Doctor Doug Cunningham was a compassionate and gentle vet. He retired about two years ago and the office is open with a new vet taking over.

This vet service was excellent for many years for my 5 pet household. Then when the "wife" of the…read morevet took over it became abysmal. - Staffing cut so badly that the service is non-existent - Care insufficient, my dogs suddenly detected heart murmur was "no big deal a lot of dogs have murmur" WRONG my dogs murmur is level 4+. he needs specialized help or he'll die. - When I moved I requested the 5 years of records from their practice move to my NEW vet they REFUSED TO PROVED THE CARE RECORDS OF MY PETS TO MY NEW VET despite repeated requests by myself and my new (awesome) vet clinic. DO NOT REPEAT DO NOT put the care of your precious animals into the black hole of "mrs Baranack" (that's not the vet), she's the lady who married the vet and ruined his practice. Hey, Mrs B ---- Still waiting for your "Team" to send my babies records to Austinburg vet clinic. Don't dare try to malign me I was never anything but polite, on time and on freaking point managing my animals well being. I merely asked for records when I moved and your office refused and continues to refuse to provide records. This should be illegal. mrs baranack aka NOT A VET NOT A GOOD PERSON

I want to start this out by saying this is the first review I have ever left for anyone, I never…read morecare to waste my time like this... My normal vet clinic moved their location farther from my house, so I start searching for other clinics near me. My Bernese Mountain Dog had a red lump on his ankle that I wanted to be looked at, and he had two vaccinations that he needed updated. I completely understand that vet techs are working with animals that they do not really know, and want to keep their own safety in mind. However, I feel like the way they approach/handle animals and their communication can improve. Instead of asking my husband or I to have our dog sit, so they can look at his ankle... they came in the room (no instruction, no heads up, no anything) and immediately just started holding my dog down, choking him, and then when he started resisting (like any animal would, because you're literally causing it stress) then they decided to get a muzzle and restrain him even more. I was so baffled, I didn't really know how to respond. I just tried to comfort my dog and keep him calm. I was so genuinely confused as to why they didn't just ask me to show them his ankle. I've been to two vets in the past, Pet Guard Clinic in Massillon and Humble Creatures in North Canton and both of those vets have given my dog treats or simple ear scratches to distract him so they can look at him and/or give him vaccines. That tactic has always worked for my dog and I've always respected the past vet clinics who treated my animal with kindness, love, and made sure he was comfortable. I didn't appreciate how West Side Animal Clinic didn't talk to my husband and I before wrestling our dog down, didn't even ask my husband or I to have our dog sit or anything... it was very aggressive and I definitely learned my lesson by not going to my normal clinic! On top of the aggression with my animal, the Dr. tries to make little subtle jabs at you and talk down to you--definitely something for him to improve on personally. Maybe then, they'd have more clients and wouldn't have so many openings. Other than that, I'm happy he got his shots updated and to hear that his red lump is nothing cancerous and will go away..
