The rooms were NOT ready at the check in time of 4pm. I had reserved 6 rooms and requested we be have rooms close to each other, but since the rooms weren't ready at 4pm, my family was reassigned rooms which left my 90 year old aunt across the hall from my cousin who was caring for her. Additionally, I left my room in the morning to have breakfast only to return to my room (which had a DO NOT DISTURB sign on the door) being addressed by housekeeping. I called to notify the front desk that I still had an hour to check out and was told a manager would speak to the employee. About ten minutes later the housekeeping employee re-entered my room, WHILE I WAS IN THE BATHROOM, to ask me when I was checking out. I firmly told her I would be checking out at their posted check out time of 11am!!!!!! I can't imagine why housekeeping would invade guest privacy. It seems as if this hotel doesnt know the meaning of hospitality. read more

Checked into the Cupertino Inn to very friendly staff who helped me throughout the process. Location is great; right next to a Safeway. The hotel was clean and radiant, both of which are bonuses. The room is huge. Can certainly fit a family of four in a room with two double beds. The carpet, though, was a little bit stained and the room could have been better lit. Lastly, the building is not sound proof at all, so you can hear anyone walking on top of you or on the adjacent room. The breakfast was delicious though, so A+ to that. One thing is for sure, it is just DRAMA. I was there. I have my hotel receipt. I was called and was directed on where to go. Exit signs are clearly marked and fire department knew what to do. Beware: Hidden Fees! I was charged an extra $40 upon checking out. According to the employee at the front desk, this was a "resort fee" that was added on to the bill of any guest who booked through a website like cheap tickets. Now this hotel says that it is my fault for not booking through them directly. So let me get this straight--you sell your empty rooms through other sites and then add on a hidden fee and then blame the customer for not booking directly. The reason consumers book through rate savings sites is to save money and hotels get to fill their empty rooms at the last minute. If I wanted to pay full price, I would have contacted you directly. This is just blatant hidden fees. And you got the $40, BTW, not the other website. I just want others to be aware of this sneaky tactic so they can make an informed choice. read more

What would have been a three stars stay quickly turned into a one star review this morning when my husband smelled smoke while we were still in bed from our second floor room. I quickly got up and peeked outside to the swimming pools to find smoke from everywhere. We started grabbing for clothes and shoes as I heard someone calling to room 215, two doors from us and then nothing and no one else. My husband soaked a hand towel with cold water, gave it to our four year old daughter and my family rushed ourselves out. A smoke alarm first turned on about 10-15 minutes before but quickly stopped after a couple of minutes making my family and I believe that maybe someone smoked a cigarette too close to an alarm. We didn't hear a loud consistent fire alarm, it again sounded more like a smoke detector going on and off. When we exited our room we realized that there are no signs pointing to stairs or any fire exits in the hallways. We were lucky the breakfast cook was in the outside patio across the hotel and I yelled to him asking for where the stairs were. He visibly kept his eyes on us to make sure we entered the right door to the second floor lobby where we found several doors that again were unmarked as pictured in one of our photos. We were lucky another hotel guest was right behind us and showed us which one led to the stairs. Once waiting in the lobby we watched multiple firefighters walk in circles because the door leading to the stairs from the lobby was also unmarked. Guests were telling the firefighters where to go. In the end we were able to go back to our room and gather the rest of our belongings. My family and I quickly changed, grabbed the rest of our stuff and headed to the lobby. From my understanding, a fire erupted from the laundry room which was several doors to the right, downstairs from where our room was. The fire took three fire trucks and about 6-8 firefighters to quickly contain and extinguish. When we were checking out the front desk personnel said nothing more than what he was expected. He said we were good for our check out and set for the day. He did not apologize for any inconveniences that the ordeal might have caused us. He did not bother asking us about our stay or even how we were doing upon arriving to the front desk. The rooms here are clean and great looking even though there is no mini refrigerator available for use and they charge $2.50 for a regular twix candy bar. But I didn't get the sense that my business mattered to this establishment so we probably won't be back and I probably won't recommend the place. This star goes to the cook who kept cooking for guests through the smoke and for the woman kitchen personnel who kept the coffee and hot water replenished and the lobby clean with a smile. That's all. In Response to Management who's responded to my review: Please don't apologize for things you clearly don't take responsibility for because it only makes the apology empty. Thank you for telling the yelp community what's verified by the fire department. But as a guest in your hotel who was present at the time of the fire on your property this morning, I stand firm on what I experienced today. I Did Not get a phone call from your staff alerting my family of the fire. I Did Not see Signs for Staircases on or around the doors leading to the 'Stairs.' I Did Not see posted signs in the hallways or walkways for 'Stairs.' Guests Did Have to tell firefighters where the staircases are on your property when they first started arriving. For the safety of your future patrons it would be helpful to also post these signs instead of just marking exits as you claim. I can only given three because I have to take two stars is away for terrible service. Their checkout time is at 11 and if you request a 1115 or 1130 check out it's an additional $50, period. I know this hotel will always be busy because of its location but that's no excuse to treat your customers poorly. When I came down to the front desk to ask nicely for a later check out the clerk would not even look up from his computer screen, he just said it'll be $50. Be wary of selfish Friday night revelers at 1am: stomping around, laughing loudly, and being repugnant. They can be heard through the paper thin walls above you. You'll give them a chance and call them directly to tell them to keep it down. You'll even wear ear plugs but you'll still hear them. You'll give them 10-15 minutes to quiet down. Nope - it's a good idea to call the cops (you will be transferred to the sheriff dept) FIRST, because the front desk will not pick up. The sheriff dept will come and handle the situation quicker than the hotel's non-existent front desk, and their excellent "customer service" will be delivered 49 minutes later. This hotel confirmed they had ADA wheelchair rooms before I booked. It's a big deal to me as I am in a wheelchair and I choose hotels based on my ability to use them. (Obviously) Upon checking in I went to my room and unpacked and went to shower after my 7 hour drive. I went in the bathroom to see it was a regular bathtub with handle bars. Not even a shower seat. I called and asked to move to a roll in shower room. I was told this is all they had. Even the sinks are impossible to use if your in a chair. I then emailed the hotel and asked to be excused from my stay and find a closer hotel that I could actually shower. I heard nothing back from management and probably won't. I also got stuck on the carpet 4 times in the breakfast area. I saw 5-6 people trip will their plates/drinks in hand EVERY MORNING and the staff sees this and just straightened out the carpet (only lasts 2-3 Mins) before the next person trips and almost face plants. Anyyyyways. Only really relates to people who have disabilities or are in a wheelchair. After spending $250 a night, I would've like to at least shower or wash my face in the sink and my four days there. I had to go to Ulta next-door and pay $40 to wash and blow dry my hair. Oh, let's begin with a bit of negativity. Do not be fooled by the name. This is a hotel. The website portrays it (with deeply colored photos and descriptions like "small inn") as something quaint and villagesk. Again, this is a hotel. 90's drab architecture, blocks and water fountains and in the heart of a whole lot of urban nothingness. Now, why should it get four stars? Price and accomodations. I got a room for 140 that usually ran 370. A two room suite with two queen beds, a mini bar and two T.V.s. The only reason to stay here is for wine country and to be close to one of the best concert venues in Northern California: The Mountain Winery. The "Inn" also got four stars because (1) it was wildly clean, (2) the staff were great (bringing up a microwave and four extra pillows upon request and quickly at that), (3) free full breakfast (self-serve with the traditional stuff: waffles, eggs, sausage, toast, fresh juice, organic coffee) and, finally, comp. limo rides to the airport. For a non-inn (i.e., hotel) you cant beat it (if this price lasts). read more

Stayed here when I was working a local comedy club. They provide you with free limo service around town and to the SJ airport (or they'll pay for a cab), free breakfast spread (waffles, eggs, fresh fruit) and free h'ors devours and cocktails 5-7p (you should tip on the cocktails, of course). They also provide you with complimentary passes to the Y nearby for use of gym facilities, which I much prefer to hotels whose "fitness facilities" are one run-down stairmaster and a few free weights. I went in for a biz trip. Upon checking in the front desk asked if I would like to have the "key" to the mini bar which would mean extra fees and to which I said no. There was a bowl of candies/chocolates on this desk in the room and I took one piece of chocolate. It turns out whatever in that bowl was also part of the mini bar and thus I was charged for that piece of chocolate. Obviously it would not require any "key" to access to that bowl sitting on the desk. I hope the front desk had told me that, and in fact I still don't even know where the mini bar would be in the room. Well buyers you can decide for yourself. I guess learn my lesson and don't touch anything until you specifically ask them if you don't know for sure. Otherwise they would be happy to charge you. Wifi was quite slow. ---------------------------------------------------------------- It doesn't matter if these are the same procedures in the entire universe as infrequent travelers who happen to be too busy to read everything simply wouldn't know. What I liked: Big room, clean, very nice, large restroom, nice swimming pool and mostly the staff is super nice. Free happy hours from 5 to 7pm and breakfast included, free wi-fi. What I didn't like: Several rooms are very noisy due to the highway that is really really close. Watch out about the rooms at the 4th floor since they have installed cellular antennas on the top of the building and the antennas are couple of yards away from your head. The carpet in the three rooms I've inspected, is old and needed to be changed. The building is old and it doesn't look good outside and in general. The air conditioning in the rooms is very noisy. it's ok for one/two nights, if you plan to stay more find a better place. read more

Stayed here for the last 3 nights on business and I've been pleasantly surprised. I was told by co-workers this place was kind of a dump but I figured I'd give it a try. So glad I did. I'm staying in a 2 queen bed suite and it's very nice. There is a small sitting area as you come in that has a couch, mini bar, work table and a TV. It's a great little area to get work done or watch TV without being in the bedroom. The bathroom is well appointed with everything you could ever want including double sinks and tilting mirrors. The bedroom has a second TV and the furniture is nice. There's a very large full length mirror and large shutters on the windows. I was really surprised how fast the free wifi is, fastest of any hotel I've ever stayed at. The mini bar fridge is fully stocked with alcohol, soda, water, and snacks. The prices are way lower than most places. $1.50 for water etc... Other pros, free full breakfast buffet in the morning and free happy hour drinks and food 5-7pm. They also offer free limo service to your work and to a free gym in the area. The one and only con for me was the shower. They clearly put a lot of thought into all the furniture and amenities but the shower was old and the water temp was inconsistent. Overall it was a great stay and I'll definitely be back. read more

The room was very clean, had a spacious living room and two queen beds. The beds are EXTREMELY comfortable! Our room was also next to the pool/jacuzzi which was very convenient! We took our bottle and had a few drinks while we chilled in the hot tub. There is also a complimentary breakfast with eggs, sausage, fresh squeezed juices, coffee, tea, fresh fruit, cereal, and even a waffle-maker! The second time I've stayed there was this past weekend with my boyfriend. We had a room on the fourth floor with a king-size bed. Again, the room was spacious, clean and the beds were super comfortable. If you are ever in the area, this is your hotel! It's definitely a hidden gem with an affordable rate! read more

There is a flat screen TV in the room and the rooms are modern and clean. There is free WiFi available in-room and is decently fast for free WiFi. Did I mention free breakfast and free happy hour? FREE HAPPY HOUR??!?! WHO DOES THAT. This place and I think that is worth it right there to stay here! The staff is very accommodating, friendly and helpful. This is, especially since their remodeling of the rooms, a comfortable place to stay while on business. There were also a lot of kids during my latest visit in July, so I assume it's good for kids, though Cupertino is a very businessy area. In February, the room was "eh". I walked in thinking I was in a glorified Best Western. And, after my first night in SFO at a really swank Sheraton for $40 less per night, I was shocked. In July, it seems the remodel had gotten applied to all but one floor, from what I heard. Thankfully, I was in one of the updated rooms. I walked in as was like, "WOW! Did I get upgraded?" Don't be fool by this place, the room are old and some smell really bad, possible due to the carpet which is so black. I book two room should have been adjoining which I was told so, however the room were not. I have my child stay in room next to me. My child room the mini bar lock was broken, however the room didn't smell as bed because the A/C was a new system with Auto turn on and off. My room didn't have an new A/C unit the air was so loud sound like a plane taking off and had to manually turn on and off. The bathroom smell like mold. The carpet to the bathroom was running and expose. I was so unable where there breakfast , they might have over book, it felt like a crowd from the stadium and there mother came to eat. The pool was so pack and the not enough chair to set on. I should have paid alittle bit more and stay at Hyatt House , my sister stay there and the room was clean and nice. read more

I used to live in California. I was missing the friends I made. So I joined my husband on his business trip to Cupertino. We were greeted warmly at the front desk- given details about breakfast and use of the YMCA, nearby. The next morning and every morning we had wonderful breakfasts. The cooks and wait people could. Not be any nicer. Housekeeping staff was nice and always making sure we had what we needed. The desk staff always left you with a warm greeting. The pool is beautiful, the rooms are comfortable. We stay at this hotel frequently when we are nearby for soccer tournaments. They have a great buffet hot breakfast and the pool/jacuzzi is great for everyone. The only problem is that the doors slam shut and you can hear the doors slamming all night long. I have stayed in numerous hotels throughout my 21 years of life and I have to say that the cupertino inn was a refreshing surprise. I wasn't expecting too much of the place, looks fairly generic on the outside but the inside is quite pleasantly decorated. The room I stayed in was quite spacious for the price with very attentive cleaning services. The real highlight is the free perks. Breakfast is completely free and boy is it delicious. I was expecting your usual continental affair of muffins and coffee. Instead I found a full made to order omelet service along with a few other buffet options, fresh fruit, all the juice you can drink, endless coffee, and even a waffle maker. It was glorious to have every morning. There is also a pool and hot tub open late hours. Oh and who can forget the nightly happy hour with free drinks and food, with the options changing every night. Stayed here for a business trip (wow! Look ma, I'm all grown up!) As other reviews state, this is an older property. BUT don't let that deter you from booking here. Upon arrival, the staff was incredibly friendly.They made sure to tell us about their complimentary happy hour every night with snacks. Handed us our trading card keys (I will come back to that) and we were on our way. The room was nice, with the perfect amount of comfort. The bathroom was ginormous, which is always a plus because in my experience hotel bathrooms are cramped worse than a football player in the Texas heat. My only complaint in regards to the room is that the doors didn't close. I realized I had to stay behind and pull it closed. This seems like a red flag, especially when you have executives from tech companies at this hotel. The staff was so accommodating and extremely helpful. A lot of time and preparation goes into their daily offerings from breakfast to happy hour and I appreciated that. It's not often you see a hotel go out of their way to please their guests with the smallest of details. I think this makes up for the dated look of the hotel. The weirdest and most interesting part of my stay was the hotel trading card keys. This was definitely a personal touch that sparked a lot of interest from my co-workers. On the keys are pictures of each of the hotel staff, while I didn't manage to get any autographs I plan to work on that during my next stay. read more

I live in Cupertino and am selling my home. Surprise!! The new protocol for showing a home for sale is that the owners move out, during the showings. OUCH!! I have 2 dogs and had no idea where I could move to :-( as I have no family in the area. Asking friends to put me up for a week with my husband and dogs seemed rude. I then heard the Cupertino Hotel would allow all of us (2 and 4 legged) to stay here. WOW!! Not only is the staff some of the nicest folks I have met in the 40 some some years living in Cupertino ( OK, I should say on the earth) but the accommodations are spotless, clean, wonderful dog friendly large rooms, grounds for the dogs, great amenities, lovely pool, spa etc. I was formally a company executive and have been to hotels all over the country. I find the Cupertino Hotel to be superb, I want to personally thank all of the staff and Ms. Suelee for her kindness, caring and allowing all of us to stay at this wonderful hotel. We like it so much we have extended our stay to a week. The neighborhood, shopping and restaurants are lovely and within walking distance from the hotel. I have mixed feelings about the Cupertino Inn. The rooms are fairly nice, newish, and clean, but the WiFi doesn't really work, the breakfast is pretty bad, and traffic noise permeates all corners. On the bright side, they do have a convenient parking lot (no need to valet park), pool, and hot tub. Also, happy hour drinks are free (plus tip) every night. Do Not Judge A Book By It Cover...in this case! The exterior looks like a commercial building & most def not a hot hotel. But once you enter from the sliding glass doors you'll be in heaven. This hotel is a gem. I'm madly in love. The rooms are immaculate & if you stay in a suite is more like a small apartment. The decor is gorgeous & rich & very much like a home. It's just GORGEOUS! The hotel is right off the 280 so getting lost (like I would anyway!?) so stay you won't be disappointed. read more
