It's definitely on the pricey side--we paid around $32 for two bowls plus a drink and chips. We ordered the Classic bowl and the Harissa bowl. Both were very fresh, flavorful, and filling. The Harissa had a nice kick--mine was a little spicy but still really enjoyable. The chips were warm and surprisingly good as well. Overall, the food quality was great, and I'd come back again. If you're looking for a quick place to grab a healthy meal, would recommend you give Currito a shot. First of all, the portions for the bowls are HUGE. They also have premade bowls, smoothies, and shakes. Secondly, the variety they have here is crazy (check out the photo of their ingredient bar). I have yet to find the perfect combo for my create-your-own-bowl, mostly because I'm too excited by all the possibilities and flavors!! Like for example, they have like 10 different sauces. There may or may not be staff who may notice when you walk in. I have had the unpleasant experience of witnessing a verbal confrontation among staff at one visit. Today when I ordered a Harvest Grain Bowl the arugula was yellow and slimy, not fresh in anyone's book. I ended up picking it all out because it looked too sketchy to eat. I had to look hard for the sweet Potato and the portion was sad, and most of it was drowned in way too much salad dressing. Food was ready in under 15 minutes - great service! I got the classic bowl with chicken and after the first bite I also had comparisons to a Chipotle bowl (although I haven't had one in awhile). The classic was good and just the right amount of food. I would get it again but would probably want to try some of their other items as they have plenty of options that look good. Wife got the Bangkok and I had a bite of hers. Also really good and would consider getting that in the future as well. $10 for each of the bowls - $8 for the bowl and $2 for the chicken. First time here since my daughter suggested it. A little far from us but want to try. It seems like same concept as Chipotle. You can choose bowl or wrap. They have salad choices as well and healthy smoothies. I got the Bangkok bowl with steak. It has rice, peanut sauce, and aome veggies. I wasn't impressed at first since the veggies and the setup seems dry. Once i mixed it and first taste. It is amazingly delicious. Perfect combination on what they put in the sauce and the veggies are crunchy. My daughter had the buffalo wrap and it was good too since i had a bite of it. The smoothies taste delicious as well. There is public parking at the back of the building so that's a plus. The staff are really nice too. BURRITOS WITHOUT BORDERS This trendy spot in Elmhurst showcases lots of flavors from all over the world. I attended Currito's grand opening way back in October 2017, plus a handful of visits sprinkled in since then. This location is right on York Road just south of North Ave, nearby a Panera and across from Angelo's Ristorante. You can build your own creation or stick with one of their international ideas, like the Mediterranean or Bangkok. Options include a regular burrito, small burrito, rice bowl (no tortilla), or salad. All things considered, prices are pretty steep. The small chicken tikka ($7.50) came with lime rice, curried chickpeas, tikka masala sauce, and cucumber tahini in a flour tortilla. Very tasty, flavors mingled together nicely. Kind of expensive given that it was a 'small'. A few weeks later, I tried the buffalo chicken burrito ($7.50) that had lettuce, shredded carrots and blue cheese dressing. Aside from being super basic, it tasted just okay, not something I'd get again. Again, it was fairly small for the price. I added chips & salsa + a drink for an extra $3.29. Be aware that their "hot" salsa is ¡MUY PICANTE! and something not to be trifled with. I'd advise on the medium, as their hot is made with very spicy habaneros and borders on inedible. They advertise smoothies & shakes, though in reality only 2 flavors of shakes are offered -- and both of them involve Nutella (blecch!) C'mon guys, even Five Guys has like half a dozen varieties. Gotta diversify that shizz! * TL;DR * I like what they're doing with globally inspired creations, but I'm not convinced that paying almost $8 for a small wrap is really worth it. The quality is several steps up from other chain-based burrito places, and the cost definitely reflects that. The bowls are a great option for those who don't mind paying a bit more. Fast casual has become a staple of lunchtime in America. Chains like Chipotle are really raking in business. If you are looking for something in the same category, but more local, I'd recommend Currito. It's one of my favorite places for picking up a quick lunch in Elmhurst. I really appreciate the variety that Currito offers when it comes to "Build Your Own" options. I typically get a salad (though I have done a rice bowl in the past--I'd say the salad is not only healthier but better). You can add a lot of toppings you don't find elsewhere like, my personal favorite, curried chickpeas. The house dressing is zesty and really great! If you are looking for a place with fresh ingredients and a nice chicken salad (among other options), this is the restaurant for you. Take a break from Panera and get over here. It's overall a quality experience, but they seem to have a lot of staff turnover, even for the category. Consequently, there seems to be a lot of re-training going on. That said, the service is good. Currently sitting in the parking lot, and felt the need to write how dissatisfied I was the the customer service we just received. We walked in at 8:11 and met with faces of disgust as they were annoyed we walked in so "close" to closing time. They wouldn't make eye contact with us and when we ordered, half the toppings were already starting to be wrapped up. They didn't have any spoons to serve the toppings and used plastic cups to put them in our bowl. I asked if they were closed as we felt rushed, and the worker replied with "shortly" (in 49 minutes). It's kind of like chipotle but they have more options like a Mediterranean bowl, salads, quinoa etc. It was weird to me that you pay before you make your bowl. Overall it's nice that they have a lot of options but I wasn't that impressed with what I ordered. I was also overwhelmed by the amount of options. I keep returning to Currito, but it is definitely not for the service. Every time I'm in there, there seems to be someone who has no clue what their doing. I have been there 6 times and the first few times I had to remind myself it was a new business and they were probably just starting to get a good grasp on everything. Regardless of the service, I return for the food, obviously. The flavors are amazing. I've only tried one thing there: The Tikka bowl/burrito. I've tried it both with chicken and steak. I keep ordering the chicken bowl because it's my favorite and I love the way they set it up. It looks delicious, tastes delicious, and ever since this place opened, I almost always have a constant craving. Since they have other options (which I may or may not try) it adds a slight variety to the quick, yet kind of healthy, but not breaking the bank options (I.e. Chipotle, etc.). I really love Chipotle so having a similar set up, but different variety drew me here. Like I said I will be returning because I love the food. Also, they have iced green tea, and it is some of the best I've ever tried. Perfect mix of sweetness and I add a lemon wedge to dazzle it up. I don't really care for the employees, they are subpar when it comes to greeting customers and interaction. They all seem like high school or college age kids, so they have some learning to do and I hope they get it sooner rather than later. For me, the large is enough to cut in half to make 2 meals. Meh: -There's something not quite right about the flow of things here. You walk in, see the menu board and pay. But then you can walk through the "make your own" burrito line... However you need to know things up front like if you want guacamole or not. Hard to make that choice without seeing it! It might make more sense to pay after you create your burrito?! -Stay away from the tasteless tofu as a vegetarian option. Go for the curried chickpeas instead! I ordered the superfood salad since I am a vegetarian, and it was honestly one of the best, and freshest salads that I have ever eaten. The salad blend was a mix of, I believe, lacinato kale, & arugula, topped with carrots, quinoa, chickpeas, edamame, and a few other ingredients that complemented one another so well.
