I was always a big fan of Curran's "aka" Pudgy's wings when I was working in NE Philly a couple decades ago. I had never been to the location in Bensalem before, so a Friday evening wing craving led me in for a visit to see if they were anything close to what I remembered. They have a decent sized parking lot behind the building and entrance doors are found in front or at the back. The inside is your typical sports bar. Lots of TV's plastered on every wall, a long bar, high tops tables, family style tables in the back and regular seating near the back of the building. They have a small patio out back and the front windows open up on a nice spring/summer day. The men's room was bright, clean and well kept. I liked the Vincent Vega/Pulp Fiction and Harry Dunne/Dumb and Dumber toilet themed portraits they had hanging on the walls The food menu is simple and has typical pub grub with some entrees. There are two items on the kids menu (chicken tenders or grilled cheese). The beer menu is simple and limited to macro brews plus a couple big beer micro brews. The service was pretty slow, but the servers were nice. The lady server on my second visit was very personable and thorough, but overwhelmed .... younger guy server on my first trip was helpful with the menu, but more of a get you in and out type. Adding another server would be a big help since they seem to have a lot of to go orders that were completely handled by the two servers working the floor. Just my humble opinion. I ordered the spicy crab soup and hot wings on my first visit. The spicy crab soup wasn't bad at all. It had a good quantity of shredded crab, veggies, a spicy bite and a balanced flavorful broth. The hot wings (on the menu as best in Bucks) were fresh, averaged sized and had a typical hot sauce on it. I was hoping for larger portion sizes, but I've certainly seem way worse. They were OK. On both visits my son had the grilled cheese with fries and gave it a thumbs up. On my second visit I had the Baby Back Ribs that came with two sides for $20. Normally I wouldn't order entrees from a bar, but I noticed the description had "Smothered in our famous award winning bbq sauce" so I had to see what that was all about. Unfortunately the ribs were a miss. The meat itself was overcooked on the ends, they badly needed a rub to penetrate the meat because it lacked flavor and the sauce although decent (I detected Dr. Pepper in the ingredient list) didn't do enough to bring the meat together. The green beans were seasoned and pretty good. The mashed potatoes were also good just a bit over salted. I wouldn't go out of my way to hit up Curran's, but it certainly had an OK neighborhood bar type of scene. Friends, families, folks celebrating a birthday, people out watching the Phillies game and locals at the bar engaged in locker-room talk with the bartender. There was also a band or DJ setting up while we were leaving. Nothing bad, but nothing extraordinary. Thanks guys!

    Buffalo fingers

Ordered buffalo fingers. Along with a bunch of other stuff. These are completely burnt. Horrible taste. I wanted to Make sure that these weren't the blackened ones and they just messed up and gave them to me by mistake. I spent way too much money at this place to get food like this.

Curran's is what you would expect a pub to be. Cheap drinks, local banter, and a good place to watch sports. The brightest spot at Currans is the Cajun wings. Amazing to say the least. This place also has a touch tuned music player. Felt like they lowered the music volume when urban music was played.

Different Cheesesteak #920. Special Guest Eater Adam Bucci. I don't think I will offend anyone if I say I don't think many people go to Curran's for the cheesesteak. Great spot, decent lunch crowd. The bartender and guy next to us were friendly. The cheesesteak had a good roll and came with french fries. It was wet and had a heavy pepper seasoning. The beer was cold and flowing.

I haven't been to this site since it was Dublin Square which was a long time ago. Some of the layout changed. They no longer have the old bar separated from the dining area. Callie was our server and did a great job. I was there with some friends from SC. We started by ordering the large pretzel which comes out on a pretzel hanger along with some beer cheese for dipping. They also use that hanger for bacon. The pretzel was enough for 4 of us. I ordered the wings and selected Nashville Hot and Hog Sauce as my flavors. They claim they sell by the pound ($15.50) but it ends up being 8 wings. If you want to split flavors, they make it dry and bring the sauce on the side for dipping. Luckily the Nashville Hot is a dry rub. It was very good and not too spicy. The Hog Sauce is a combo of Buffalo and Garlic which was excellent. The wings themselves were plump, juicy and crispy. Five stars. Plenty of parking. Some tables available outside for outdoor seating when it ever gets nice in NJ. Bathrooms were very clean. You may find some little pink pigs around. Not sure if they're complimentary, but my wife took the one that was next to our table. My only complaint is they have too many of their draft beers designated for only 10 oz pours even with low ABV. I had a Kane Head High which was in a 16 oz glass. They also use OpenTable for reservations which I used as well.

I ordered a taste of set of four different IPAs, and was able to pick out my winner (Kane high head). I ordered the house flying pig pizza, basically a meat lovers pizza, and was not disappointed. It was a decent amount of meat, and just the right size for an old-time like me. The service was great, attentive, but not overbearing. Kim the manager, reflected this great balance of being friendly, checking in, but leaving the patrons be. Bathrooms were very clean, and who can argue about a TV above a urinal?

Everything was chopped evenly and broiled to perfection. I did get a decent amount of clam. The description says bacon but I'm glad it wasn't big pieces of crispy bacon. It almost seemed like pancetta. I wish I took a picture. They are a little greasy so I'm not sure why they serve them with a side of butter. I think that's a waste. I ordered the Reuben for my entree and upgraded from chips to potato salad. This was an amazing choice. One of the best Reubens I've had in awhile. I was nervous at first seeing the thick bread but it all came together. It wasn't greasy at all. The corned beef was crispy which made it easier to bite. Who hates trying to bite through tough corned beef???? The amount of sauerkraut was perfect. One half of my sandwich had the perfect amount of dressing. The other half was dry. I usually ask for a side of dressing but didn't this time. I am so glad I upgraded to potato salad. It's only $1 extra and I highly recommend. This reminded me of my family recipe. This sandwich comes with chips and I'm not sure what that means. I'm not a huge potato chip person.
