There are 12 "hand tossed clay oven breads!"... and 14 different appetizers. I also like it that they indicate how spicy (spice level) from mild (1) to hot (5). Great little Indian place in Santa Rosa. Came here with my family and we were all pretty satisfied with our meal. The chili momos were sort of like regular momos in a chili-chicken sauce, I was a fan of it personally but not everyone was. The vegetarian chow mein was good but nothing to write home about. The Tadka Dal and Mattar Paneer were also good, though could have been more flavorful. We ended our meal with Gulab Jamun, which was nice but served cold, which I didn't prefer. There are so many five star reviews here I hesitated to write my opinion which is not five stars by a long shot. I love Indian food, I travel there and I cook it at home and have done for many years. That said, the ethnic food scene in the county serves the denizens of the county. To find authentic Asian food you really need to visit the eastern Bay Area. Yes, there are some decent places here but they generally tend to tone down the flavors (and the heat levels) for the people of, primarily, European descent who live here. The spices are the real star of Indian food and I find the dishes here to be a little tame. The Dal Makhani had the heat but not the warm spices nor did it have any red beans in it. The naan was quite good but the chicken dish my wife had was boring. The waiter was surprised we were not from the neighborhood as most of the patrons, according to him, live nearby. If you like it you like it but if you are familiar with authentic Indian food you may be disappointed. read more

$40 for ONE entrée and side for carry out. Crooks with BAD food and extremely poor service. Worst food ever. Pigs won't even eat it. On top of that they over charge you for everything single thing on their menu on website. We were in a mood to try this Indian restaurant for the first time so decided to get a carry out. We ended up ordering their lamb dish- lamb boti kabab. First of all- this is NOT an Indian restaurant. May be Bangladeshi or something. Secondly, their food is NOT edible. It was stale and gross. We're sure that the meat wasn't even lamb. And it was hard and stale. We could not even chew their tandoori roti (Indian bread) is how stale it was. And they charged us $4+ for each flat bread which is a LOT more than their menu online. Additionally, their menu on their CURRENT website clearly mentioned add rice for 1 dollar for entrees. So we added 2 rice and they charged us $4 per rice. So our total that was supposed to be 25 dollar for JUST 1 entree and sides of rice & roti/bread turned out to be $38.00. The girl at the reception is extremely rude and has no idea what she's talking about. And she's very dismissing of the customers. As soon as you place the order on the phone- she says your total is 38 dollars- what's your card number? Nothing about how long would the food take etc was said. When we questioned after we paid, they were like- "we just bought this place from old owners few months ago and the website is yet to be updated. We need to up all our prices- we just haven't gotten to it yet" Absolutely no responsibility was taken for their extra charges from their menu online. Food was horrible. Bad business. They may have made 15 extra dollars today by their fraud tactics but they have lost us as their customers for ever and many others. read more

Oh my gosh. FINALLY! An Indian restaurant in Sonoma County that blew me away! We tried Cumin for the first time tonight via Door Dash and we were so pleased. The food arrived fresh and piping hot and a wonderful aroma filled our house as soon as we brought the food in. We ordered the pakoras, samosas, aloo gobi, butter chicken, white rice, and garlic naan. Everything was so flavorful and mouthwatering. Our 9 month old daughter loved it too! So happy to have found an Indian restaurant that does everything so well AND that we can get delivered. We will be ordering again soon! read more

This restaurant has a nice enough ambience and the service was very friendly and helpful. However, the food was only just edible. The samosas were heavy, doughy and VERY salty. Almost too salty to eat. The mango lassi had an odd effervescence that made me worry that maybe some of the ingredients were off? Could not figure that out - it was the first mango lassi I have not finished in my life. Not great. The chicken tikka masala and the saag paneer were edible, but lacked flavor and complexity. Pretty bland. This would not be fixed by increasing the heat (spice) - it is only fixed by having a talented chef who knows how to make the right blend of spices. The other thing that was bad was the toilet in the bathroom was filthy. The underside of the toilet seat and the toilet bowl itself was the filthiest I have seen in a restaurant in a very long time. Small and a bit hidden away I'm Santa Rosa and often looks closed till you walk in, small and normally empty but the food will blow you away! Always so good and just the right amount of service. We even had the cook come ask how it was they really take pride in having great flavor and making sure your happy with your order. What an unexpected treasure. Stopped in for a quick lunch en route to a meeting. Good variety of lunch specials that include pakoras (Indian vegetable fritters) naan and rice. The naan was ethereal- incredibly light with a bit of crispness warm and glistening with melted butter. My Palaak Paneer (aka saag paneer) was the best I have had eating Indian all over the US and London. The cauliflower and potato Aloo Gobi was also excellent. Sauces of cilantro and tamarind provided as well. Decent selection of beer/wine. We will be going back for dinner - can't wait to try the malai kofta, basil pesto naan and samosas! read more

Only discovered this place right before the pandemic hit and wish I had sooner. So authentic and delicious. We live clear across town in Northwest Santa Rosa and still make the trek for the best biryani in town with delicious homemade raita. It's hard to find good biryani and not every joint makes it. Ordered delivery via Grub Hub while I was staying in Santa Rosa. Truly, the best Indian food I have ever had (this includes Portland, OR and the I5 corridor through Western WA.) Lamb Korma was delicious-tender chunks of lamb in a rich full bodied sauce. I appreciated the option to order the healthier brown rice with my meal. Cheesy Naan was the bomb, thick, fluffy and chewy with cheese "pull." Plus the momos were tender, well spiced and had the most delectable sauce on the side for dipping, and a refreshing creamy Lassi topped my meal off. Delivery personnel was prompt and courteous, delivering to the my hotel room-better than room service any any day. I will revisit my next trip to Santa Rosa! read more

I read the reviews and decided to order some take out for dinner, 50 mins before closing. I ordered some garlic naan, chili chicken, and hot chicken curry with a side of rice. Everything was still steaming hot by the time I got home. The Garlic Naan was very good, nice and doughy, seasoned well, and a great size for $. The Chili Chicken was excellent and full of flavor. The size of the pieces of chicken were perfect bite size. The chicken was well coated with the fresh and spicy chili sauce. Only issue was that the vegetables could have cooked a bit longer. Well done, great value. Finally the curry chicken that I ordered hot, was indeed hot and very tasty. If you can withstand your spices this won't make you sweat, however it's definitely spiced right at that perfect level to get your mouth tingling. The pieces of chicken were the same size as the last dish which was great. The portion could have been a bit bigger for the price on this one, but the flavor and quality made up for that. I visited this restaurant with my sister and niece because we read the positive reviews. It did not disappoint!! We arrived at 5:30 and were the first patrons for dinner. But the restaurant filled up quickly. Our appetizer came quickly and was delicious- naan bread stuffed with spinach and spices. Our mains were delicious - the lamb was very tender, the spices/heat came exactly as ordered, and the wait staff was attentive. Can't wait to return! read more

However, an old couple walks in and she immediately greets and puts her mask on for them. Then when I threaten to cancel the Uber eats order because I waited there for 15 minutes. The trick to dining at Cumin is to order ahead via Door Dash and have it delivered to your table once you get there. I'm sorry Cumin, maybe we were there on an off night. We sat at our table for an hour before getting a first cup of tea; it was over 90 minutes before we got anything to eat. The dining room appeared to be taking a back seat to the take-out and Door-Dash type of orders, and the place was obviously understaffed. Come on guys, it was a Friday night. The food once arrived was not piping hot and definately not worth that kind of wait. To their credit, they took 20% off the bill. A comp round of appetizers or drinks would have gone a long way toward not being inspired to leave you a bad review. Hope you can get it together. We will be heading back to Yeti. read more

I know that take out and delivery is a mess on the weekends. But, as far as Cumin goes, the extra wait is worth it. I have stood in their take out line. I have waited for delivery. And, the end result is always food that is fresh and hot, flavorful, and well worth a wait. I hope I don't see people complaining about this restaurant. They are the hardest working, sweetest people you will ever meet. Please allow them to grow their business and be patient if your order doesn't arrive on time, or if you have to wait for pickup. The food is worth it, especially when it arrives hot. And they need our support. read more

After weeks of anticipation, I finally made it to Cumin for an early lunch. I ordered off the main menu, which is well-organized. The portions seemed generous, the chai was good. There are 5 (?) levels of heat/spice to chose from. Mild/medium for palak paneer (like saag panir), was exactly right. The service was attentive & friendly. The naan order was 2 LARGE, tasty naans, very generous! The reasons for only 3 stars: the dal soup was a bit watery & had almost no taste. The mango chutney is not made on-site, so I didn't try it. But I definitely want to go back, and try some other dishes, and a dessert! read more
