Our waitress needs proper training, we ordered 3 beverages and a beer, the beer was ordered dressed with a salt rim, it came with a sugar rim and was the wrong beer - I wiped the rim off and drank it anyways. The appetizer came with the meal, kids meal came out several minutes after the adult meals, the kids meal pizza bread - is on a burger bun, that's my fault for not asking to clarify, but thought you should be aware in case your kid is picky like mine. The burgers were okay, not a reason that would make me come back honestly - but the onion rings were freaking fantastic. They biggest thing they would benefit from is more attentive wait staff and faster ticket times as we were there a hour and it took us maybe 10-15 minutes to eat. the first red flag was when I walked in there nobody was there only one couple at the bar and that was it, I see kids on the floor kids behind the bar either screaming or crying. A toddler having our behind the bar that could grab a bottle of anything anytime. Waiter had a horrible attitude and just sat there staring at us. The building looked on the outside that is would be a neat burger place. The horror decor could be really cool but instead was cheesy & unorganized. The staff didn't even seem to notice that we walked inside. So we decided to use the restroom before getting a table. The restrooms were not clean, there was no toilet paper in one & no soap or paper towels. Gross. It was the same for the women & men's restroom. The restaurant wasn't busy, but no one offered to seat us. After standing unnoticed for over 10min we choose to leave. If you can't clean the restrooms, imagine what your kitchen looks like. If I could give this place no stars I would have. Place was not very clean to begin with. My wife ordered the chicken fried chicken. I ordered the chicken fried steak. A few minutes go by and was told they don't have green beans that comes with the chicken fried chicken. My wife chose something else to go with it. a few minutes go by and the waitress tells me we dont have mashed potatoes. I said that's fine just let me have the nachos and cancel the chicken fried steak. A few minutes go by and she comes back and says sorry we are out of chips. At this point I just told her we want to pay for our drinks and that's it. Avocado, pico, jalapeños, fresh veggies and a fresh burger patty. Along with some tasty natural cut fries I was stuffed. The burgers are quality. Husband had the Texas chainsaw burger and enjoyed it thoroughly. Although he had two patties and was overly stuffed. The owner stopped by twice to first welcome us and again to make sure we had everything we needed. Polite waitress, excellent service. I dig this place. It could use a little paint and a good scrub here and there. I assume that's what the crummy reviews are for. BUT my table was clean and my chair was clean. The wait staff/ bartenders argued the entire time and didn't know how to place orders.The cooks would come out of the kitchen to fill their cups with beer. Creepy as F$@%. The Monster in the name isn't for the burger size but the restaurant is decorated in Halloween/Scary movie theme. Severed heads, Freddy Krueger, macabre everywhere. Being I was the only customer present during the noon hour- I'm glad I made it out alive. As to the food, the burger I would give a solid "B" for effort. The waitress was attentive, albeit abrupt, and the food was quick and tasty. We both had a burger and fries and we shared a basket of fried pickles. If you get the fried pickles, expect A LOT of them. They were the pickle chips and they were pretty good. What really made this place awesome for me was the atmosphere. I have been working in the area for almost 5 years and have never eaten at monster burger. I've always heard it's not good food and the service isn't great. I noticed they remodeled the outside and re opened, so I figured I'd finally try it out. The food wasn't bad. I got wings and they were pretty good. It is the only place In town where you can get wings so that helps. The fries were good after you put some salt on them. They are real potato's and not frozen bag fries. The service was also good. We were checked on often and food came out pretty quick. The inside wasn't very clean and run down unfortunately. They should of spent all the money on the inside instead of remodeling the outside. The movie decorations were cool, but there was a lot about the place that was just a complete non-sequitur. this place really did not know what it wanted to be. The menu is all over the place. Is is a sports bar, theme restaurant, burger joint? who knows! The service left a lot to be desired, we were mostly ignored the whole time, which is not good considering we were the only ones there. I can understand a long wait for food and stuff when a place is busy but this place was deserted. We all order water we get three bottles of water. Ok, fine, maybe there's a warning in effect of something and the tap water isn't potable. One long wait later, we got the food and I thought the burgers were actually pretty good. Fries were pretty bad though, so I figure I'll dress them up with some ketchup. Turns out the ketchup in the bottle at our table had expired, as it tasted fermented and rotten. One of my friends had only gotten the water since he wasn't hungry at the time. We get our checks, he was presented with a dollar and eight cent bill for his water. But the overall most disgraceful part was when one of my other friends hands the waitress a 20 and then she comes back to inform us that they can't break it. Her boss already went home (and its the middle of the day), and took the key to the cash box with him. My friend looks at her and says "well you just got the biggest tip" and then leaves as quickly as possible because we just wanted to be done with this place. The food was pretty good I thought, and this place for sure has potential, but man everything surrounding it was bad and just didn't add up. This place has gone steadily downhill. When they opened, they we're an "everything's fresh made on site" place that did most things well (or at least what was in stock that day). Now, they take half an hour to get you mediocre, not fresh, often warm food. The service is hit and miss, but when they miss, they miss big. The overall impression that I get is that there isn't a (experinced?) manager on duty overseeing the staff and so nobody really cares what kind of experience you have. That always feels to me like they think they're entitled to your money and you should just be thankful that they bothered to serve you. It's sad that I'll have to continue on to Victoria to get a sit down supper that doesn't run $50 or more a head. But you can be sure this place isn't getting my money anymore. read more

During a pandemic or not, this was by far one of the top 5 worse places I've ever ate in my 30 years of life. It took 3 of us almost 30 minutes to get burgers with fries. We were 3 of 6 customers. MONSTER FAIL Short Review: cool horror décor, poor service, dirty conditions, TERRIBLY unprofessional management, mediocre food, Longer Review: I almost don't know where to start so I'll just describe my experience. My sister and I stopped here on a whim while passing through town. I love horror movies and burgers so I was pretty excited. We came in around 2 so it was after the lunch rush and there were only two other tables in the whole place. The waitress greeted us and said to sit anywhere. When we sat down we noticed the table hadn't been wiped. There was salt and crumbs on the table and a dry, crusty tomato seed stuck to the table. We started to move but noticed all the tables were in similar shape. I just used a napkin and wiped it clean. The waitress came to take our drink order and I noticed she had a 9 or 10 yr old child following her around. Sort of weird but whatever. When she brought our tea, I notice all the ice had melted. No biggie I figured, perhaps they just brewed it and it melted. We sat waiting for her to come back and take our food order and were going to ask for a glass of ice. After waiting 4-5 min I just got up and got the ice from the server station myself. When she finally arrived, she asked if we wanted some ice for the tea. I pointed out the glass of ice on the table and told her I already took care of it. Still, no big deal. I ordered the Diablo Burger(Beef, Avocado, pico de gallo, jalapenos, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, onions and fries) and my sister ordered the Cheese Blob Burger (Seasoned beef patty, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pickles, must / mayo with our famous monster cheese blend this burger is bursting with melted cheese). The food came fairly quickly but neither order was right. My burger was missing the pico so I asked if I could please have it added. The waitress took it back to the kitchen and when it came back they had diced up some tomatoes and picked jalapenos and thrown it on top. Mind you, the burger already had tomatoes and jalapenos. This was not Pico de Gallo. I don't know where you're from that you think this is pico but in Texas, this most certainly is NOT pico. I don't hold the waitress liable for this but the cook should have definitely known better. We were told they hadn't made any pico that day. When you only have 7 burgers on the menu and one of them calls for pico, that should be made daily. It's not like they didn't have the stuff to make it. Anyhow, I just accepted it and began to eat. When I looked at my sister she was trying to figure out what burger she had gotten. It certainly wasn't the one she ordered. She had ordered the Cheese Blob but gotten a mushroom swiss burger delivered. She didn't want to send it back and just ate what was served. About halfway through she decided she had had enough and was just going to take the rest home to her husband. We asked for a to-go box..... waited..... waited.... flagged down our server and asked again..... waited about 10 more minutes. Finally I got up to get it myself and some blonde lady in a bad mood began yelling at our server.... In the middle of the dining room as she was finally bringing our box. WTH?!?!. About that time another family had come in and was being seated. As the waitress was seating them some guy, whom I assume was the manager or owner came up to her (as she was greeting this table) and said, "I can't afford any more screw-ups from you today so you better get your $hit together". We immediately paid as fast as we could. I felt so bad for that poor girl. She wasn't a great server but she certainly wasn't getting any support to improve from management. Not to mention, there was a small child (6 or 7 probably) at this new table and this guy was cussing at his employee in from of them. As we paid, he came over and gave a half-hearted apology which we didn't even bother to acknowledge. This guy was a total tool and should not be managing people. We left right away. All of that said, they did have some neat (and some cheesy) horror movie memorabilia. We walked around looking at it while waiting on our food since the place was empty for the most part. We did notice there were several areas where the floor was pretty sticky which makes me question the cleanliness. Anyhow, all of that combined was more than enough for me to avoid this place in the future. There's a Whataburger right next door which is where we usually go. I'll just stick with that. The teenagers working there have a higher level of professionalism and it seems cleaner. I also find it strange that their FB reviews are much higher than yelp. Guessing they remove bad reviews. I plan to paste this same review there with one star. If you don't see it there, it's because they are manipulating it to make themselves look better. read more
