First off I must say the staff was amazing at this cool little restaurant with a great atmosphere at this fun restaurant. The place is warm and inviting in a modern sort of way. They have outdoor seating, downstairs and upstairs. We were here last weekend with a party of about 11 people and sat upstairs. I'm giving this place three stars because I'm holding them to a higher standard being a restaurant that's more on the expensive side, but not crazy expensive. I think the price matches the menu, if my meal was executed well. The three items that I did have were not quite up to my expectations. My New York steak was cooked medium when I asked for medium rare, which is easy to do, so I forgive. It seemed like it was a pan-fried steak, and that was it, something was off with the steak though. The side of my steak came with a baked potato smothered with mushrooms, which I really enjoyed! At $42 though I'm holding it up to higher expectation.... I did sample my neighbor's pizza, I believe it was a pepperoni or something and I thought it was lacking. The buffalo cauliflower appetizer was good, steamed cauliflower with buffalo sauce. My neighbor salmon did look pretty good though, layered on a bed of risotto. If I lived local I would give this place another shot to redeem themselves. I would try the happy hour menu. Or I would come back for a pizza and a salad and drinks. And judge them again before ordering anything expensive. It's a cool romantic atmosphere and just a nice use of space. Loved this restaurant it's a casual but classy dining experience. The service was good but we got our pizza came before the appetizers. We had the Buffalo Cauliflower, Cheese Curds and a Pesto Pizza with mushrooms. Everything was delicious and the pizza crust is superb!! Great beer selection for my husband. Giving it two start only because of the food. Unbelievable salty. I had asked the waitress to ask the chef to put NO salt in, knowing from past dinners there that it was way too salty. She mentioned it to the chef, food came and was so salty I could barely eat it. I dunked each piece into the water glass hoping to rinse off any salt. It helped a little. Its too bad because the meal was a great combination - the cajun boil (or something), had shrimp, potatoes, bread sticks, cajun sausage. I felt really bad because it could have been so good. The waitress and staff were great - we left over 20% tip but not for the food. Sadly, I will not be going back. Oh, and the acoustics upstairs are horrible, cant hear the person right across the table from you unless they scream. read more

I dined twice at Cultivo and I was blown away by how good the food was, this is easily one of the best places to dine at in Ukiah and for me one of the best places I've eaten at in the last few years. Rustic and soulful dishes that surprised and satisfied at the same time. The ambiance is laid back, real NorCal vibe, music playing in background that sounds like your visiting a friends house and not some corporate chain restaurant playlist. A quick shout out to service staff which has been friendly and prompt. I have posted the pictures of what we've had on our two visits and every dish was winner. Ugh. Rough one. Careless food and service. Beer came to me shaken and lukewarm so when I opened it at the table (the server didn't do it) it spilled all over the place. Did they offer a replacement? No. Pizza was literally no better than Costco. Not exaggerating. They didn't bother to separate the pepperoni so there were little slimy stacks of 3 and 4 pepperonis stacked next to cheeseless empty spots. Careless work like I said. They were blaring bad 90's adult rock over the speakers, couldn't hear each other. We were in balcony and the railing was covered in dust. Just a tough experience. read more

Maybe we didn't order the right food, but we thought the margherita pizza was a little dry and the tomato sauce was too acidic. What a lucky find! We were driving through Ukiah and picked this little gem at random. The staff was kind and attentive even though we blew in right before closing. We both had the wood-fired pizzas and they were amazing. Loved the tomato sauce on mine. My husband had the wild boar pizza with the cream sauce base. Such unusual and amazing flavor combos!!! Five star dining at a three star price. My son found this restaurant online as we were headed through the area. So, so glad he did as it is a gem in this cute little town. The chef and owner has taken what was formerly a pizzeria and turned it into amazing farm to fork dining (while still keeping the pizzas on the menu.) I had the Kurobuta pork chop and it was the best pork chop I've ever had: juicy, flavorful, and tender. The tart cherry Pinot sauce it was served with *made* the dish and was so, so good for dipping the herb gnocchi in. (It has been a few weeks and I can't remember what the rest of my party had, but all six of us were very satisfied. This was the best dining experience of our 9 day trip!) We had lunch here with our cousins. I am on medication and brought my bottle of water with me as I drink a lot of water in said medication. The 4 of us went through a pitcher & 1/2 of water. I checked my water bottle and it was very low. I politely asked for another carafe of water...she looked at it and said you have some. My cousin asked 10 minutes later and she looked at us like we were asking for free drinks. She said no she couldn't. We left and went around the corner to a bakery where they kindly re filled my water bottle. We are in our 70's. I live in Santa Rosa. This woman with different color ponytail was insensitive to me and rude. I will never go back. How can you deny patrons who lunch came to $150.00, water!! This has never happened to us before. They even have Pliny the Elder here, which was pretty astounding to me, but I guess it's just growing in popularity, as it very well should be, cuz it's so amazing. I attended my friend's birthday party here. Before we ordered food we all ordered drinks. About 20 minutes after my friend ordered his drink, he received nothing. Cultivo's star dishes are the PIZZAS! Their brick-oven pizzas are unlike any other pizzas you'll ever eat. Their selection of pizzas are unique recipes, but even a classic pepperoni pizza is vibrant to the tastebuds; the marinara sauce is zesty, the cheese is salty, the pepperoni is subtle, and the crust is crunchy. The rest of their menu is also a unique selection. I ordered a pasta with sausage, mushrooms, and Parmesan cheese which was alright, it had a strong onion flavor from the chopped scallions and red onion mixed it. However their chicken and pork chop dishes were JUICY! Many other dishes to choose from, too. Duck breast is all over the menu as are oysters. I'd like to see more salad dishes as there were about two or three to choose from. Their dessert menu was not ordinary. I played it safe with chocolate pots de creme --a rich chocolate mousse. I am the new owner of Ukiah Optical at Pear Tree Center. One of my patients recommended Cultivo and this restaurant did not disappoint. The service was extraordinary and my servers were amazing , attentive, and funny. I was very fortunate to have two. One of their names is Melanie and I did not get the male servers name. I had the Margherita Pizza and I added Burrata cheese. The crust was baked to perfection. My server also brought over this very nice tasting chili oil for my pizza. Wanted to like this place. Came with 8 other people sat upstairs. Waiter tried to memorize all our orders despite our large group. We were all skeptical. Of course he had to come back 2x to ask questions, and unsurprisingly he forgot my entree (seriously... what's wrong with taking notes?!?!) so while the entire table had a meal, I sat there with nothing. I had ordered the pork chop and he claimed it was "coming right up".... once the rest of my party was done eating I was served a pork chop... except that it was EXTREMELY RAW. Basically seared. Not safe to consume at all. I was so visibly upset that a member of our party let him know for me. While he did bring us a free dessert for the bride, he NEVER apologized to me, not once. Pretty awful experience. I'm getting married in Ukiah and will be letting guests know to steer clear. Oh, and I saw the table behind us return their drinks after trying them to the same waiter. Broke my tooth on the pizza crust but I don't even care! The wood fired mushroom pizza is dreamy, such a lovely variety of mushrooms all locally grown by The Forest People! I recommend eating pizza there at the restaurant for the best crust experience, when I've gotten to-go it gets slightly soggy because the steam creeps into the perfectly done crust inside the box and changes the texture. My other favorite here is the vegan kale Caesar salad-- as a recovering vegan I usually avoid all things vegan but I get this every. single. visit. The one time I didn't I couldn't stop thinking about the salad for days and had to go get one. The ambience is nice and homey, the staff are all really helpful and chill. The only thing I wish they had is a liquor license, but the beer and wine selection is great and they have wine cocktails!
