Have been wanting to try out this coffee shop for a while. We picked up two iced coffees mine being a barossa, my husband's was a blondie of some sort with apple flavoring. Staff were incredibly kind and welcoming. The coffee was a little too sweet for my personal taste but will make sure to ask for less sweet when I order next time. Nice to have a local coffee shop in the East Mesa area, we will definitely be back! read more

We were heading back to the West Valley after camping at Usery Mountain Regional Park and stopped in for a coffee & snack. The shop is delightful and inviting. We were quickly greeted and the barista helped us with the menu, made some recommendations and took our order. She was very friendly and engaging. The raspberry muffin was tasty and flavorful without vein overly sweet. The raspberry cinnamon role was delicious and my son said it was one of his favorites he's ever had. The iced bendigo with oat milk light sweet was flavorful. My son said his blended caramel chocolate hazelnut drink was really good with good flavor and a balance of sweetness with coffee. We will definitely drop in any time we are in the area and they are open. read more

Stopped by the most friendliest coffee shop I've ever been to in Mesa! My husband and I finished a hike at Superstition and decided to check out our Cup of Joey. We were greeted not too long after browsing the menu by the owner, Steve. He introduced the menu to us and gave us some recommendations. Very friendly along with the staff and baristas. I got the #14-Launceston. Very delicious! My husband got the LilliPilli. We both added on some breakfast burritos that did not disappoint! The burritos were well balanced with egg, potatoes, bacon, onions and cheese. Clean tables. Fun environment for kids. Tables for studying. We will definitely be back! read more

We found Cup of Joey on Yelp while hunting for a coffee spot after a hike and we're so glad we did! We had a couple of delicious coffee beverages (lots of great choices there) and two tasty breakfast burros. We sat outside on this lovely morning with our faithful trail companion, Chloe, our golden retriever. The owner delighted her with a pup cup full of bacon treats and whipped cream, which she devoured of course. He helped make sure we were all comfortable, really great service and delicious coffee and breakfast, we will be back! read more

The drinks aren't good in Australia, even though it seemed like an American woman was making them. First off. Can you write the names of your drinks in larger print? Second. The syrup from the #11 was all at the bottom of the drink. The owner taking orders is very annoying too. read more

Big coffee drinker, after a long flight into town I found this lovely gem of a coffee shop. The place reminds me of home, the environment was welcoming and friendly when you see multiple small groups of people enjoying themselves and sipping on their coffee. Met one of the owners who was extremely funny, friendly, and nice. The barista did get stuck talking to a regular in front of me but that didn't stop another from jumping in to assist my order. The coffee is pretty next level with so many variety's and flavors. I got the Subiaco iced. Carmel/apple latte. It was so savory. They mixed the perfect hints of Carmel and apple. If one was a bit more than the other maybe Carmel but only because it blends so well with the natural coffee taste. I just wish I hadn't gotten whole milk and didn't even think about it when they asked but only because I'm lactose . Highly recommend trying this place. read more

BEST COFFEE SHOP I have been to. Excellent variety of drinks, coffee, teas, lemonades made by the listed choices and also they can custom what you see and a great variety of snacks to go with your drink. They also sell Tshirts, sweatshirts, sunglasses, hats and fancy barbies in a box ready to gift someone if you need a present. Toys on sight for kids to play with to keep them entertained and excellent music choice on the big screen.Baristas are very attentive and offer great recommendations. Got to meet the owner and his wife and they are good people that care about who walks into their establishment. We will be back and are telling all our friends. My good friend and I met up for coffee here and brought the kiddos ages 9 months to 3 years old, and I am grateful for the grace and patience of the staff here! There is a play corner for the kids to enjoy, while the adults drink their coffee. Our sons had a blast, and while they got a little crazy at different moments, the owner and the staff were really gracious. As far as the food, it was great, house-made, and decently priced, especially considering the portions. 10/10 would come here again! read more

Steve, Amy, Mary... if I knew all their names I'd shout them all out because everyone here is excellent! The coffee is perfect, and always customized to exactly how sweet I like it. You can totally see these chocolate chips were measured with a heart and not a cup! As side from wonderful baked goods the coffee is delicious. You can taste the care they took in selecting everything in the menu. I made my husband drive out of his way to stop there. So if you love delicious coffee and baked treats then you definitely want to support this local business. Once you meet the owner who hangs out and greets everyone, you'll be hooked. read more

Such an incredible coffee shop!! We took our son and his girlfriend today and was greeted with such joy. You can tell how much the staff cares. But not only excellent service but excellent coffee. The 4 of us each got different iced coffee drinks and food and all of it was SO delicious!! We ate like we haven't eaten for days. The muffins, breakfast burritos, and cinnamon rolls tasted so good and fresh! I loved the energy and just a happy place. I got a cucumber water to go and that was so refreshing and yummy too! This coffee shop is a true neighborhood gem. Not only is the coffee top-notch -- smooth, flavorful, and always served fresh -- but the vibe is what keeps me coming back. The owner greets everyone like an old friend, and somehow seems to know just about every customer by name. Went for the first time this past weekend and discovered that the owner happened to live a street behind me. Had a funny exchange with the local sheriff department as well. I walked up to the door and tried to push it open, but it didn't move at all. I had to pull way harder than should ever be necessary for a coffee shop door. (And no, the place wasn't closed--it was just that stubborn.) When I finally got inside, I went up to the counter and asked the barista what their most popular drink was. She barely looked up from her phone, rolled her eyes, and said, "Just look for yourself," and whispered "lazy" before going right back to whatever she was doing. I just stood there for a second, trying to decide if she was having a bad day or if that was just her personality. I ended up ordering a black coffee, something simple. She turned the payment screen around for me, and I tipped 20% like I normally do. Right as I hit the button, she made this annoyed noise, grabbed the screen, and changed it to a seventy-five percent tip--like it was nothing. Then she handed it back to me without saying a word. I honestly didn't know what to do. I just stood there thinking, "Did that seriously just happen over a cup of coffee?" read more

I love this place but don't get there often because they close at noon. I so wish they were open in the afternoon as that's when I need a pick me up and I love to meet friends for coffee at 2-3PM to chat. I don't even know where to begin. Cup Of Joey is what every coffee shop should strive to be! Their service is actually impeccable and I've found no comparison thus far. Their food is amazing and made locally by chef Kristi. Steve and Amy are absolutely lovely and really have created an amazing and welcoming environment for everybody. They have a huge selection of books for children to adults that you can take and bring back or drop off your unwanted books at. They have a play area for kiddos which is something way more coffee shops should invest in. Rebecca and Mark always brighten my day and so do the rest of the team. They make you feel like family! I visited Cup of Joey for the first time today, and it was an amazing experience! The owner greeted us right away and could tell we were first-timers. He made us feel so welcome and created some laughs. The coffee was so good and just what I needed. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the service was top-notch. The avocado toast consists of: hand smashed avocado, lemon, Himalayan sea salt and olive oil. Overall, I found it a bit underwhelming as it needed red chili flakes, fresh cracked pepper, everything bagel seasoning, or even a drizzle of balsamic glaze to elevate the flavor. Though, I appreciated the freshness of the avocado and lemon. It just needed that little bit to go from a decent avocado toast to an exceptional avocado toast! Next visit, I'd look over the menu to see if there was a toast with more flavor. Previously before this last visit, I had stopped in here once not realizing it was a mostly vegan shop and purchased a take home Hatch Mac n Cheese. I didn't realize at the time of purchasing it contained tree nut, so I gifted to my cousin who said it was delicious. A mistake on my part to read the label more carefully (laid out differently than a typical label at a store). I tend to avoid Vegan restaurants as tree nuts are heavily used, but this location has been a great compromise of offering both vegan and dairy products (serving whole milk versus cream). Lastly, this place has cozy seating and a good atmosphere. Definitely a place I can leisurely sip a drink or enjoy some avocado toast.
