Another small town treasure that has been serving up some of the best food around. I have NEVER had dry chicken there and I have been eating there monthly if not weekly since I was a little kid. I hated coleslaw, but Curly's made me learn to love it and for decades my holiday meals are not served without it. I have stood in line behind people who were getting the coleslaw sauce on their way to the airport...they weren't going home without it. From cold chicken sandwiches to hot chicken bbq to the chicken dinners...reasonable, delicious and sorry Michael P., I've lived all over the East Coast and Curly's is a icon here at home! read more

This the spot for some good soul food. Place is a little outdated on the inside, but it's fitting and not a big deal. Me and the homies love to pop out here from time to time for some good chicken and potatoes. Cole slaw goes hard as well read more

The "lumpy Mashed", mashed potatos with chunks of white chicken meat smothered in chicken gravy, is a must ! Loved it.

Where to start, first I have been here before but this last time was not good. There were flies everywhere, it was hotter than heck, the service was nonexistent, to the point where we sat with empty drinks, cleared plates and waited...and waited with our flies for our check. We've been going to Curly's for over 30 years and in the past it was decent. We usually stop there a couple of times a year. The last three times it has been a continuous downhill experience. Our last visit is truly our last visit. After finding a booth, we had to ask three times, "Is someone going to wait on us?" Then a person who appeared to be a manager came by and we asked, "is there a waitress working?" She finally came, took our order, brought "everything at once." Soup and meal. The lunch was not hot, the gravy on the chicken hardly was enough to make the "hard" biscuits every close to soft. The soup was OK but it was more like mush with almost no liquid. When my wife asked for water, the waitress gave her a disgusting look. This has become our last time at Curly's. Anyone reading this - it isn't worth the trip, even if it is just around the corner for you. read more

What in the world happened to a great restaurant. Used to be THE place to go. They had excellent chicken and cole slaw with a sauce that was to die for, homemade salads, great desserts. Last weekend, we purchased 1/2 chicken dinners to go (total cost nearly $30). Dry, flavorless chicken, instant mashed potatoes with packaged gravy, packaged cole slaw. Since we had already paid, we waited for our dinners, but looking into the kitchen nearly made me throw up. These people have taken a wonderful restaurant and totally run it into the ground! Rude service people, dirty, dirty, dirty kitchen, dining areas and bathrooms. They need to be shut down before someone dies from eating their food. Shame on them! read more

It all started when my Nana would go here after church on Sundays for breakfast. We always thought she was a little crazy for going to a chicken house for breakfast. That was until one day she says where do you think a egg comes from silly. Those words have changed my breakfast life forever, I was about 10 at the time. I started come to Curly's back when I was young 10-11 years old. Since then I have never had any problems with this place. Even when the church groups come in and over take the restaurant my food has always come out in a timely manner. It is also always hot and tastes fresh. I typically only come for breakfast although I have gone for lunch a few times and dinner only once or twice. Everything I have gotten has been good. Now its more like your grandmothers cooking then something from say cracker barrel, dennys, friendlys or other chain restaurants. It's a great place in Elmira for any type of meal as almost anyone can find something they like on their menu. read more
