    Soup Chicken Momo 6
    Melanie T.

This place is so frickin delicious! Its a little on the pricer end but the quality of the food is absolutely worth it. Highly recommend going in person rather than ordering takeout because it comes out extra hot, steaming, and fresh in person. I got takeout once before and it was good but the price was much more worth it when we dined in. Service was attentive and speedy too! We ordered the chicken momo that came in a tomato based soup, and ate that first. These are such delicious dumplings and the tomato soup really was a nice light soupy consistency that had enough body to stick to the Momos for that nice flavor. We sipped up the soup after we finished the Momos! The garlic naan was super fresh out of the oven and so good that we ordered another batch. So soft, fluffy, and garlicky! The vegetable biryani was rich with flavor and it was hard to stop eating it! The bhindi (okra) was also so rich in flavor and spice and it was a perfect pairing with the naan. Can't wait to come back! Next time I shall try the lunch buffet :)

First and foremost I will say the food is absolutely delicious. But the quality of service and small size portions left more to be desired. We came early on a Friday evening and got seated quickly. We got our orders taken shortly and from there the wait started. We waited almost an hour until our food came out!! We even checked with our server prior to see if our food was coming and kind of got brushed off. I was pretty disappointed at how long we had to wait, and even more disappointed that the staff didn't really seem to care. The restaurant wasn't even super packed at this time so I'm not sure what the hold up was. For our food we got the butter chicken, chicken biryani, matar paneer, and garlic naan. All of the food was delicious and flavors on point. The chicken biryani might have been my favorite - it's probably the best chicken biryani I've had in Chicago. However, I was a little disappointed at the small portion sizes, considering the price of each dish. Really wish I could have enjoyed this place more, since the food really is delicious. Would love to see some improvements in service and more fair portion sizes.

Cumin is a great spot in Wicker Park to get Indian/Nepalese food. All the food came out really fresh. The highlights were the garlic naan, chicken Tikka masala, and bhindi masala (okra). No reservation was needed on a weeknight dinner. The food was delicious but the price point seemed a bit high for the amount of food.

Below average taste and kabobs were uncooked and had 0 flavor Very commercial place, rice was not complimentary with the main curries I would not recommend to eat here. Lamb curry was good. Chicken tikka- negative Dal tadka- edible Bhindi masala- had less bhindi and more green pepper lol Please see pics attached Expensive and not worth the money

This meal was so ridiculously overpriced but so ridiculously delicious. I followed the hype and I followed it hard. Well worth the shot but I'm still shook as to how much was paid vs quantity of what was ordered. Stuck with the classics: veggie samosas, chili fry momo, lamb biriyani, butter chicken. For 2 entrees and 2 apps it was well close to 100.00. While I appreciate my booshie yelp friends and their suggestions; the pockets weren't ready yall. I had to follow the hype, I had to see what it was all about! I told myself not to do it. I had to. Fml. Delicious flavors, various spices and just all around good quality food and meat. I was disappointed that the samosas only come in 2 instead of 4 or high hopes of 5 or 6. Still, it was a pretty large one and it took me a while to finish it so one did suffice. One order of garlic naan included 2 slices of naan. I felt robbed. Still, one slice was more than enough I just couldn't wrap my head around how much we got vs what was paid. I don't know, I just don't know. Maybe it's the fact that the location is in the heart of wicker park/bucktown that it's so overpriced and can get away with robbing yuppies but I'm just not one of them. Still good just so so so so pricey.

Perhaps my new favorite Indian/South Asian restaurant in the city Food: Lamb saag - 5/5 - excellent spinach dish, rich and creamy Lamb vindaloo - 5/5 - extremely spicy but delicious Chicken vindaloo - 5/5 - extremely spicy but delicious Chicken tikka masala - 5/5 - flavorful spices, rich, creamy perfection Chicken mukhani (butter chicken) - 4/5 - great but not exceptional Chicken biryani - 5/5 - spectacular flavor Lamb biryani - 5/5 - spectacular flavor and with impressively tender chunks of lamb Mango lassi - 4/5 - very good; not exceptional Garlic naan - 5/5 - perfection Ambience: Moderately sized; Nepali-influenced (features prominent image of Buddha) Service: Fantastic - friendly, attentive, efficient

Food: 5/5 Atmosphere: 5/5 Food: This is easily the best Indian food I've had in Chicago to date. I ordered the Vegetable Vindaalu and the flavor profile was out of site! I could appreciate the cumin, turmeric and peppers with every bite. I also ordered the Dal Tadka and it was out of sight. Furthermore, almost all of the vegetarian dishes could be made Vegan, which is a super plug for me! Atmosphere: We came during the pandemic so the interactions were limited. However, I could still appreciate how beautiful the establishment is and how great the service was! I'll definitely be back :)

I got the Shrimp Curry with Rice and some Garlic Naan. This is the best Indian food I've had in Chicago so far. The curry was very flavorful and quite spicy.

I and my boyfriend have been wanting to try this place for years! We are so glad it survived the pandemic and we were finally able to go! We had the garlic naan, basmati rice, lamb curry, and buttered chicken! I will say this place was so charming and I love how you can tell their priority is delivering excellent food every time. All the dishes that came out looked AMAZING. Our food tasted great! I will say that the garlic naan is totally necessary to soak in all that delicious sauce! We left with happy hearts and fulls stomachs. We will definitely be making this one of our go to take out places too! It seemed that many liked getting takeout from here as well! 10 out of 5 stars!

Disclaimer, I'm an East Asian and I didn't grow up eating Indian or Nepali food so take my comments with a grain of salt. Lamb curry My friend and I enjoyed it. I bit into some star anise in the dish, and I wished they gave the star anise more time to incorporate into the curry (sauteing longer and toasting it before), as the star anise flavor wasn't really there. I had to bite into the star anise with the sauce to learn about the flavor profile. Eggplant curry I wasn't a big fan of the dish, as it felt a little astringent and bitter at times. I wasn't sure what it was going for, and I wished it utilized more of that umami flavor from the eggplant to elevate the curry. The curry felt a little overpowering. Fish curry As a seafood lover, this was one of the most special curries I have had. The fish was delicate and soft, which was paired well with the sauce. I would get this again. Chicken Biryani We increased the spice for this dish. The portions were huge and we liked it as a base to the other curries and something to eat with the naan. It was not bad. Mutton Momo (Soup) As a mutton/lamb lover, the momos were flavorful and hearty. They were paired with a spicy tomato soup, which felt different but familiar. We loved it. Mutton Momo (Chillied) The momo was sauted and fried at the bottom. It was paired with some bell peppers. This is the kind of dish where you wouldn't be able to stop eating. Loved it. Garlic Naan Hot, thin, crispy. Even though we wished the garlic was more pungent, the texture was great. Gulab Jamun (Fried Ball Dessert) It was our favorite. The syrup was gingery and had a subtle hint of saffron, and it blended well with the fried balls. This hit home. Overall, the food was decent. We will definitely be back for the momo and to try the different curries and biryani.

Mazala does Indian fusion, and I had never had tacos with Indian flavors before. It's definitely an acquired taste at first, but honestly, one I ended up really enjoying. I ordered the 3-taco special with the butter masala, firecracker, and tikka masala tacos. The firecracker taco definitely brings some heat, so keep that in mind if you're sensitive to spice. My favorite of the three was easily the tikka masala taco: flavorful, comforting, and something I'd absolutely order again. We kept it simple with water for drinks and ordered the chili chicken as an appetizer. It leaned more tomatoey than spicy, with a mild heat level, but still really tasty. For mains, we got the Chicken Madras and Khasi ko maasu (Nepali goat curry), both served with white basmati rice. We also ordered the bread basket, which came with naan, garlic naan, and onion naan. Everything paired really well together, super satisfying with both the rice and naan. The server asked about our preferred spice level for the goat curry, and we chose regular. It actually wasn't spicy at all, which worked perfectly for us. I ended up just eating the other food we ordered, but it was such a disappointment because this has always been the dish I look forward to.
