We picked up some cookies, brownies, and cupcakes from this spot and they were super good. Big plus points for being nut-free, there are not a lot of options for those with severe allergies. As someone who has a person in the family with severe allergies to nuts, I am hugely appreciative of Cupid's. The brownies were the best I have ever had and I ended up eating way too much. I love the idea of having a neighbourhood bakery, so I bring my kids here when we go for walks. However, every time I go in with my double stroller (fits through a door no problem but is longer in length), the lady behind the counter pretends she can't see me and never comes to help open the door. This wouldn't be an issue if the bakery was AODA compliant. There's no accessibility button, and the door stop doesn't reach the ground low enough to hold the door open wide enough. The same lady doesn't like it when the method of payment changes (e.g., debit to cash) even if it means the bakery could save on the transaction fee. She told me "I've already set up the machine". For anyone looking for alternative bakery, I highly recommend Sugar Suite (10-minute drive). read more

Popped by this bakery to purchase last minute mini cupcakes for a birthday and I was pleasantly surprised! They had a small selection of cupcakes and mini cakes, so I got a half dozen assorted to drop off to the birthday girl and got a red velvet cupcake, mint chocolate brownie, and mini chocolate ganache cake to try. This all came out to about $20. The red velvet cupcake was good, and like other reviewers mention, not sickeningly sweet. The chocolate ganache cake hit the spot, with the right amount of cake to ganache - perfect to share. I did find the mint chocolate brownie a bit too decadent though because the top mint and chocolate layers are like icing/ganache. I found the service good as well, and it was a little more personal as only one person is allowed in store at a time. All in all, we're happy we found this little bakery and look forward to trying some more sweets! read more

I love those Mini Cupcakes ($1.10) from Cupid's Gourmet Cupcakes. They are so pretty, colourful and just look great for the photos. I found my Prince (Signature chocolate buttermilk cake, dreamy blue vanilla frosting, chocolate shavings) here!! I Heart Canada (Maple and cinnamon cake, pure maple syrup frosting, cinnamon sugar sprinkles) is great for Canada Day!! The cakes were both moist with great texture and the frosting has perfect sweetness. And thinking about it, I should have got 6 of them for $1 each with no tax so I can try more flavours! read more

I called to confirm if they could do a birthday cake on a specific day for my son's birthday. They said yes, so I said that I would come right away to put in my order for that day. When I arrived, less than 10 minutes later, the customer right in front of me wanted a cake for the day before the date I wanted. However, the rep convinced her to order on my date. I overheard her offer the other customer an earlier pick up time. When I went to put in my order, they said that they couldn't do my cake until the afternoon, on that date. I said that my son's party was in the morning. So she asks if I can send someone else to pick up the cake in the afternoon. I repeated that the party is in the morning. Then I asked if I could get it earlier and she said a firm no. At that point, I left as they didn't want my business. Over the years, I have tried to order cakes from this bakery and they repeatedly show no interest in trying to accommodate a customer's needs. I thought that I could try again and they disappointed me, again. At least I can say that they were consistent in how they run their business...poorly. read more

Me and my friend decided to go on a cupcake adventure by starting off our first visit at Cupid's Gourmet Cupcakes. Let's just say that the trip from Mississauga to Oakville was worth the trip! The cupcake shop is very small and can get quite crowded very quickly. I decided to buy a half dozen box of full-sized cupcakes, which cost $12.90 (no tax). My friend bought the half dozen box of mini-sized cupcakes, which cost $6.60 (no tax). The 3 flavours that we both decided to get were The Prince, The Princess, and Red Velvet. I've only ate 2 so far so I can't review the red velvet cupcake just yet. The cakes are moist and the frosting is quite sweet. I'm not a huge fan of sweets so I thought the frosting was a bit too sweet for my liking. Between the prince and princess, I preferred the prince more...probably because chocolate is my preferred flavour over vanilla. Now that I think about it, I think I should've bought the mini-sized cupcakes...cupcake overload! read more

I went into Cupid's Cupcakes recently and ordered a dozen mini cupcakes. We were having a big birthday party for my teen and a friend had a nut allergy. I don't mind going a little out of my way distance-wise because the quality at Cupid's has always been amazing! Well...not anymore :( I tried one of the cupcakes myself and noticed right away that they don't have that same fresh baked flavour. Cupid's always had a nice fresh flavour, like expensive vanilla and it was part of the uniqueness of this bakery. It was such an amazing flavour that I would always compare other bakeries cupcakes to Cupid's Cupcakes! In my opinion it was the Moet of cupcakes. And I have gone to many baking shows and met many famous bakers, so I have a very discerning palette! LOL I also noticed that the cupcake didn't seem as moist as what I remembered in the past. Which is not good since I went into the bakery and purchased them first thing in the morning. I have been a long time fan of this bakery. I was one of the first customers when they only had a little cupcake stand in the local mall and before they even had the current bakery. I was a such a fan that every birthday party anyone had including my two children, I would order cupcakes, birthday cakes, first communion cakes, cookies, etc. I would give rave reviews, recommendations and pass out business cards to everyone I knew who needed baked goods! But not anymore :( Also the person who served me, a brunette lady (who may be the owner from what I remember?) didn't seem very happy to be there. Maybe the bakery business has lost its lustre? If a person is in the cupcake and cookie business shouldn't it be all about happiness!! I've been coming to Cupid's since 2012, and they've never disappointed. The squares are delicious, rich, with a great texture. The cupcakes, a staple of Cupid's, are just the right amount of sweet - and always taste super fresh and yummy. Over the years i've purchased cupcakes, cookies (especially the themed ones for different holidays), and even an adorable custom cake for my little sister. Terrible experience.. called ahead to order cupcakes.. the young person on the other end of the phone had me totally confused. My order was simple with only a change of color of sparkles. The next day we were hit with an extra $7.50 charge on top of the already exorbitant prices!! The owner I guess said she had to make a whole new batch of vanilla icing?? Are you kidding me? Love the cakes and cupcakes from here! They are fresh, soft cake, and frosting are delicious. I like that the cake is light and not so dense and heavy. They always have a selection of cupcakes and recently I ordered a cake the smallest one for $35 which I thought was fair. They told me that they had to bake it a day before, but it was still delicious when I ate it two days later. I got the traditional red velvet cake. If you go the bakery, there is not much seating just one table so it is mostly a place to pick up and go. It's one of my favorite cupcake shops in Oakville for taste and price point. read more

Bought a box of mini cupcakes a sample of each flavor on Saturday afternoon and was very surprised with rave reviews ... as i found the cupcakes to be very Common in terms of quality and stale. Same quality as one can get in a grocery store which is very disappointing. Overall overly sweet and heavy ... Ended up eating the cake and throwing the icing out. What a waste ... Boooo :( However on the upside the decor is really pretty as is the box they come in lol ... Hey gotta look on the upside right ?! Sorry one star from me .. Can't mess with cupcakes .. Period .. Wow. I used to think that the Black Forrest Bakery made the best cupcakes in Oakville. I wouldn't feed those to my enemies now that Cupid's is in town. These cupcakes are irresistible! They have many flavors to try out and you can get one of two sizes; your regular cupcake size, or a mini version. My favorite flavor is the "Bananas for Butterscotch". Delicious! What's cool is that they have a daily menu, so you should check twice before heading over to make sure your favorite is being baked on that particular day. My only complaint is that the supply for these cupcakes has a hard time keeping up with the demand. I have gone a couple times late in the afternoon only to discover that they are out of stock and have closed early. Mucho disappointing. Otherwise, a perfect snack! read more

These cupcakes are so yummy. Sometimes you'll try a cupcake from a different place and the frosting might be good, but the cake is not that great. That is not the case here. The cake part of the cupcake might actually be the best part (and that's not because the frosting is not good - it's delicious). The cake is moist and flavourful and each cupcake has a very unique and identifiable flavour profile. I preferred the vanilla based cupcakes over the chocolate based cupcakes, but that's just my personal preference. The store is absolutely cute and it smells unbearably good. They should try to capture that scent in a candle and sell it to the masses. read more

I have been patient with this place as I have been there a number of times but have now realized that the product is OK but the customer service is terrible. I went in once and the cupcakes being sold had been frozen. I asked for a fresh one and the girl (owner) was obnoxious about it. Today I was in and purchased 6 minis and a regular size cupcake. She (same girl owner?)put the minis in a box and then went to put the regular one in a bag. I asked for a box so it would not get squished she said it would be a dollar for the box. I protested and she curtly said that she is there to make money. I said at these prices you are making money and told her put it in a bag I will not be back. She did not seem to care. I must say I have been a regular since the store opened and being a mother of 3 kids, there is always a need or celebration for cupcakes. Cupids never fail on flavours, moistness and taste, and by far, the Red Velvet is my kid's favourite. I have even ordered 3 cakes, and again, was very pleased! However I have 2 complaints - 1) the store does not stay on top of special events such as First Communions, P.A. Days, Graduations, Long Weekends, and often times by mid day, they are already out of all kinds of cupcakes. It is definitely a turn off to walk into a bakery half way through the day, and be advised, "we are sold out." This has happened way too many times. Additionally, the prices are a bit steep, even for Oakville, and with these 2 combinations, you will eventually loose your loyal clientele to the competitors! read more

I've gotten treats from here a few times when I've been in the area. This bakery is super cute and smells delicious even from just outside their door. The princess (strawberry pink icing), raspberry chocolate, red velvet and the chocolate cupcakes to name a few are delicious! Their other treats such as their squares are also decadent! It was suggested to my fiance that we visit Cupid's to inquire about a wedding cake. Not being familiar with our options in Oakville we looked into it. I was totally underwhelmed and wouldn't recommend it for two reasons. First, the cupcakes we tried were no better than the cupcakes one would get at Whole Foods, and were more expensive. The second reason had nothing to with the products; I found the proprietor Niki B to be a combination of unctuous and conceited that set my teeth on edge, much more so than anyone I've met in a long time. Consuming all these different cupcake flavors reminds me of eating fluffy clouds of various colors. That is to say, these cupcakes would be perfect for a cloudy day, because you could just eat all the gloom away by devouring a sunny butterscotch banana cupcake. There is a Tim Horton's in the same plaza as Cupid's in Burlington so I tried a cupcake with my coffee for a change. It was chocolate with buttercream icing. I found it rather ordinary. I think they called it the "Prince" and it is a flagship flavour but I wasn't that impressed. The cake part was ordinary and the icing had a strange aftertaste that I didn't recognize. Maybe the Oakville location is better. The best cupcake place in Burlington is still Cupcake Kisses, they make to order fresh and are over on Guelph Line behind Blockbuster video. read more

I live less than a block away from Cupid's and visit often as my two girls love cupcakes. However, I have rearley had a pleasant experience with the staff. Typically they seem as though serving you is a bother. One day I actually witnessed the owner reprimanding the girl working the cash in front of myself and other customers. Shame on her! She always appears "above" helping customers herself and never makes customers feel welcome in her shop. It's a cupcake shop for goodness sake, it should be the happiest place on earth!! The cupckaes are okay. They cake is not great- I've had some that seem dry, and the icing is decent. I knew I wanted mini cupcakes for my wedding in lieu of a traditional wedding cake. I tried at least 10 different cupcake shops from Oakville to Niagara Falls. Cupid's Gourmet Cupcakes were by far the best cupcakes I tasted- none others even came close. I had many guests say things to me like, "I'm not a foodie or anything, but these are amazing cupcakes!" Many other cupcakes I tried dried out quickly. Cupid's Gourmet Cupcakes were nice and moist, even after a few days. Further, other vendors would only let me taste the regular sized cupcakes. This was a bit tough since I'd be ordering the minis. Cupid's has a wide range of cupcakes available and are very flexible with which cupcakes they offer (e.g., cupcakes made Friday and Saturday for a Saturday wedding, plus brides can request the flavour of the day). They were also very flexible about when I could come in for a meeting, modifying the colour of the icing (I wanted all white/off-white), payment, and did a beautiful job delivering and arranging the cupcakes. Staff were wonderful to work with. Priced a bit above average, but definitely worth it! Great value. read more

Okay so here's the deal..... If you own a boutique cupcake store, wouldn't you think that it should be a fun place with friendly staff who are pleasant? I mean they work with cupcakes all day for heaven's sake. When do people typically order cupcakes???? BIRTHDAYS!! So wouldn't you think it would be smart to acknowledge your customers and wish them the odd "Happy Birthday" or "Nice to See You Again" or if they were REALLY good, maybe a "THANK YOU FOR YOUR BUSINESS"??? Well if that is what you are looking for, you will NOT find it here. Their cupcakes are good but their customer service is lousy. We've been here on multiple occasions because their cupcakes really are good, but today we should have walked out. We left frustrated and feeling like the last thing that we should do is be turning over money to this place seeing that they appear to put no value or appreciation on their customers.
