Why 4 stars? Because I enjoyed this Detroit-lite pizza. --- --- --- I am a big fan of Detroit style pizza, but Cup N Char is kind of its own thing. It's not cut into squares like traditional Detroit pizza and it's not quite as over-the-top thick. It's more like a slightly thicker than normal crust with charred edges. When I first arrived, my brother and his friend had been there for a bit and already had a couple of pizzas. I nabbed a slice of each and thought both were perfectly fine, but not really remarkable. In fairness, they had been sitting out for about 20 minutes at that point. I then ordered a supreme for me and my friend to share. At first, I had kind of a similar outlook as the slices I'd tried earlier: just okay. But as I kept eating, it really grew on me and I enjoyed it. The table shared some pizza rolls and some fries, which I snacked off of and enjoyed. Overall, I wish this place wasn't so far from my house because I'd love to try it again, but it was a good experience for our group overall.

I had lunch here for the first time yesterday and we had a great experience. This fast-casual pizza restaurant exudes a sense of cleanliness, openness, and modernity. Its minimalist and sleek decor creates a welcoming and stylish dining environment. You order at the counter, and when your food is ready, they bring it out to your table. The service was friendly and efficient. My partner and mom shared the Philly Steak Sub, while I ordered a medium custom pizza with black olives, spinach, and mushrooms to share with everyone. I absolutely love the unconventional square shape and unique cut of the pizza. The crust is crispy with a touch of fluffiness. To describe it best, I'd say it's a delightful fusion of a deep-dish and pan pizza. I like how they were fairly generous with the toppings. Also, unlike other pizzas I've had at other places, the pizzas here are not greasy or oily. This is definitely my new favorite pizza spot! 5/5 ya'll! =) *Ask for a side of their permeasan cheese. You won't regret it.

Ordered over the phone. Pizza was ready a few minutes earlier than expected which was nice. Got the medium super supreme. Ate from the box lol. Ingredients were fresh and hot pizza was delicious!! Can't wait to try their other pizzas in the future!

I ordered wings and cheese bread. The medium buffalo sauce for the wings was good. I also enjoyed the baked Italian. I didn't like the lemon pepper as much. The cheese bread was huge. Taste was ok. The cashier/staff was helpful, and the order is always ready when I come to pick up. Haven't tried the pizza yet, but will try it one day!

Saw a video and had to try this place out. So good!! Wanted to try the pizza logs and recommend them. As you can see we ate them before remembering to snap a picture. They look like egg rolls but stuffed with cheese and lots of pepperonis. Then the main course of the pizza was great! Great service and very fresh food! They also have pick up as well.

Best wings I've had in years! The wings were big, juicy, and perfectly cooked... no feathers on the chicken like you sometimes see at other spots. The blue cheese was amazing, and you can tell they use quality ingredients. The guy taking my order did seem a bit annoyed by my questions about the heat level of the sauces, but that won't stop me from coming back. I've definitely found a new go-to spot. The ambiance was really nice too, so I'll be dining in next time. Great spot -- 10/10!

The best pizza place in Houston. I've been to several pizza places especially in the Aliana/richmond area but none of them could match this place's quality in food or service. Can't go to any of the big brand pizza places anymore - I've recommended and taken friends and family to here over the past two years. Big variety of foods other than pizza included such as subs, fries, wings, and more. Every now and then they do limited time specials but what they offer basically is great selection. Customer service is great, you can order through the website or in person. Decent place to dine in as well, well cleaned and maintained, not big but not too small to dine in. The pizzas come in half, medium, large and party size. The Italian fries are amazing Highly recommend it especially if you tired of big chain pizzas

Super great pizza, some of my favorite that I've had in all of Houston. Crust is delicious, especially with all the crusty cheese on it. We tried the pepperoni and I believe the spicy margherita, both were great. The pepperoni lunch special was a fantastic deal, enough pizza to feed 2 people for less than $10. If there's a new pizza concept in Houston, I have to check it out. So when I started getting targeted ads for Cup N Char, it was only a matter of time before I dropped by. Cup N Char brings Buffalo, NY-style pizza to Houston. I wasn't aware this was a style of pizza, but the more I read into it, the more it seemed like the pizza style my dad would make when I was growing up in the Northeast. In particular, he would cut the long sticks of pepperoni into thick slices that would fill with magic pepperoni oil. Cup N Char's pepperoni is a little different because while the pepperonis are charred very nicely and do glaze a bit, they are not vats of oil. Still, they are pretty excellent. The pepperonis, cheese, and sauce were amazing. For me, I prefer a softer, more tender crust - but this is just my personal preference and I might just not want to go on a Buffalo, NY pizza crust tour. The business itself was incredibly tidy and spotless, and staff were extremely friendly. Cup N Char is a bit of a ride from Montrose, but I would definitely look to stop by again if I'm on the west side of town. Keep up the great work!

Ok.. best Pizza in Houston. Make sure to ask for the romano cheese blend to be added. Not too thin and not too thick, pepperoni has great char on it. Highly recommended. A medium easily feeds a family of 4, prices are more affordable than expected, since the sizes are deceptively larger than expected. read more

Wow. We went to Cup n Char with our kids and grandkids without knowing anything about it. The pizza was EXCELLENT! It looks like "thick crust" pizza, which I'm not a fan of. But the crust is so light and delicious! Sauce and toppings all the way to the edge. Really good quality food. The place is small and not fancy but the service is amazing. We ordered a half and half pizza and they brought it out to us already split into halves. We'll definitely be back! read more

This pizza is worth the drive! I wish there was a location in the city but it probably is best that I can't have this on a weekly basis! The food is fresh and made to order. The meat lovers pizza, lemon pepper wings and house salad is our go to order. Everything tastes fresh and made in house, down to the salad dressing. The lemon pepper wings are the best wings, hands down! They are wet and made with lemon zest. My mouth is actually watering just thinking about it! The location is small so it can get packed quick. It is not a sit down service, but more of a mix. The owner is the person who takes your order and is so kind and helpful. He brings your food to your table and checks in on you throughout your meal. You get your own drinks and refills. The only ding I would say is that it can take some time to get your food, especially if it is busy. Our work around is to order online, 45 min in advance, so by the time we get there, the food is ready or close to being ready. Please note, this is buffalo style pizza so don't expect traditional style, at least not yet. I hope the best for this place and can't wait for them to be able to have more locations closer to Houston! read more

I really did not expect this pizza to be as good as it is. I don't know why. Maybe the name threw me off. But this place is the truth. The pizza here is really really good. My Family and I ate here yesterday for the first time and we'll be back. The food was delicious! We ordered wings (lemon pepper and hot honey) and the meat lover pizza. First the wings were cooked perfectly. The outside was crispy and the inside was still moist (not dry like most places). Both flavors were delicious but the hot honey was definitely my families favorite. Now for the pizza. I had never heard of buffalo style pizza, so I was curious to try. I was not disappointed. Great pizza with a ton of toppings, not to saucy, perfectly melty cheese and the dough is crazy good. Worth the 30 minute drive. The place is very clean and the person that took our order was very friendly and explained all the pizza and wing options they offered. We look forward to out next visit. I'll recommend this place to everyone I know. read more

Love this place. Delicious pizza and really good wings. Pizza is always perfectly baked with crispy edges. I would describe it as a type of deep dish, but not Chicago style where you need a knife and fork to eat it with. Wings are not breaded and fried crispy. The honey hot wing sauce is my favorite! We've never dined in, but the inside is always very clean and inviting. Service is friendly. read more

Amazing experience. It was clean and bright and open. The owner was so friendly and made sure to check on us after bringing us the food. You can tell he really cares and puts a lot of love in the business. Best pizza and wings I've had in a long time. The wings were a great size and juicy. The sauce was on point I even licked the bottom of the box after we were done I couldn't get enough! The pizza was excellent. Not soggy or greasy even with being packed with ingredients. Perfect crust and the sauce taste homemade. The meats and cheese were excellent quality. I love the cupped pepperoni! 10/10 will be going back again. Great job cup n char ! read more

We are Buffalo transplants and this pizza is top tier. Ample toppings, perfectly cooked, great sauce and crust- we have yet to have a bad pie. If you've never had a chicken finger sub you are missing out- I implore you to order one and enjoy this closely kept Buffalo secret. The wings, chicken fingers, and subs are all amazing here as well. The customer service is always super attentive, kind, and courteous. We make the drive from Sugar Land every single weekend and it's absolutely worth it. You won't be disappointed! read more

My friend and I went to this place one day when she was in town. The pizza was really good, however, we really loved the cheese sticks. Came here for the first time while picking something up in the area. Customer service was excellent. The space is stylish, neat, and clean and they were constantly cleaning up immediately after tables were vacated. The food did not disappoint. We got the Philly cheesesteak and a half medium pizza. Made me homesick for Buffalo! Cup N Char has it down and everyone, I mean EVERYONE should experience authentic Buffalo style pizza and wings. They have gathered the best ingredients, make their own dough, sauces, etc. from scratch and it is absolutely delicious. The owner is on sight and the service is amazing. I recommend non-Buffalonians give it a try and you will find out how amazing WNY pizza and wings are. They have an amazing menu and an array of choices that will please everyone. Can you tell I really love their food? The Cup N Char has cute decor, is immaculately clean and plenty of seating, if you wish to dine in. GO!!!! read more

Took my grandsons here to celebrate the end of the school year. Food, staff, decor and even the packaging were all excellent!! For 19 and 15 year old young men with HUGE appetites, we got wings, veggie pizza, chicken finger pizza and Italian pizza...Gotta try it again!!! Highly recommend for anyone that loves NY style pizza....and even if you haven't had it, now is a good time to try it!! Heard about this place from the local Buffalo Bills backers Facebook page. Only have been open a week. Had the Meat Lovers and Grassy Steak Pizzas and both were Awesome. Crust is delicious and flavorful, just the right texture, not too hard and not too chewy. The toppings are fresh and cooked perfectly. The serving sizes were big so I had pizza for a couple of days, just heated up in my air fryer and still tasted great. The second visit I got the Grassy Steak for some coworkers to try and they loved it. I got the Philly Cheesesteak sandwich and it was so flavorful with the fresh baked bun with cheese baked in and the meat and veggies were very good. read more

We have the hot honey and I don't remember the other. All in all not bad.

Greeting customers when they walk in would go a long way, and calling out names when orders are ready instead of bringing food out and waiting for someone to look up for the "your food is ready" signal would definitely make things smoother.
