    Currito
    Chris E.

When we came here to grab lunch prior to our departing flight out of PHL, I'll be honest and say that I had never, everrrr heard of Currito, even though it was a fairly widespread chain in the eastern part of the U.S. To summarize, it seemed like a restaurant cut out of the Chipotle cloth, but with a mix of globally-inspired ingredients. My wife and I ended up ordering 2 Build Your Own Bowls. I ordered mine with half cilantro rice, half couscous with chicken, curry, chickpeas, mango, cheese, pico de gallo and hummus. The bowl was pretty good - different because of the ingredients I chose, but solid. I can't say that the ingredients tasted super fresh, but it wasn't bad. I will say that the workers at this location weren't exactly the friendliest or most enthusiastic, but it's the airport at the end of the day.

Very good for airport food. I did a build your own salad with a bunch of veggies, chicken, and spicy harissa for the sauce; which was incredible. Good amount of chicken and everything tasted very fresh. Spicy harissa was definitely the best part of the salad I will say

$18 build your own in the airport, you can not beat it!!

Honestly, when you're at the airport, you never know what you're going get. But here I can make a bowl full of protein and vegetables and tasty hot sauce for $18 and be full for my entire cross country flight..it's clean, consistent, and tasty. What else could you want at the airport? Also, every time I come through, I notice how conscientious the staff is and always cleaning. Major points.

Receipt showing hidden fee after the transaction. Unacceptable practice.

I was torn with deciding # of stars. The employees and food are 5 stars. The cashier carefully registered my order and the server asked about dressing and rice noodles. They were pleasant too which is not a given at an airport fast food joint. The smoothie was made fresh and promptly. Food is respectable for airport food. I wish all airport food met this standard. However management receives 0 stars for false advertising and hidden fees. I despise hidden fees. I value transparency. Management advertises food prices on a display board which is responsible but then there is a hidden 3% charge that only appears after the transaction is processed. After getting raked for the 3% fee I looked on the display board and did not see disclosure about the fee. (If it's there it's not easy to see). The practice of slipping in hidden fees is despicable. There is no place for this type of deception. (I do not want to hear any responses about how the employees deserve benefits. I do not disagree but then management should increase advertised prices by 3%, not secretly add 3%). I will not be returning to this operation and I travel through PHL more than infrequently .

I'm not gonna lie, my expectations were quite low, but the food was great. I got the Harvest bowl (with rice instead of farro because I'm gluten-free), and it was delicious. All the ingredients were fresh and flavourful. I would go there again next time I'm at the airport and highly recommend it for a quick healthy meal.

Jamba had a big line and I was attracted to Currito by the smoothies and green signs. The folks who worked on the food line were great, the cashier however was grumpy. Sadly the food was a disaster. I got the Supergreen smoothie which was mostly ice and undrinkable through a straw. I opened it up and tried eating it instead of drinking it. I really tried because I was hungry and it was too big of an ordeal and I ended up junking it with 80% of it left. With that frustration, I blanked and left the salad that I ordered behind. That's not on them but still...an annoying visit. I was down $30 and still hungry.

Following my coworker recommendation I stopped at this Mexican restaurant to grab some food to go. I ordered the chicken quesadilla and chips and salsa. I was pleased with my order, all the ingredients looked and tasted fresh. The chicken was delicious and the salsa had a lot of flavor. The chips were very fresh and I even got some cream and sauce on the side. Kuddos to the staff that was friendly, professional and very kind.

Oh my goodness- Nirvana yum in a bowl. -think Chipotle like bowl meal meets Indian flavors and creativity- and in an efficient and convenient fast casual venue. As a true "frequent flyer"- I wish every airport had a Currito. It's a rare treat to find a place with truly healthy (veggie and nutrition dense) options that are high in flavor and options. Don't worry if you don't like "curry"- though there's curry in the name, there are many options that are curry-free. If you've never tried Indian fare, this is the best way to have a taste- customized and "safe" for even the pickiest of eaters. The service was fast, and the owner was looking on to ensure high quality and satisfaction.

This was a chicken peanut sauce salad.

My first time coming across this area only because my flight was near by. This place is in the PHL airport in terminal A. A little overpriced but it's really fresh ingredients. It's located next to a pizza place and has a ton of seating area. Pretty quiet area close to restrooms. They have a preset menu or you can build your own. The service is quick, it is fast food.

    pre-flight food! Yay! (5/13/21)

We had really good steak and chicken bowls before boarding our plane. Ingredients weren't skimped on, and we weren't price-gouged like I thought an airport place would do to trapped customers. Our server was super nice and was even happy to give us fountain waters.

We ordered: - tuna tartare toast: fan fave for a reason, the mayo is so good on this! - oysters: self explanatory, the ginger condiment isn't my favorite thing I've had on an oyster but it was tasty. - grilled halloumi with blueberry Agua chile: I absolutely loved this, I'm a sucker for halloumi and the sweetness from the blueberry balanced it out so well. This was a special for the evening. - zucchini: this was the veggie dish I was least interested in on the menu but our waitress described it so well that we decided to try it. The ricotta on top was so creamy and the zucchini is charred from the wood fire grill - whole fish of the night: whole dorade stuffed with lump crab.... Insanely good, not too fishy at all and perfectly charred. Even better with some of their homemade hot sauce which we ended up purchasing a bottle of ($8), the fish was $82 - blueberry pie: only on the menu for a limited time once per year, it was the perfect dessert We each got one cocktail and I had one glass of wine. Our bill was $325 with tip which we felt was slightly more than we thought we would spend but we also could've done without one dish as we were stuffed and had leftover fish. Not dying to return but would recommend it for a nice date night!

Highlights were the beef tartare (best I've ever had, super tender and a flavorful but fresh at the same time) and the grilled prawns (grilled to perfection with fragrant aroma, paired perfectly with the coconut sauce). I'm more biased towards the on toast and small plates in terms of quality. Recommend getting ~6 dishes for 2 people. Ask for the specials of the day. Service was also top notch!

The service, food, and drinks were all good, but happy hour felt pricey for the portion sizes. We shared oysters, French fries, shrimp cocktail, and tuna crudo, along with a few glasses of wine. Lovely Leti and I were hungrier than jackals after American Airlines dared to nourish our 5.5hr flight from LA to PHL w/ a mere Biscotti wafer paired w/ a 4oz pour of soda- We also had nearly four hours to extinguish til we boarded our connecting flight to Portugal...so we took the bait- "Prime US, Independence Prime" we challenged. Our server was a delightful young Ethiopian lady w/ a dazzling smile and great presence of mind despite her singlehandedly serving the bulk of the restaurant herself. Her relaxed manner amd quick smile paired with good enough service to satisfy us. "But what about the food?!" you holler. The starter, Brussel Sprouts Wok'd with bacon, diced pear and candied walnuts, was a flat non-starter for us. For one, the appetizer was brought out several minutes after our entrees were, a culinary faux pax I thought the Chinese restaurants had monopolized. Second, at $15 the dish was a little overpriced, most notably when you factor in the lack of coherence in the dish. The brussel sprouts were day old, previously fried then reheated. The bacon was a bit underdone and pieces of pear weren't completely cleaved from other pieces. Leti's Chicken Sando was highlighted by a peppery lemon vinaigrette that made the flavors soar like one of the Eagles recent "Super Bowl Champion" banners do at Lincoln Field. Me, humbled to be known in the greater Los Amgeles area as "your favorite Yelp correspondent..." decided that I could not visit Philadelphia Airport and avert ordering a CHEESESTEAK. My cheesesteak was pretty fly! Obligatory amoroso long loaf baguette heaped with tendrils of flaky flat-topped rib eye, oozy Provolone and mushrooms + onions. The fries were hot, not overly-salinated and performed admirably in service of the star, that unctuous homage to Philly herself, the noble cheesesteak! The ambiance was good- The venue fairly thronged with futbol fanatics cheering lustily as Spain delivered the coup de grace, winning shot in the 89th minute to eclipse Belgium in the World Cup quarterfinal. Our bill, for two entrees, one starter, a soda, taxes and tip was $79.73. In the end, Independence Prime may not deliver Prime Time appetizers but the rest of the meal rose to the challenge.
