    Signature Curry Katsu (pork loin)
    Alex L.

We ordered the signature curry katsu (pork loin) and the classic teishoku rice plate with double menchi katsu. The curry was really good. I'm not entirely but I tasted a faint hint of dry salted plum, which added a really interesting depth. That subtle curry paired beautifully with the rice and katsu. The pork katsu itself was pretty standard. The teishoku set came with a dashi based sauce instead of curry. It had a strong, savory flavor and was enjoyable, but I personally preferred the curry. The double menchi katsu was flavorful, it had a light onion flavor to it. My partner found it a bit overpowering, but I thought it was good.

Wait time: Notoriously has a long wait time to get a table with a place to put your name and number when walking in. There are other shops in the strip mall that you can peruse around while waiting. Ambiance: A fairly small restaurant with tables stacked very close to one another and easy to hear other peoples conversations going on while being quite loud inside. Service: Service is very efficient and the servers a very detailed about the menu. There are also buttons on the table to press in case you need a server more quickly as well. Food: Very tasty omurice and flavorful sauce. The rice is cooked well without feeling like it is overcooked or too hard. Potato salad is really good as well and they have extra chile powders in case you want to make it spicier.

Highlights: * Go early * Stroller/baby friendly * Curry and rice stole the show Food * Signature Katsu Curry (pork) - the pork Katsu was okay, though the curry itself was so delicious it made the Katsu the side dish. Enriching the rice with mild curry flavor, there's a reason half the plate is just curry. No one would order a dish with just rice but that was my favorite part. Not pictured but we also got the Corn Potage Soup and loved it! Service: With two babies, one stroller and one child seat, was thankful that they could accommodate our party. It helps we were there early. It fills up fast. Anyway great service here!

Having grown up in Cupertino, I'm always in awe how much things change year after year. Stumbled into this plaza and found Curry Hyuga was rather new and thought to give it a try. Super simple menu and smaller indoor seating. It was comfortable enough to have a catch up with a friend and not have to scream over each other. I ordered the chicken katsu curry and it was pretty good! Wasn't blown away by any means, but the portion was a good size and the pricing was fair. Solid curry joint & decent price point.

We signed in the kiosk. I don't think the wait time is accurate because I came here with a party of 3 and it said it is a 7 minute wait. We waited 21 minutes until we got the message to check in. Overall, the service was great. Food came out fast and tasty. My cousin-in-law said it tasted similar to the dish he had in Japan. They are adding new menu items soon and I'm looking forward to it. I will be coming back.

Great food and awesome service! Its a small lively place but they seem to turn tables quickly without compromising the quality of the food. I got the basic katsu curry with rice and it was delicious!! Would I go back? For sure!!

ou can really taste the 6 hour caramelized onions in the curry!! Definitely unique compared to other places that have an unoriginal flavor that's similar to those Golden Curry blocks. Katsu was decently thick and had a crispy crust. I also loved the refreshing potato salad and portion size of the shredded cabbage. Had some leftovers for a small lunch! The curry in the udon had a different, less rich, more variety of spices based flavor than the one in the rice dish and a soft boiled egg. Spot doesn't have many tables so I could envision a bit of a wait on the weekend.

I love coming to Curry Hyuga after grabbing matcha from Izumi. I always order their Chicken Katsu Curry, and the flavor is consistently delicious every time. The restaurant has a great vibe and a cozy, inviting interior. The staff are always warm and welcoming, which makes the experience even better. I'll always recommend this spot to my friends whenever they're craving Japanese katsu curry.

The service is always amazing here and food is delicious. They've been adding new stuff to their menu as well which is great. I love getting their katsu curry (pork) and the corn potato soup. The place is a little small though so can get crowded depending on when you go but overall, would recommend!

Small focused menu, great presentation taste and price. No idea about spiciness but everything else is great.

Very delicious spot to try and I 100% recommend if you are in the area. It's a very small restaurant but the service was really fast. Was debating between the Katsu Don or Signature Katsu Curry! I had to try the curry for the one time so I got this and loved it. Very good comfort meal and the katsu sauce was very sweet and flavorful. Only downside was that the curry was a bit spicier than anticipated than normal curry. Of course you have the option to change the spice level but it had a bigger kick than anticipated.

I had have Curry Hyuga on my "Want to go" list since forever and I finally try them out this weekend!! Likes many other Japanese restaurant's aesthetic, the store lay out and decoration is simple, minimalist, practical and have a little bit tradition Japan vibes. They have table for 2 and 4, a full house could seat up to 20-30 people at a time. I came 30 minutes after their opening time and there were 15 parties ahead of me, this place is so popular!! Put my name on the waitlist and waited for 40 minutes. Service was super quick and staff were friendly and efficient during my visit. I think my food arrived within 2 minutes after I placed an order. I got their Signature Katsu Curry with additional Chicken Karaage and Ajitama Soft Boiled Egg. Also I tested all 5 of their spicy chilli flakes and my favorite was Orange Habanero! Flavor wise, the curry is good, I can taste the vegetable inside it clearly, not completely smooth but came with texture of stir-fry vegetable in the curry sauce. The Katsu was crispy, but not as crispy as I would like it to be. I personally prefer thicker cut of katsu, while their katsu is on the thinner side, but no complaint, the breading was good and it was fried to perfection. I'm honestly prefer the Chicken Karaage a little bit better, the meat was juicy and flavorful. Ajitama Egg's yolk was more of a jammy consistency instead of oozy or runny. They did put a healthy amount of shredded cabbage to balance the meal out, creamy the potato salad was good and fukujin pickles makes the meal more balance. Overall, I can finally cross Curry Hyuga out of my "Want to go" list, I did have a good experience during my visit, food was good, service was great!

Well deserved of the hype and rating. The owner(?)/waiter is so welcoming and warm it made me feel good about it before I even ate anything. I ordered their special menu fried oyster curry, and it was amazing. I finished all of it. The oysters were crispy on the outside and juicy inside. The curry was flavorful and right amount of spicy. Even the potato salad was very creamy. Will revisit. Managed to grab a table without waiting on a friday noon, but I doubt thats the norm as the place is pretty much full.

Is the curry vegetarian or does it contain any meat broth?

They have two completely vegetarian options. They are on the menu photo as "vegetarian" and I called and confirmed.

How much is a regular dish ? And when did it open?

Around 17 dollars for a dish

Does any of their menu item contain peanuts or any nut related ingredients? Peanut allergy here!

I also have a peanut/tree nut allergy. I survived and enjoyed eating a curry plate here

Impossible for non wagies to go there, meaning I can't have any when I'm there on weekend vacation I guess, but with how everything closes early and is dying in Bay Area, I'm somehow not surprised. Very tiny spot and not much seating, so you're either taking it to go or you're praying there's a chair and a counter that's free. No big deal since I've been to other Japanese curry places like this. I've had a mix bag where the katsu was deliciously crispy and moist on the inside and days where the meat inside is dry, even drenched in curry. Hot curry sauce is Japanese hot, so it has spices in it but not spicy at all. The workers do their best for the lunch rush, so that's a plus at least. Overall, it was okay, but man the times sure have changed.

Parked easily on the side street, walked in around 3:30 in the afternoon, no hassle. The place has an authentic Japanese cafe feel, the kind where the menu has things you don't typically find at your average sushi spot. I had my eye on the sandos, specifically the Chicken Katsu Sando, but landed on the Spicy Tuna Don instead. Good call. Spicy yellowfin tuna tartare over well-seasoned sushi rice, topped with sesame, furikake, green onions, with a little radish and cucumber on the side. The tuna was very fresh, the rice was on point. Service was quick and polite - they even have an outside window for takeout. One nice detail: a neat dollop of wasabi is pasted along the inside wall of the bowl, which is a clean way of letting you control exactly how much heat you want to mix in. Tasteful presentation, but don't let that fool you. It has a legitimate kick, so calibrate accordingly. Paired it with their Honjozo dry sake cup, which was a nice complement to the meal and exactly the right call for a mid-afternoon bite. The sandos looked great on other tables and I fully intend to go back for the Chicken Katsu Sando - and then go try the wine bar next door to it. which was pretty tempting.
