I grew up spending my summers in WI with my grand parents and Culver's was a treat we were able to frequent. The food was always good. The custard divine and it had that small town homey feel. Around here Culver's is a different experience. When Rifle got one I was super excited and we made the trek frequently. I was honestly pretty impressed with their offerings and quality. When the Culver's opened in Grand junction I had such high hopes. Unfortunately the food is almost always disappointing. It has the "I've been waiting for you for hours" type taste. So I thought, ok fine, at least we can still get the custard. But again I have been disappointed. The "freezer" frequently does not have many flavors to make a party pack. When you order the flavor of the day, like I did today, "turtle dove" I got so excited by the picture on the sign and website. But what I brought home was vanilla custard with some "turtle dove toppings". A couple bites with flavor beyond vanilla and that was it. See photo. As for the staff. It does sometimes take them a while, but I have never had any crabby staff. Everyone has been very friendly. They are clearly trying hard. I'm guessing this is a management or training issue. I really hope they can get this figured out because they have the ingredients to be awesome... if they could just figure out how to do it! read more

I went to Culver's on Super Bowl Sunday and the place was quiet and not busy at all. I was the only customer there at the time. There were three employees standing around talking and obviously didn't have the time to be bothered. Finally a woman came and asked "What do you want" The order wasn't for me or I would have left. But I ordered and got it pretty fast and I think they wanted to hurry me out so they could get back to their busy schedule of chatting . Love the food, however the cleanliness of the place was very poor. Not a clean table at all, had to wipe our own . Trash on the floor, pop machine in need of a good scrub down as the coke sticks and continues to run after your done. Condiments were empty and the surrounding area was also filthy. read more

The service is slow, the food is often cold. Is this location cursed? Burger King used to serve cold food in that exact spot and went out of business. This location is not good, and it's unfortunate. The food is fine, what you'd expect from Culver's. However, the service is extremely, I mean extremely!!! Slow. Better plan at least an hour to eat lunch and it's not even busy. Tables are rarely cleaned, you end up having to clean yourself, and every time over ordered here, the order is wrong. I also give "new" places 3 tries and this one has failed every time. Also, the parking lot of horrible, you end up having to wait through the drive through to leave. So I offered to take my wife to the Culver's that opened a couple of weeks ago in Grand Junction... Wife ordered a dry single patty burger with pickles, raw onions, lettuce, tomatoes (30 cents extra) and no cheese. I ordered a dry single patty burger with extra pickles, grilled onions, lettuce, tomatoes (30 cents extra), extra, extra jalapenos (60 cents extra) and no cheese. We split a large fry. After 35 minutes, this is what we got: Wife: a smashed single patty cheeseburger with ketchup, 2 pickle slices, 2 small rings of onions, and a small tomato slice, no lettuce. Me: a smashed single patty cheeseburger with ketchup, 2 pickle slices and a small tomato slice. No grilled onions, lettuce, or jalapenos. A large order of slightly warm fries. So when they brought our order to our table we immediately noticed they brought us cheeseburgers, and then discovered all the things they left off we ordered and the cheese and ketchup we didn't. So our server said keep the burgers and they would redo our order. Then another server came out and asked if we had a problem. So I repeated our issues and he said he'd be back and he left. Then he soon returned with the assistant manager who asked what the issues were so I repeated them again. He apologized and said he'd have them remake the order. I asked if we could have some hot fries too and he said OK. So when we finally got our order, now 50 minutes since we'd ordered and we had much hotter fries, and Helen's order was correct. My burger had no grilled onions and only 5 slices of jalapenos, not very extra, extra to me. The server said he'd bring me some grilled onions I could put on my burger. So finally we were able to enjoy our meal but the biggest issue, for both of us, is they smash the burgers until they are about ¼" thick, burnt on the ends, and very dry and not very tasty since most the flavor had been smashed out. Needless to say, we were not very impressed with Culver's and will only be going back when it's warmer to sample their custard offerings. read more

Brian waited on us inside... he was kind, patient, and very helpful with all of our questions as first time visitors. He made recommendations (cod, chili, mushroom and Swiss) and we excitedly tried them all along with a shake and mixer. As others shared, we had a wait, maybe 10-15 minutes, but it was worth the wait. Our food was hot and fresh and as tasty as Brian promised it would be. A new restaurant always has quirks to work out, timing, accuracy, efficiency... The food is good, the customer service is not. Keep thinking it will improve and it hasn't. Wait times are terribly long. Workers are semi friendly, and appear confused most of the time. The other day we did the pull up around the building and wait through the drive through. After we had not gotten our food after 15 minutes I called and they hadn't even started cooking our food! Honestly, this place is awful. I live in Parachute and this location is a stark contrast to the Rifle location. The staff is rude, careless, and every time I've ate here, the food comes out cold. The tables are dirty and it really shows that whoever is running this location doesn't care either. And if they do, they must not know how rude and unaccommodating the staff is. Go to Freddie's. It's much better. Or go to the Glenwood location. It looks like every other Culver's inside, it's just dirtier. They had 5 pints of frozen custard in their freezer available to the customers. Not a solid "5", but certainly close enough to round up. Located in the old 24 1/2 Road BK building, just east of Mesa Mall, it's nice to see a building not standing idle, but contributing to the local economy. I had the fish dinner, with two pieces of cod, french fries and dinner roll, no Cole slaw. Understandable, considering it was Ash Wednesday, and the demand for "fish and chips" was probably as high as it will be, I doubt this will repeat. The employee I dealt with was very apologetic, and was nice about giving me a double order of fries at my request. I think it was a double order+, as, for the first time I was unable to finish them. I thought the fish was wonderful, hot, with a crispy batter crust, weighing more than I expected. The tarter sauce is more than mayo, and compliments the fish well. One interesting observation - the staff was composed of mostly women, and mostly at an age where they've finished, one, maybe two careers. They were as energetic as some young people who I would expect to be working at an entry-level position. Wonder what the kids are doing for cash these days? The only negative thing I could speak of is the drive through organization. Almost exclusively, drive-through restaurants are are just that, pay at one station, pick-up at the second, or pay and pick-up at the same window. It seemed that that operation was not very well thought out. I ate inside, and glad I had some forethought and didn't park next to the building on the south side. The amount of traffic heading to order and pick up would have blocked me in. There will always be some kinks in starting a business, but given time, this will be a place I'll enjoy returning to. Bob PS - I purchased a pint of Blueberry Cheesecake frozen custard to go. It's thick and rich, and has a well-defined blueberry taste. When a Culver's opened in town I stopped by to try their standard Butterburger that is so highly touted. The entire thing was served cold! The meat was cooked but completely cold . . . . the bun was cold and the cheese was a cold stiff slab sitting on the cold meat. The condiments were cold. It's like it was prepared then put in the refrigerator to chill it down before serving. It doesn't matter how good the ingredients were. You serve a burger cold and it will always be a bad burger. Where to begin? HIGHLY disappointing experience. I created an account on the Culver's website and received a coupon for a BOGO Culver's Value Meal. My 16 year old son had never been to a Culver's and I let him use the coupon (try feeding a 6'1" growing teenager, lol). The first red flag was when we entered, there were no other customers at the counter and the lone cashier behind the register couldn't be bothered to greet us or ask us if we'd like to order. No. She just stood there doing nothing except looking like she wished she could be anywhere else but there. After looking at the menu for a few more minutes we began our order. My son ordered a basic Butterburger with cheese, tomato and mayo and a Chicken Sandwich for the 2nd meal. He got fries with one meal and Cheese Curds with the other, along with some pretzel bites, a sweet tea and upgraded the 2nd meal drink to a Peanut Butter Shake. I ordered the 10-piece Jumbo Shrimp meal with Slaw, Fries and a sweet tea. I paid for our meal and thought $36 was kind of high for 2 meals, but maybe it was the because of the upgrades for the curds, pretzel bites and shake. Got our number and took a booth seat. About 10 minutes later a girl brought out my son's 2 value meals and drinks, but that's it. I thought maybe the girl couldn't fit it all in one trip and continued to wait. After another 10 minutes I got up and went to the counter asking where the rest of our meal was. The employees behind the counter (3 or 4 girls standing around chatting) were like "Oh, we were trying to figure out who it belonged to" turning and grabbing my shrimp meal and handing it to me. Well, maybe if you brought ALL the meals out for an order at the same time, you wouldn't be left wondering? I sat down and started eating my meal. The Slaw was pretty good. A close copycat of KFC's slaw (which I like), but the fries were cold (probably from sitting in the pass through waiting to be picked up.) The shrimp was decent size but fairly bland in flavor, nothing special, plus they'd placed 3 of the pieces atop the slaw (who wants fried shrimp basted in slaw juice?) Culver's brags about how their hamburger is "never frozen", but I'm guessing that's the ONLY food item that isn't as the Shrimp wasn't any different from what you can get in the frozen aisle at Walmart. Same can be said for the fries. Go buy a package of crinkle-cut fries from your local grocer and cook them yourself at home and that's Culver's fries. The sweet tea was nothing special either. It tasted like your basic Nestea powdered mix that leaves a bad after taste in your mouth. Thank god the slaw was tasty. As for my son's meals, he liked the burger and the shake, but didn't touch his fries at all. He thought the curds and pretzel bites were ok, but only finished the pretzel bites. And his chicken sandwich? It looked like it'd been run over with a steamroller. Seriously, the chicken patty was barely an 1/8" thick and ALMOST covered the small bun it was in. NOT worth what they charge for it, not even at half price. But as if the service and food wasn't already mediocre enough, as I'm eating, I look at my receipt and see why the meals were so expensive. They charged me full price for all 3 and did NOT give me the BOGO offer I'd shown 3 different times to the cashier. We finished our meals (what we ate anyway) and as we headed out, I stopped at the counter and ask for the manager. I showed her my receipt and questioned her about the BOGO offer I didn't receive. She looked at it and verified that we didn't get the offer, then asked if I'd shown it to the cashier. Um, yea, 3 DIFFERENT TIMES while ordering! Then she proceeded to tell me she couldn't refund the overcharge because we had upgraded the meal. I told her to just refund the amount of the meal minus the upgrade charge, but she said she couldn't do that as it was a debit charge (this is from the manager mind you.) After a couple more minutes of going back and forth with her, we ended up telling her to just give me the refund back in cash, which she finally relented to and did. So yea, not a great experience at all. Poor service and mostly poor to mediocre food. I might give them another try at a (much) later date, but am undecided. Honestly, I've been cooking burgers using real butter at home for years and they're one of my son's favorite meals I make. Very tasty, juicy and seasoned just right. My son said he'd go back again, probably only for the peanut butter shake, but doubted he'd get food there again. And after all that we experienced, I can't say I blame him. If the owners don't do something to improve the employee's customer service competence and skillset, and vastly improve the quality of the food they offer, I'd be surprised if this location makes it more than a couple more years. Really, the Burger King they tore down to build this location had better service and food, and I don't even like BK. Ugh!! read more

went in for lunch today, to say the least it was so dirty that it was quite disgusting. tables, floor looks like it hadn't been vacuumed in days, spider webs on light fixtures, bench seats greasy, broken ketchup dispenser, I think that covers most of what I saw personally. If I were the manager. I'd be on there making sure that my employees did their jobs as the manager. That's your job to make sure they do their jobs. Nothing annoys me more than walking into a business and seeing employees standing around. Doing nothing when they could be utilized while they're being paid to do cleaning. Wherever the manager is in that building needs to walk through pointed out. Make sure it's taken care of otherwise you'll probably lose customers. read more

If I could rate this a zero I would. My experience today was disappointing, employees were on their phones while at cashier, not welcoming and had very poor work ethic. It was clear visibly that the employees were unhappy and did not want to be there. I waited for 20 minutes for my order before going asking if my order was still being made. Employees were very disrespectful and even made faces as if my order that I PAID FOR was an inconvenience. I finally got my order and it was not what I ordered even though I paid EXTRA for toppings. I have to mostly agree with everyone else here. I have been here 3 or 4 times. The service is slow, the place is always trashed, and you always have to pick the cleanest dirty table. People always standing behind the counter doing nothing while every table is dirty, there are no drink lids or straws, trash on the floor and counters everywhere you look. The food however has mostly been acceptable. The owners and management should take a trip to the Montrose Culvers and see how it is supposed to be. read more

For an establishment that has so much going for it they ruin with the customer service. It's not them being rude, it's how they operate. I have seen better service out of Applebees. They first bring me my drinks, then custards and last of course the food. Growing up in the Midwest I was ecstatic to see that a Culver's was finally coming to Junction. The first time we came everything was far too salty. The second and third times we came I asked for a SINGLE butter burger and was given a double. Now I've stopped in with my family and it took 20 minutes for the food to be ready, while it was very slow, and a family member had to go up to the counter and ask for her food which was sitting in the window and had gotten cold. Then the order was wrong. When the manager was approached he said, "Well the order on the receipt is right, so according to that we ARE right." That is not how that situation should have been handled. The manager did not hand the receipt back to her so that we could even make a complaint through the website. I've given this place a chance time and time again and I'm disappointed every time. The owners who take great pride in this establishment need to reign their staff in and retrain them on customer service.
