Horrible , terrible place I'm sure they don't get any business. They are very cheap. I walk in around 1pm on a Tuesday and there is two choices of pizza , bbq chicken or plain cheese n it doesn't look fresh at all. I walk in and ask like where is all the pizza? There was only like 4 old slices and he responds well what do you want, I say a slice of pepperoni he says maybe I put the pepperonis on the cheese?? He is asking me lol idk it seems like he is predicting he will have no customers so doesn't cook so there will be no waste and then he will save but it's weird maybe he just keeping it up until it shuts down. The food/pizza here is just okay, but the staff is friendly. Their pizza tastes like there's some key ingredients missing, marinara sauce? Or not enough of it used for the pizza. A few years ago, they used to have a variety of pizzas available for slices. These days, it's limited to cheese, pepperoni and maybe another 1 depending. My main issue is the cleanliness. There had been a dead giant roach in the women's bathroom for weeks, I'm not sure if it's still there now but up until a few weeks ago it's been there. So they clearly do not clean their restrooms. This is a huge red flag. If they don't clean their restrooms, I'm afraid to know what goes on back in the kitchen or with the actual food. Because if ya don't know what happened to the last owner he had some ice ice baby if ya know . Anyways the food here sucks it's cheap greasy pizza that taste like it's been picked up from the dirty floor . The deep dish/meat lovers is divine too. I'm glad there's only one of these places, rather than a whole Empire of them (ha, ha), because honestly, the pizza is so, so amazing that if they turned it into a massive chain like Russo's (a big local fave that is 3 times the price and about 3% as good, if that), I'm sure it couldn't possibly be this good. My pizza recs are very hard to come by down here in Texas. My NYC, Chicago, Buffalo, Detroit pizza standards are so stellar, I'm so spoiled, that it's not surprising that I rarely find a pizza that can do a thing for me. This is a huge exception. Empire Pizza does it like New York. They're delicious from the first bite to the last. They're filling, they're authentic, they're imaginative and yet the wholesome standard for a NYC slice place that isn't in NYC. I can't recall a better one outside the Pizza Belt (that cold region between Chicago and New York, for those not in the know). In fact it's the best slice I've ever had in the Southern USA. So while Christian Bale may have come onto our radar in Empire Of The Sun, you should come here because it's more along the lines of, Empire Of The Yum. read more

I used to love Empire Pizza. I reviewed it as 5 stars back a few years ago. But the new management direction is not doing this place any favors. The food is nowhere near the quality it used to be. The crust is flavorless, it used to be like a delicious sourdoughy flavor, now it's dry and bland and sad. The ambiance is dark and quiet inside. The staff are quite friendly. Online ordering doesn't work. Management, do yourself a favor and order a cheese pizza online and go pick it up like you're a secret customer. Eat a slice. I ordered a pizza 1 hour 40 minutes ago and never received it. The 2 times I called to check on my order they just say hello, I have to confirm that I'm calling Empire Pizza. They blamed the delivery service they use. It would be nice for them to call me to inform me what's going on. Whoever trained these employees needs a lesson on how to provide excellent service in answering calls and speaking with customers professionally. I asked for a refund and they asked for my phone number again that I provided to them at payment so they could send me a text of the refund. I haven't received the text yet on the refund and it's been 35 minutes. They take my money instantly but can't refund it as quickly. I guess I will call my credit card company to do a chargeback. Needless to say I won't be ordering from them anymore. read more

My bf and I only tried this place because they have deep dish pizza. I'm a fan of supreme pizzas, but their "Belly Buster" pizza actually had even more toppings, so of course we went with that one, plus a dozen garlic knots to treat ourselves. We placed an online order on a Wednesday at 6pm and it took 25 minutes. There were no problems with the order. Everything looked, smelled, and tasted delicious! The deep dish only comes in large, but it still felt bigger than I was expecting. I was in awe of how generous they were with the toppings! You could barely see cheese peeking out from how loaded this thing was. Flavor in every bite! The only thing that wasn't great was that the crust tasted a little bland compared to the rest of the pizza, but, luckily, the garlic knots came with marinara sauce, so dipping the crust in that solved that minor problem. The garlic knots were also delicious! You could see actual garlic in them, which I appreciated. All in all, this place can be pricey, but unless I find another pizza place that has deep dish up to this standard, I'll be coming back for sure! read more

I was in the area and craving pizza. I decided to take a chance on Empire Pizza. Upon entering, I noticed the decor was very fresh. The staff were friendly and greeted me immediately. I ordered a large pepperoni pizza to go. The pizza is legit. The crust is almost perfect. A true NY style crust. The sauce is fresh with real herbs in the sauce. There are even pieces of basill in the sauce. All the ingredients tasted nothing short of amazing. I give the pizza a 7.5/10 which is a pretty hard score to get when it comes to pizza in Texas. My only complaint is that while the crust was cooked to perfection, the cheese and pepperoni could have used more time in the oven. The cheese was not well melted in some areas and the pepperoni could have used some color. I know that when I reheat the leftovers in the air fryer, it's going to be a 10/10. The kids loved the pizza too. A true gem in Houston and very family friendly. I recommend you give them a try! read more

I was craving for some comfort food that I enjoy best. I came across this establishment by chance. I ordered for Delivery. I ordered Penne Ala Vodka with Grilled Chicken and a Dozen Garlic Knots with extra Marinara Sauce. Let's start with the Penne Ala Vodka, The sauce is delicious and I give it a 8.5/10. The Chicken is a bit dry for me but seasoning is on point so a 6.5/10. The Penne which is the pasta itself I give it a 1/10. Pasta was over cooked, I did not get that chewy texture from an Al dente pasta. Garlic Knots were mushy, non seasoned so that is a 2/10 had the Garlic knots been seasoned with the beautiful amount of Garlic they put on top then it would have been a 5/10. Perhaps I should try to dine in next time. I decided on Delivery due to the crazy rain and thunder that was going on. Again these are my thoughts and feelings. In search for good pizza in this area and I found this place on Google and Yelp. They both have about a 4 star rating so I was super excited to try it and boy was I 100% disappointed. When you first walk in, you don't even smell pizza, you smell cleaner. Not appetizing. The ordering style is almost like a buffet style where you stand in line and talk over a glass barrier telling the person what you'd like which is normal for a pizzeria. The pizza all looked pitiful sitting there but I still wanted to give it a chance. Food- It's basically re heated old pizza that doesn't even move when you pick it up. It's stiff, hard and the cheese has the texture of a rubber duck. The sausage on my 3 meat pizza was old, dry and basically fell apart when I picked it off. I also tried the buffalo chicken pizza which was no where near what buffalo chicken is. It was basically an old, crusty, sad pizza slice with little tiny pieces of chicken that was comparable to... I am not even sure. The flavor wasn't terrible, it had a nice smokey flavor, but it was disappointing. The only thing that I even semi enjoyed was the pepperoni pinwheel. The flavor was decent and it seemed to be a little better than the actual pizza but it still felt like it had been sitting out for hours. Atmosphere- the atmosphere was ok. The workers behind the counter were really nice and pretty welcoming so that was refreshing but smelling cleaner when you first walk in is not appetizing. Also, when we were eating, someone decided to use this harsh cleaner to wipe down ALL the tables around us and it fumigated our space while we were still eating. I understand wanting to be cleanly but you shouldn't spray chemicals so close to where people still have food on their plates. The restaurant was also blazing hot. It didn't feel like there was any AC on. I will not be back as I don't feel like what we had was worth $25.00. I could get much better quality at a mom and pops pizza place, easily. read more

I walked in this afternoon. There was no one else in the place, and neither of the 2 people working there acknowledged me. I just stood there looking at them while one was fiddling with the remote control for the TV, and the other was doing who knows what. After a few minutes I cleared my throat and put my hands up as if to say why, one of the guys finally asked me what I'd like. I ordered a slice to go, and after he put it in the oven to warm it up, he put it on a paper plate and in a paper bag. No pizza box or anything, so when I was carrying it to my car, the bottom of the bag was scalding my hand...so that was fun. And the pizza isn't even really good. The pizza is not good and the customer service is even worse. This might be New York style pizza, but it is definitely not New York Pizza!!! I won't be going back again. read more

They have a nice variety of different items you can order, but I wasn't feeling too adventurous so I just ordered a cheese pizza. It was really good! My husband had the buffalo chicken pizza which was also good. We decided to try a Nutella dessert pizza which was just meh. It just tasted like a plain piece of bread with Nutella slathered on it. I love this place because they do not serve any pork in the restaurant so I can pretty much eat anything here. I like that the pizza wasn't too thin or thick. I also had the wings I really liked the flavor of the buffalo hot. I was a little sad to see that they're taking some things off the menu but hopefully after Covid they'll bring them back. read more

My friends and I just tried this place out of curiosity, I will definitely becoming back. I ordered a Slice of Pepperoni and a 10 piece Mild Wings, the both of my meals were fresh and delicious. The pizza had a very authentic taste and will most definitely be ordered again. The wings were perfect and just right with the flavor, not to spicy but not flat either. My friends ordered a half Bbq Chicken half Margarita Pizza and Mango Habanero wings their food was good too especially that margarita pizza. Updating my review! Yes, I still 110% recommend this place for the plain, grandma, and ESPECIALLY, the Margherita slice. I've had all three and those are my absolute favorites. I've read a few reviews and even had a discussion or two with some people who tried Empire and gave lower ratings. However, in reading their reviews they rated the pizza based on what I like to call the "Exotic" slices. Ya know, the ones where pizzerias put toppings on pizza that don't belong (i.e.: buffalo chicken, teriyaki, BBQ chicken, etc etc.) I'm not faulting Empire for doing that. There were pizzerias in NJ that would do that. Try and get all cute and fancy with pizza toppings... No. As a hardcore pizza snob I would never order any of those types of pizza (except cheesesteak slices - that's a guilty pleasure). To me, there are some toppings that simply do NOT belong on a pizza (pineapple for example). So. With that being said. I will reiterate.... The plain slice was the "closest flavor to home that I've had since I've been in Texas. No other pizzeria has come close at all. At. All." From the crust to the cheese to the sauce - it was a home run. The texture, the aroma, THE FLAVOR - home run. And that Margherita! They nailed it. These boys are from NJ (as am I) and they brought me back to the days where we'd go EVERYDAY to a pizzeria for lunch in High school. And forget it...if mom didn't wanna cook after working all day - guess what was for dinner? Pizza! Call ahead and order take out to avoid waiting! You won't get a cold pie - it'll be hot and bubbling ready to be eaten. Enjoy!
