    Veggie Pakoras

Cool spot I stumbled across. I thought "Curry and pie" was a cool concept. FYI it's Pizza pie not sweet pies lol. I just had the veggie pakoras which were nicely seasoned fried veggies that come with some nice sauces. Great looking menu. Nice enough staff. I'd come back to try something else.

The food is excellent, and the upstairs area gives you a nice look at busy Georgetown! The owner put on some nice music and it felt very relaxed. Highly recommend the Paneer Pizza and the Vindaloo. Great restaurant, will be back ASAP!

I think this place is tad bit over hyped, in my opinion. The experience didn't start off great right off the bat. We were a party of 5 and the person we spoke to initially all but told us to leave because they couldn't accommodate us. He suggested we to take away instead. We understand that it's a very small place with limited seating, but we didn't mind waiting. As we were discussing what to do, another person came out and told us they could seat us if we could wait 15-20 minutes. We eventually got seated and ordered our food. The chicken momo's were nothing special and under seasoned. The mango ginger fizz was delicious but it's mostly ice and not worth the cost. The pizzas were good though. Very greasy but good. Beware of the spice level that you order - their spicy is spicy so proceed with caution. For us, the medium was perfect, the spicy was too much to enjoy the food. Service was ok. Once we ordered we were kind of forgotten about until we had to track someone down for the check.

Curry Pie is a hidden gem! When you walk in, you head upstairs to dine--it's cozy and quaint, the kind of spot that feels like a well-kept secret. I ordered the chicken tikka masala and saag aloo (spinach and potatoes), which they kindly customized for me since I prefer my spinach without paneer. I asked for it spicy, and they delivered! When I tell you it was absolute perfection, I mean it. Every bite was packed with flavor and danced on my taste buds. The garlic naan--cut into fours--was hands down the best I've ever had. I love Indian food and have eaten a lot of it, and this naan set a new standard. I am glad I have a 15-minute walk back to my car to walk the food down. I'm already planning to come back. Truly superb.

Walking around Georgetown and can't decide between pizza or Indian? Try this spot and get both! Full disclaimer-- this place has a lot of steep stairs and isn't handicap or cane friendly since it's an old row house. I was guided to the top floor and waited ten minutes before service, but the Chaat Street Fries (served with seasoning salt and multiple chutneys) and Mango Chicken pizza were worth the wait. Plus, leftovers!

I came here because I heard it was halal, and I love good fusion food. The pizza is exceptional, dare I say it's the best in dc for a comfortable pizza eating. The curry is just alright, but I'm Pakistani so my standards are naturally high; I'll say that they do load you up on meat in the curries. Service is good. One time, the server messed up the pizza and immediately offered a new one, with a bunch of apologies. He also offered gulab jaman (I haven't had any this good in ages). Ambiance is great. It's small but I've never had an issue getting a table for my party. Great place for a cozy dinner. The location is good too, I don't have issues finding parking in Georgetown near their location

This is a hidden gem. The food is excellent. The salmon Doan was wonderfully flavorful. The atmosphere is private and homey. The menu is fairly diverse. Lots of vegetarian options.

    Lettuce Wrap (Chicken, $6.95)

Located on a side avenue off of Georgetown's ever-busy M Street, Curry & Pie is an Georgetown institution to both students and residents alike, serving up generous portions of Indian-fusion fare at low prices! The actual restaurant looks like it's actually a repurposed house, with both downstairs and upstairs seating. The space is cramped, but clean and well-lit, with lots of natural lighting flowing in from the windows! My party of six stopped in on a Saturday at around 1pm, and were seated almost immediately. You scan a QR code to see the menu, which is chock-full of more traditional Indian classics (Chicken Momos, Paneer Makhani, etc.) to Americanized Indian food (Butter Chicken, Garlic Naan, etc.) to wacky Indian-American fusion (most notably: Chicken Tikka Masala Pizza, anyone?). I ordered their Lettuce Wrap with Chicken ($6.95), and my friends ordered the Chicken Momos ($6.95 for 5), Chicken Tikka Masala ($15.95), Paneer Makhani ($14.95), Naan ($2.95), Garlic Naan ($3.45), and their Chicken Tikka Masala Pizza ($11.95 for a personal-sized pizza). Our orders all came out within 15 minutes: my Lettuce Wraps ($6.95 w/ chicken, shrimp for an extra cost) came with a generous portion of chicken marinated in a spiced sauce, served with a refreshingly acidic cilantro-based sauce on the side! The chicken was breast meat, but it wasn't dry at all - in fact, it was quite tender, and the sauce was flavorful. The veggies and lettuce also tasted fresh - a delicious pick for a healthier choice, and a great value! I didn't try the Chicken Momos ($6.95), but my friend cited that the wrappers were dry, and the filling tasted store-bought. They came with a "secret momo sauce" for dipping, though it was apparently quite salty. Probably a skip for next time! The Chicken Tikka Masala ($15.95) comes with quite a generous portion of the classic dish, as well as a side (or should I say: mountain) of rice. The breast meat came in large, tender chunks that soaked up the well-spiced sauce, and the rice was soft and fluffy. Everyone that ordered this as an entree had to take leftovers home, since the portion is so large! I didn't try the Paneer Makhani ($14.95) either, but my friend enjoyed the soft, mild cheese paired with a brightly creamy tomato sauce with spices, and said it was delicious paired with her side of rice! Since my friends weren't aware of the fact that their entrees came with rice, they also ordered the Naan ($2.95) and the Garlic Naan ($3.45). Each naan dish comes with four large pieces, so it's a great value, though my friends said the Naan was a bit dry (even though it's basted with butter), and the Garlic Naan was overly greasy/oily, with a pool of oil at the bottom of the dish. They enjoyed dipping it in their curry, however! Finally, my last friend ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala Pizza ($11.95) - for a personal size, it's quite large (noticing a theme here?). She enjoyed the unique combination of flavors, but cited that there isn't a ton of Indian flavor in the pizza, nor much chicken on top, and the crust was a bit doughy for her liking. It's a novel concept, but not a must-get here. Overall, we enjoyed our meal at Curry & Pie - nothing here is an absolute must-try, but the portions are big, the food is solid, and service is friendly and fast. A great spot in Georgetown for some cheap eats!

We came on a Friday afternoon, which seemed like good timing since the last time we tried to go here, they had to send us away bc of a big order. The pizza was almost cracker like, and was a good blend of cheese with Indian sauce and spices. We ordered one mango lassi and was given a complimentary one, too. Ambiance is a bit awkward; order up front first, then climb up narrow stairs to a small dining room. Overall though, it was decent.

Saag paneer pizza, Chicken Tikka Masala Curry
    Ashley C.

I've had good Indian pizza in CA so I was excited to try this but was kind of disappointed. Saw a lot of reviews that said the chicken tikka masala pizza had no curry flavor and just tasted like pizza with chicken on top, so we opted for the saag paneer pizza which seemed popular as well. Sadly it just tasted like regular pizza, probably because there was just a lot of mozzarella on it (very satisfying cheese pull though). The chicken tikka masala curry was really good though, would give that dish a 5/5 and come back for it. Comes with rice and we ordered naan on the side, but would skip that next time - the naan wasn't good or like naan i've had at other restaurants before. Felt on par with the frozen stuff you stick in your oven at home. Definitely dip your pizza in the curry or add some on top - its so good!

Portions were smaller and the naan used to be better. The real disappointment was the simple, ubiquitous papadums. What we got weren't traditional papadums but these puffy things that looked and tasted like commerciallymproduced facsimiles that came out of a bag; more like chips. Ditto for the chutneys which weren't chutneys but more like jarred sauce. Not impressed. We left feeling like what happens to fabulous restaurants that then become franchises. Two decades later, it remains an absolute powerhouse and a masterclass in culinary consistency. The Accolades Rasika's trophy case is legendary. Chef Vikram Sunderam secured a prestigious James Beard Award for Best Chef: Mid-Atlantic, and the restaurant has consistently retained a top-tier spot on The Washington Post's 100 Very Best Restaurants list. It's the kind of place that effortlessly balances critical acclaim with a fiercely loyal local following, famously serving as a birthday hotspot for President Obama and a staple for D.C.'s culinary elite. The Menu While the iconic Palak Chaat gets plenty of well-deserved press, the true depth of the kitchen shines brightest in their classic entrees and customizable heat profiles. The Lamb Shank: A definitive triumph of slow-cooked execution. The meat is spectacularly tender, effortlessly falling away from the bone at the mere suggestion of a fork. Infused with a rich, aromatic blend of saffron and roasted coconut, the sauce achieves a profound depth of flavor that is both deeply comforting and complex. Saag Paneer (Malai Palak): Rasika's take on this classic elevates standard creamed spinach to an art form. The spinach retains a vibrant, fresh green character, expertly laced with garlic, onions, and green chilies. The paneer cubes are beautifully delicate, acting as the perfect velvety vehicle for the impeccably spiced greens. The House-Made Hot Sauce: For those who appreciate true heat, Rasika offers an exceptional house-made hot sauce that is cooked to order. Certainly the best meal I've had in DC in years, which includes meals at Jont and P&P in the past several months. Unquestionably the best Indian meal I've had on Earth. The parade of dishes does not have a low point, which is incredible given the range of "mains" from chicken, to sable fish, to lamb taco, to pork cheek. Each dish shows clear French influence - we had most of the five sauces at least once - but with clear, vibrant warmth from Indian spices. Even at places like Eleven Madison and Le Bernardin, there's usually a miss or two. Not last night. Which brings me to the question: why not two Stars? Three? I think some of the answer comes back to ambiance and service. The chef's tasting does not have a dedicated space, flow, or timing. The rhythm of it can be somewhat offbeat with the constant arrival of over-the-top cocktails at the tables around you. And also, it has honestly felt like many of the waitstaff were "in training" on each of our recent visits. I know staff turnover is real and constant, and the staff last night were all perfectly kind, but I think there's a level of consistent experience - "worth a detour" - that has to elevate even perfect food beyond itself to garner the higher levels. Anyway, never mind that. And don't change a thing about the food or presentations. World class.

The flavors were phenomenal, especially on the seafood courses. My favorite course was the black cod fish with scallop foam - just divine. The meal fused Latin American and Indian flavors beautifully. While the food was out of this world, service and ambiance did not meet the standards of a Michelin starred restaurant. The dining space lacked creativity in its decor; it felt quite sterile. Service was fast and attentive but lacked the personal touch I expected. The acoustics in the restaurant are not good; we could barely hear the servers' explanation of the courses. Overall I found Rania to be a very good dining experience, and would recommend it to foodies looking for a unique fusion fine dining experience in DC

The only sad part was that there was literally one slice of mango, so it's hard to tell what the full list of ingredients is or how much of each you actually get. Still, it was really interesting and definitely enough to split. The rice was delicious and had cashews in it, but keep in mind that if you ask for extra rice, there's an eight-dollar charge. The entrées were good and flavorful. I was a little nervous about the spice level since I don't like a lot of spice, but it ended up being perfect. The portion was enough for one person. Overall, pretty good. Given my celiac, I felt safe eating here, and they had a lot of vegan and gluten-free options.

I highly recommend the daal makhani - simple dish but the best version of it I've had in a while. All of their reimagined experiences sound delicious too and I will be returning to try them. All of the servers have been nice and accommodating to dietary restrictions. Just writing this review makes me salivate thinking about how good the food is... If you are a South Asian food lover, you can't miss this spot!
