First time in my life that somebody not only knows what they are doing with my hair but makes me proud of having curly hair!

    After Jessica

Readers digest version: Curl Sanctuary is the perfect name for this place, because it truly is a refuge in which to reach curlcendece. Full story: I have shoulder length, fine, curly hair, that had suffered through the brunt of postpartum hair loss and a lot of regrowth fuzz along the hairline too. So it was stringy and dry at the ends, and frizzy at the top, and just generally unruly. Not chemically damaged but still kinda dry. After a bad experience elsewhere, I booked an appointment here. They were booked solid for a month, but I actually took that as a good sign (bad stylists don't have full books...) and took the first available. I left a note saying I was a bit anxious after issues elsewhere, but my hair was a mess and I desperately needed help. A few days after I booked Jessica called me to talk a little about what my concerns were and just really was just so sweet and put me at ease. Then, she asked me if I wanted to take an a appointment she had open up the next day. Score! Jessica cut my hair dry, which while new to me, makes total sense for curly hair. Now it makes sense why I've had so many uneven haircuts in my life. I love it, even before product, it looked amazing; healthy bouncy messy chic instead of the frazzled hag witch I walked in as. Then I was handed over to Anna for a cleanse and an education. So, usually when you get washed you lay back, enjoy the scalp massage and nice smelling products and then that's it. Not here! While yes, Anna gives a wonderful scalp massage with the cleanse and I thoroughly enjoyed it, that's not the best part. The best part is how she explains everything really well, so you can get the same results at home. I also enjoyed the squishy noises my properly wet hair made and fun names for techniques like noodling. It was fun. Not in a childish way, but in a way that amuses the inner child. After I got cleansed, conditioned, and gelled, i went under the dryer hood for a bit. This simulates air drying, just doesn't take five hours. After that Anna decrunchifed me and I went back to Jessica to trim up any curls that didn't shrink up evenly and double check everything and whoa. I have bouncy, defined, shiny, healthy looking curls. I could t be happier! I didn't even lose as much length as I expected to and that's a real big deal for someone who's been growing out their curls for three years. Their new client curl cut includes some products (awesome!), but I was so thrilled with the results I went straight for the liter sized bottles, and also booked my return appointment.

I love my curl but it's time to shorten it with a little "Jessica Magic."

Where was Jessica for the first 25 years of me coping with curly hair? I hated my hair. I could never count on what it was going to do from one day to the next. It never looked good. Hairstylists "thought" they knew what do with curly hair but they didn't have a clue. Then one day a fried of mine (with curly hair) told me I needed to try out her stylist. THAT WAS 8 YEARS AGO. The first time Jessica cut my hair, I was in shock. It had never looked like that. I had soft curls, cascading along the sides of my face. I proclaimed her to be a miracle worker. She said she could never do it without the hair product she uses - which does make a HUGE difference. Moral of the story, if you have fought your curly hair all of your life, if you've straightened it or you blow dry it or whatever daily torture you put yourself through, STOP NOW. Make an appointment with Jessica. You will learn to love your hair. A week never goes by where someone doesn't come up to me and says they love the curl in my hair. Guess what? I love it too.

A simple courtesy acknowledgement that I am there waiting or a text that he's behind would be client friendly but he has never ever done that. I've waited up to one hour frequently with no apology. It's unreal. Maybe that's why he sold the business- either the games made him enough money to retire or the games hit his business hard enough he had to. FYI-the new owners price list is 1/2 of Salon Prive's!

The guy used too much mousse, it wasn't what I wanted, and it was over $100!!! I've been growing my hair out but by bit for the last three years and thought nervously that it was time for a chop. I had pictures ready and everything, but when I saw her, I just gave her an idea. Medium length, highlights my eyes and waves, with volume and minimal styling. GUYS. It was only $60 and considering the look of the place I thought it was gonna be so much higher. She washed my hair, cut it with absolute precision for a whole hour, made wonderful conversation, stayed past closing time to style and blow dry it, and she DESERVED that tip I gave her. Wow. Rather than fix it in the salon, she told me to wet and scrunch them at home. They did not improve. When I had dinner with my grandpa the next day and he saw how awful my extensions looked said my hair looked like a "mop." Everyone who saw my hair was appalled at how awful they looked. After sending photos, neither the stylist nor the owner could acknowledge the obvious problem. The owner admitted the curl pattern wasn't an exact match but offered only a perm + reinstall, no refund. I was never shown the extensions before they were ordered, and Michelle the stylist told me that she had the "perfect extensions" to match my curl pattern. On top of the wrong curl pattern, the extensions were installed too heavily for my fine hair, leaving my scalp red, irritated, and scratched by sharp adhesive edges of the k tips . Given the damage, I declined further work and still received no refund for either the hair or the installation. No one at Kink Hair salon took accountability. If you have 4A curls or tighter, please save yourself some money and go to a curly extension specialist. I ended up buying 4A clip in curly extensions myself and they look like a perfect match, proving there's no excuse for licensed cosmetologists to not be able to find the proper curl patterned hair for my extensions.

I went in to get a haircut from Ruby I think was her name. It was a short style (shortest I've ever had it) with some light layers. Basically what ended up happening was one side turned out okay but the other side looks like she was attempting to give be bangs (which I did not want) then took the length I wanted divided it into two and chopped off a HUGE chunk of my hair. No layering, just a hard cut. Now, I'm pretty optimistic about hair being fixable, but this is not fixable. The bottom layer is so thin and the top is about 3x as thick. I have two options to "fix" it, a) a bowl cut, or b) get a pixie cut - neither of which I want. So instead, I'm googling ways to make my hair grow faster and avoiding mirrors so I don't cry when I look at my hair. (Yes it is that bad).

Now the long story: So I'm that person that has no idea what kind of haircut I want or how to even begin trying to describe how I want my hair cut. I went in today as we do when our hair gets too long, and had the pleasure of Tashia cutting my hair. She listened to what I wanted and told me some recommendations to make what I wanted look good on me (which was greatly appreciated because oh boy I had no idea). One of the little things I loved was when I asked her to take a little off the top -get this- she only took a little bit off instead of the general 2-3 inches I've had happen at multiple other places. She is fantastic with cutting, styling, and being knowledgable about dyed hair, different styles, and little conversations to avoid awkward silences. I am/have already told my friends that's where they need to go for now on if they want to get a great haircut for a great price.
