicious. My friend ordered the Catfish and Grits and thoroughly enjoyed her meal as well. The food and our waiter helped redeem the experience, but first impressions matter. Management should ensure that every employee understands that providing basic courtesy and hospitality is everyone's responsibility, not just the hostess's. Even if greeting guests or managing the waitlist wasn't Claudia's primary role, there was no excuse for being dismissive or rude to someone walking through your front door. Alpharetta has no shortage of excellent brunch spots with both great food and outstanding customer service. Sadly, because of the way I was treated before I was even seated, I won't be returning to The Southern Porch. I also won't feel comfortable recommending it to friends or family. It's disappointing because the kitchen and our waiter did their jobs well, but one employee's attitude overshadowed what could have been an otherwise enjoyable brunch.

Not fresh at first, but decent if you push for it…read more I was pretty disappointed with how long the chicken and chicken livers had clearly been sitting out. When I arrived, I grabbed a piece of chicken and it was already cold, so I decided to wait for them to bring out a fresh batch. Same thing with the chicken livers: cold and not refreshed the entire time we were eating. Near the end of the meal, I finally asked if they were planning to put out fresh chicken. I explained that I tried it when I got there (about 30 minutes earlier) and it was cold, and nothing had been replaced. The staff member said she could start working on some, so I waited. About 12 to 15 minutes later, they did bring out fresh chicken and fresh chicken livers, and honestly, when it's fresh it's actually pretty good. The mashed potatoes were another issue. They had a thick, crusty layer on top, and it looked like they dumped the old, dried-out potatoes from the previous pan over the fresh batch. I had to scrape off the crusty topping just to get to the fresh potatoes underneath. Overall, the food itself isn't terrible. The bigger problem is the way it's being handled. It felt like they were more focused on cutting costs and stretching old food than keeping the buffet fresh and consistent. My advice: if something you want looks like it's been sitting out too long, say something early before you sit down. If you wait, you may never see fresh food brought out.
