Love how they are representing the PI culture and their food truck is conveniently available next to Armistice Brewery, which has great ambiance. Perfect food pairing with beer! The owners are nice and it took about 10 min for them to whip up my signature Curbside burger, which has Tocino (Filipino bacon) and it was absolutely delicious and filling. The beef patty was hot and flavorful, the brioche bun was a nice bite, the pickled veggies gave a nice acid pop to tickle the tastebuds- everything was hot and fresh and the portion was just enough. Been wanting to try Curbside Kitchen for a while, especially since there's little to no places in Richmond to get Filipino food (plus, I heard from some Cal alums that the owners also attended UC Berkeley - GO BEARS!) Popped up one weekday in the late afternoon with my sister and we ordered the following: - Curbside Burger: definitely had foundational Filipino flavors (garlic and soy sauce) but with a lighter touch. I was really feeling the tocino and atchara on the burger. It definitely gave me a little shock since it tasted more on the "healthier" side of what Filipino foods could be if we didn't douse everything in so much salt and soy sauce (4/5). - Filipino Banh Mi: my sister ordered this and enjoyed the cheese and pork. She also thought her sandwich was more on the "healthy" side (3.5/5). - Lumpia: honestly, it was simple - not impressive but also not bad (3/5). Location is conveniently by the marina and next to a brewery. The truck is along an open road, and you can find plenty of parking in the little business park it's located in. Staff were chill, and food came out without a problem. I had a very positive experience at curbside kitchen. It was easy to order, the menu is legible Easy to follow. 2 items 1. Curb - Banh Mi (Adobo pulled pork) The pull pork was on the dryer side slightly salty. You can see where the Banh Mi inspiration come in to play (Vietnamese sandwich originally serve on baguette) pickled vegetables and garnished with cucumber. Having lived in the South Bay for a couple of years, I've had my fair share of Bahn Mi sandwiches. I decided to hit this food truck up during the last day of San Pablo restaurant week because they claimed innovation on the original Bahn mi sandwich. This food truck delivered on its promise! Each item on the menu is Bahn mi inspired. I had the pulled pork Bahn mi sandwich with a large order of fries and a can of coke. The sandwich had a good large serving of pulled pork (see photos) with a nice pickled carrots, onions, and pickles. It had a little too much Mayo for my taste (see pic), but it was still delicious! The pork was juicy and had a great flavor with the pickled slaw. I will come back and try the other options on their small but mighty menu. The truck itself is located near the Armistice Brewing Company, so you can grab a beer while you wait for your food ( I waited about 8 min). Due to COVID the parking lot was empty, so it was easy to park right but the truck. Post COVID there might be some parking concerns as the lot is pretty small. read more

We saw the 4.5 stars on Yelp and was excited to try this place out. This was a really disappointing experience. Every single dish was super salty and it was impossible to finish any of it. Sidewalk fries - this would have been a great dish as it included tocino pork, melted cheese, and green onions so the flavor was there, but it tasted like they dumped a pound of salt on top of it and mixed it in which ruined the entire dish. Curbside chicken sandwich - this sandwich was terrible. The breading had the taste of tripe if tripe could fall apart because that's what it did. The chicken itself tasted like it had been cooked in soup for 8 hours beforehand as there was no flavor in the chicken. Curbside burger - the burger had a lot of the same ingredients as the sidewalk fries dish with a meat patty added to it. This would have been a decent burger, but once again, it was way too salty. Mushroom melt - there were more carrots and veggies than there were mushrooms. This once again was super salty. Same theme... I expected more because of all the good reviews. I would skip the lumpia next time (can definitely get a better deal elsewhere), but definitely go for the mains. The chicken burger was tender and the portion of chicken was generous. Damn this place was tasty! After sitting down at Armistice, we were starved and lucky this truck was right there in front of us. I was surprised with all the great Filipino-inspired food they had. Curbside Kitchen has been serving up some of the most delicious Filipino fusion food this side of the bay since 2015 and the owning Lozano Brothers, Russell and Raynard, should be proud! Being a food truck means that you can catch Curbside anywhere as far north as American Canyon for certain event days, to as down south Emeryville on others. In general though, you can depend on Curbside staying local to the Richmond area, especially at East Brother Beer in Point Richmond. Now onto the food! CK burger- Don't get sticker shocked...the well flavored ground beef makes for an amazing patty! Generous and juicy, this burger showcases its Filipino flair in the form of tocino instead of bacon, and an daikon?/papaya?/carrot slaw- a delicious combo that is money well spent! CK chicken- H'okay. The try-hard award definitely goes to the Chef for this one...making a SOLID fried chicken battered with -get this- CASSAVA (as in the root/tuber). Significance of this? This is as gluten-free as you're gonna get to a fried chicken to be, and still have that wonderfully crunchy coating that sticks to chicken breast. This truck shows up frequently at events in Hercules, Rodeo, Richmond, and Pinole, there is always a line to order. I am happy when they show up near me. The lumpia comes out of the fryer hot and crispy it is delicious. This is a 5-star treat for me. I've also have ordered the shitake burger it was good but a bit too salty. I really want to try some of the other menu items, but I just can't get enough of the lumpia with the sweet chill sauce. [Covid Review] I've gone to this food truck twice now when it was parked outside of Armistice Brewery. You need to wear a mask to order. When ordering at the brewery, you also receive a voucher to use at Curbside. Everything on the menu looked so delicious that I had a difficult time choosing, so I decided to asked for a recommendation. They told me that their most popular was the Curbside Burger, with the tocino (which is a thick cut Filipino bacon), marinated in soy sauce and garlic, cheese, arugula, carrots, and aioli. It was so good! It didn't take me long to finish the burger because it was so mouth watering. I also tried some of the lumpia, and the sidewalk fries. The sidewalk fries were very similar to the burger as far as the toppings on them-- but I can't decide what I love more! This place is a genuine mystery waiting to be solved: you're always trying to figure out where the flavor has gone and how it costs so much to be disappointed. Poor quality food and ridiculously overpriced considering the cheap ingredients they use and the very small serving sizes. I made the mistake of giving Curbside another try today and regretted it instantly. I've tried the burgers, all tiny, bland and lacking the flavors their menu promises. Nothing about the burgers suggests any justification for the $12 price tag. The tocino (according to my Philippino friends) is not real tocino, and a bad excuse for it, so don't bother with the $9 Sidewalk fries. The serving size and quality are not worth even half that cost. Today I tried the chicken sandwich, which I remembered as the least objectionable choices on the menu. Not today. If you want a good fried chicken sandwich, go to Bakesale Betty in Oakland, you'll spend less for a way bigger and way better sandwich. Eating the chicken closely resembled what I'd imagine chewing old rubber to be like, and it had no taste to boot. It was so chewy and hard I couldn't bite through it, tearing at it like a wild animal to get the first bite off, before the whole piece of chicken slid completely out of the breading, like that magic trick of pulling the tablecloth off the table while everything else stays in place. The buns disintegrate with even minimal sauces and toppings; the sandwich completely falls apart in a soggy mess the moment you pick it up as the bun just shreds to pieces simply by holding it. You will have the same problem with the burgers too. Oh and "Mom's Lumpia" is just frozen crap from Costco, and no bigger (in length and thickness) than your finger. Let's just say I will never bother with this place ever again. Total waste of money. read more
