My wife an I have enjoyed The Cupboard Cafe for years. Proprietess Mary Dee has built a better mousetrap in the breakfast and lunch market. She is as warm and welcoming as her food is delicious. The Cafe is small and cozy and offers outside seating in the summer. The breakfast sandwiches are wonderful and the sticky buns and cinamon buns are worth breaking your diet! One of thse days, the Cupboard will be "discovered" as an off the beaten path gem, so get there before you get crowded out! read more

We arrived at 10:50 to find that breakfast service ended at 10:45 and that they were out of buns and rolls. We were allowed to order breakfast sandwiches and from the lunch menu, though they told us it would be an extra wait while the kitchen switched shifts. My disappointment over the rolls soon vanished after getting my smoked salmon breakfast sandwich on their homemade oatmeal bread. My husband got the Carni sandwich with eggs, cheese and sausage. My dad got the same and his was delivered just before... He took one bite and told my husband: you're not going to like yours, you should give it to me. Mom got the chicken sandwich and said it was excellent. I ate mine all gone, then got up for a slice of their blueberry pie. Perfect crust with perfect filling, amazing. Went there for breakfast with hubs, our two little ones (2 & 5) and my in laws. Cute cabin, very bright and spit spot clean. An old Fashioned dumb waiter carries food from lower kitchen. The line to order intimidating--no tables and the process is to wait at counter and seat yourself. But I say to everyone who worries about that: TRUST IN THE SYSTEM! Food took a while (it was very busy) but was absolutely FANTASTIC. Best egg sandwich (veggie) I ever had. Hubs' omelet was to die for and the kids enjoyed sticky buns and pancakes. Everything good that anyone has written about this place is true and their baked goods are THE BEST and my mom was a terrific baker so I know. My recommendation is to try the french toast. This is the only place that, in my opinion, makes it correctly. They totally soak the bread ( excellent bread by the way ) in egg. It's more like a custard dessert- the way it should be. Most places just touch the outside of the bread in egg and it's dry inside. Try it. Then take a sticky bun home for later. read more

It's now a yearly family tradition to get sticky buns for breakfast from this amazing place every year. I'm sure there's a ton of butter and sugar in them, but don't care. Understandably, this place gets really crowded so I'd either allow some time to wait in line or get there really early before everyone else. The cinnamon buns are also really good. I frequently travel all over the United States and have yet to find such an incredibly delicious fare. The Cupbaord has it all, a wonderfully relaxed New England hometown atmosphere, generous portions and everything, except the chips are homemade! I wish one could find such a gem here in Texas, however, on occasion I have had the sticky buns and cinnamon buns shipped overnight, what a treat! The prices are more than reasonable for the quality and portions of food, don't miss out on this rare find, and if you go home hungry, I would suggest a sticky bun to go! Delicious food, sometimes very crowded and wait is long. There is a tip jar which seems to be an extra amount of greed as prices are high, you pour your own coffee, you clean up your own table and put your dirty dishes in containers. The tip jar seems like an extra insult. Sorry, to say this because you will get wonderful food. It's family owned and the only service you do get is the food is delivered to your table. We always try to stop at the Cupboard on Huddle Road for sticky buns and coffee whenever we're in the New Harbor area. It's a little difficult off-season to find the place open, we're always disappointed when we see it's closed, but it's very exciting when we do get to eat there. I stopped by The Cupboard this morning for my yearly visit. The food is always delicious. I had an omelet, while others in my party had pancakes and hash. Everyone enjoyed their choices. We had two of the cinnamon rolls and took one to go. If you can get them while they're hot, I swear a better cinnamon roll cannot be found! Highly recommended. read more

Well, I hate to tell you, but it's the best! The food is delicious, fresh, hearty, plentiful and the people love on you like you are in their home! I'm not exaggerating when I say this, but this is perhaps my favorite restaurant on the planet - - especially since you can afford to go to this one multiple times in a single week. I've never had a bad meal here - never even had a so-so meal. I've even found myself trying things that don't sound that good to me, only to discover yet a new gem! If you're on the Pemaquid Peninsula, you must go here.
