Their menu has a lot of options but isn't too large, making ordering pretty easy. I had the avocado wrap and it was very tasty and filling! I also had the house brew coffee, which was nice and strong, not watered down at all. I am thoroughly impressed! I have been to both the Streeterville location and the Evanston location. I was at Evanston from 10am - 4pm on a busy Friday. From first glance, it can be quite overwhelming, but the floor manager (or whatever his proper title is) Dylan kept everything flowing seamlessly! From a quality perspective, Cupitol is at the top. I am a huge fan of this place! It's casual and has a little bit of a European feel. You pick your table and then order at the counter and they serve your food. They have some of the best house brew coffee and espresso drinks and house made pastries. The chair latte and light and flavorful and the croissants are airy, flaky and melt in your mouth. The avocado breakfast wrap and chicken noodle soup are also great. During brunch and lunch you can choose items from both menus which is just another bonus. I love coming here for lunch with family and also enjoy stopping by for a cup of coffee to sip on while I read in the upholstered chairs by the window. I personally love this place for many different reasons. For starters, it's in a great location in downtown Evanston. It's perfect if you want to grab a bite to eat and there's a ton of stores around there within walking distance. It has a very European feel to the place which I also love. There's an area where there's lounge chairs and couches where you can enjoy a coffee and then on the other side towards the back there are tables if you actually want to sit down and eat. You get the best of both worlds. The ambience is nice and always super packed on the weekends- especially Sunday. There's usually a ton of people with laptops doing work and make sure you bring your laptop fully charged because there's a limited amount of outlets around the place. I've had a few things off the menu and always really liked everything I got. I tried the guac and chips which was great, you can tell the guac was homemade and not just bought premade. I also tried the chicken BLT, (gluten free bread is an option) and that was super good too. Overall, great place, the service is pretty good for the most part and food is 9/10. read more

Cupitol is a great spot! Cappuccinos are really on point and their espresso is uniquely flavored and has become a coffee treat that I crave. Dillon, the host, is really good at what he does, especially when it's busy. You can count on being given proper attention and the food is good!! My suggestion would be to change up the food menu. This place will never get old to me it is my absolute favorite coffeehouse. I began coming here about a year or so ago because I was frequently coming back and forth to the Chicago area. I was amazed by the selection of pastries, fresh green juice and even food! The coffee is pretty awesome too lol. I've tried almost everything on the menu besides the things that have meat since I'm a vegetarian and nothing has disappointed me. From the drinks to the pastries you cannot go wrong so order away! The only reason I'm giving it four stars and not five is because of the prices. If you come here quite often like I do you'll spend a pretty penny at the end of the week. Cupitol has been my favorite coffee shop and brunch stop for 5+ years in Evanston. It's been a pleasant to sit in the lounge and read or eat at tables and enjoy friendly and efficient service in addition to tasty food. HOWEVER, visits in the last 3 weeks or so have been disappointing. The entire front of the house waiters and cashiers seem to have disappeared. The latest hires seem to be lacking a manager's guidance while having a great time enjoying each other with lots of levity, laughter and jokes. But when they are serving the customers, they don't really look at the customer or smile and offer a friendly greeting. I was second in line today to order but waited a full five minutes before the staff finished having a good laugh at some joke. I sat in the lounge as far away as I could from the cashier's station, but the staff was louder than I have ever heard in that restaurant. The music was so loud, the staff had to shout at each other to enjoy their fun together. Cupitol is no longer the unique, sophisticated coffee/eatery it once was. Such a shame read more

Really yummy!!! Definitely the best "brunch" food Evanston has to offer. However, their portions are quite small. The staff are very civil but borderline rude. There is lots of variety on the menu and your bites are high quality but many of the dishes seriously lack flavor (very bland). A drink from there coffee or smoothie menu is a must. Excellent pastries and small treats, but if you're looking for a bomb Sunday breakfast to cure that hangover, I would not recommend Cupitol as your first choice, you will leave hungry and underwhelmed. Prices were pretty reasonable considering the quality of food too. Ordered the European breakfast (yogurt, honey, granola, berries) and it was surprisingly good and surprisingly filling. The yogurt was more a Greek, thicker strain that you usually get in Europe, and you could tell that the granola was made in house, perfectly toasted, and the strawberries were surprisingly sweet too, tasted in season. Also got the CBH + eggs dish (corned beef hash) and it was surprisingly delicious, maybe a little too much hash brown but had great flavor. Coffee included a free refill and was fine. But I think the best things they had there were the sweets. A friend got the sticky buns and they looked amazing! Came with cream cheese icing and the sticky buns were fresh, perfectly caramelized, and came with a lot! Such a delight! Today was my first visit here since we wanted a meeting spot between Chicago and Skokie, and Cupitol fit the bill. However, my coffee was cold and I was told there was no microwave to heat it. I bought my friend a slice of tiramisu (who was celebrating her 70th birthday) but she would not eat it because the plastic utensils were not wrapped like most other restaurants. This cool little spot really fills a void in Evanston. It's open all day from early breakfast to evening cocktails with something for everyone. You order at the counter, find a seat, and someone brings you your food. Sometimes that part can be a little cumbersome but the decor is fresh an welcoming so you hardly notice. The food is good. I got the special breakfast. The pancakes weren't bad but the butter was cold and I had to ask for more syrup which is a drag having to wait when your panaceas are getting cold. The bacon was fatty and not cooked enough. My poached eggs I sent back because they were served in a dish with lots of excess water. When I got my scrambled eggs it looked like a Square hash brown and it didn't taste that great. I'd go back for a coffee but skip the food and Save some money. What I make at home is so much better and a lot less money. If I'm going to spend its gotta be really good or it's not worth it. read more

The Nutella chocolate tart was amazing: intense Nutella flavor in a soft chocolate crust that was almost cake-like but provided a god balance to the smooth creamy Nutella filling. Seating - we chose to sit outside and really enjoyed the Parisian cafe feel. We were also not forgotten unlike at some outdoor places. The wait staff checked on us 3 times to be sure the food had arrived and cleared away the plates quickly. This is a place where everyone is welcome, and I love that. I came for coffee and fell in love! The atmosphere is the perfect blend of noise and quiet. It's incredibly spacious. I saw kids, teens, college kids, and adults there enjoying life together. I had a latte and it was both beautiful and delicious. It's a bit on the pricey side, but it's certainly good quality. In fact, they border on rude as if they don't want to be bothered. I was really disappointed that hasn't changed when I last visited. I made it clear many time I want it to go. After 10 minutes, they brought the avocado wrap out on a plate, after realizing it was for to go, the food runner simply dump it into paper box, like its trash right in front of my face. At this point my latte, and cheese pie, no where to be found yet! I came to front cashier and asked, they said just couple minutes?! Really!? After getting rest of food, I sipped on my latte and guess what?! I paid for the caramel syrup and of course it wasn't in there! Cupitol has become my go-to place since moving to Evanston- whether I'm looking for a place to study or to eat a great (and pretty quick) meal. Since it's an "all-day lounge", you'll find some delicious menu options any time of day, with coffee,smoothies, and pastries always available. Favorite dish so far is definitely the falafel burger- but they have such a large range of options you can definitely find something no matter what you're looking for (they even serve alcohol). If you're coming here to study or work, keep in mind that you can only use your laptop in the lounge area on Friday-Sunday during peak hours. It can also get a bit loud, so if you're someone who likes to study/work in silence, may be best to go elsewhere. read more

The fam and I LOVE Cupitol! We've had dinner once and brunch twice. I highly recommend the chicken with roasted brussel sprouts for dinner. During dinner we also ordered desserts, which were outta this world fantastic. Chocolate hazelnut tart was perfection! For breakfast I've had the shroom omelette as well as the corned beef hash, and both were super flavorful! You can tell that the chef took great care in getting these dishes just right in flavor and presentation. The staff is super friendly, and very knowledgeable. The owner is very sweet and welcoming! Overall I would say this place makes an excellent addition to the Evanston food scene. Some co-workers and I made our way over during lunch on a Friday. Maybe it's because it's new, or maybe it's because it has already curated some regulars, but this place was busy and full of energy when we got there around 12:30. Their menu covers all of the basics for both breakfast and lunch, as well as having a completely separate dinner menu. Everyone at lunch was pleasantly surprised by how gourmet our sandwiches came out to be. I got the Chicken BLTA and the combo of the flavors and their bread was ideal. The bread is definitely worth the carbs. But the real highlight of the sandwich was the bacon. It made me want to come back for breakfast and soon, kudos to wherever they buy the bacon, or whatever they do to it. I give it a 4 out of 5 only because it seems like they are still trying to figure out how they should work. When it was busy they seemed a bit disheveled like they were scrambling to get orders. I imagine this will go away with time, as I anticipate this place being an Evanston lunch staple in the future.
