After reading the reviews here I finally feel brave enough to leave my own. I saw so many positive reviews so decided to try the butter chicken based on those, well I know that I'd never order that again much less return to this business. It was kind of bland all the way around for my taste. I don't get spicy, but it was just not memorable. I also got the samosas which were not flavorful even though they looked like they would be. I can give it another chance for the food and I usually would, except the owner made me feel so unsafe and uncomfortable while picking up my meal in the store. He felt the need to express how desperate he is for business (okay, maybe he just needed to let that out..) but then he went on to talk about how he's divorced, his teenage kids don't speak to him (I said well don't stop trying to have a good relationship with them) and he responded with Ehh, I want to get remarried and have more kids. This man is like 50, and it felt like he was testing the waters with me by mentioning all this. He also felt the need to brag about how he's running this all by himself and still goes to the gym everyday. I had my baby with me and he complimented her saying how beautiful she is and how she looks just like me. I responded how she looks just like my fiance, her daddy. After getting the food I hurried up to my car and got my baby in there safely while checking to see if he would be coming behind me or something. Once I get home, the food looks good and I was excited but let down by the taste. I was eating my meal when I get a text message from the owner (COMPLETE INVASION OF PRIVACY). He got my phone number bc I called my order in. He sends a long text about leaving a google review, how he works hard on the food and how he goes to the gym everyday and attached a link to a YouTube video of him working out (??? Wtf). I wish I had saved the messages but honestly it just made me even more concerned that he was texting me after already making me feel incredibly uncomfortable. I wouldn't recommend the food, but I ABSOLUTELY would not recommend the establishment based on my interaction with the owner. read more

The food is far more of what I've been eating around Houston area. Chicken masala to butter chicken we asked for spicy and they are not even medium spicy. Indian food is well known for it's spiciness but this is nothing compare to it. To top it all, we got serve on plastic silverware and plates. This comment is for the restaurant food and the owner who apparently is also the chef (or tying to be). The owner responses to negative reviews comes up in such sentences: 1. 'Clown Clients like you; 2. Did you take a look at yourself in the mirror today and see that gut of yours hanging out; 3. So here's the thing. I went through and thoroughly read reviews on this place and still wanted to give it a shot. First thing is that the address that pulls up is not the actual location... it took me to Baan Thai-- which I did end up eating at but we will get back to that. I was determined to figure out where the restaurant was. I swore in my many drives up and down 1960 that I have seen it but just couldn't remember. I called the number no one answers and it says to text your order huh....Well- I found it- across the street. Cool- so I pull up : the open sign is lit but I see no action inside. I continue to sit in my car and read up more reviews because honestly... it looks super sketchy. Ok - so I go to enter and the door is locked. There's all these handwritten signs posted in the door: " door dash pick up at the super k store next door" "If I'm not here call me I live 1 minute away" "Hiring" Lol clearly bc where is everyone and what does that say to me that you're not here ready to serve your customers. I have to wait for you to come and fire things up. That also makes me question thinks like freshness, and food preparation... idk it was weird and then they supposedly do Mexican dishes too.... I don't know. So for now it's two stars bc I didn't even eat the food and was left with a bad taste and I love Indian food.. the next day I tried curry house-- find that review too . We went there this evening at 730pm to have dinner and what an experience it was. The two young men cooking and serving seemed to be lost as to what the food should consist of, pricing and whether to eat from a plate, utensils . I ordered the Curry Chicken, not good. The chicken was very tough, rice had absolutely no taste to it. My husband ordered the lamb kebab. He got a small square ground lamb in a styrofoam container. Nothing more and charged $20.00 for it. Not very good at all. I got up and asked the cook in the back if there was anything that came with the lamb kebab and he said some rice. Did not receive it at all. We did not get any plates or utensils with our order. I had to specifically ask for them. The food was not good and the service was definitely not up to par. We will not be returning to this restaurant again. Towards the end of our experience they turned on the music very LOUD. No booths to sit in. Has tables. The place was not clean. I don't believe any Indian restaurant owner would give this so called restaurant a one star. read more

Had lunch at Curry Sultan last week with my girlfriends. Two of us had the Butter Chicken and it was very good with white rice. We tried the cheese naan and it was very good too. One of my friends ordered the Tikka Masala and said she really liked it. My other friend ordered a curry rice dish (can't remember the name of it) and she described it as excellent. The owner came out to talk with us and it was apparent that he is very passionate about his food and the way he cooks it. He only uses healthy oils and butter in his recipes. What a disappointing meal. I shared the chicken korma, palak paneer, garlic naan and papards with my husband. The best part of the meal was the papards appetizer with a type of bael. After that it was down hill. The chicken korma sauce was so blended that you could not discern a tomato from a nut. It was overly spiced with cinnamon, and while we ordered it medium it was more than mild. There were only 5 pieces of chicken in n the meal and they didn't taste like they were cooked in the sauce but just added to warm them up. The palak paneer sauce was also blended to a soup consistency with very little cheese. The naan was good. I dont usually leave negative reviews because Im sympathetic for people who start businesses. There's also very few locally owned restaurants in my neighborhood and of those, few that are good. I'll just echo what others have said: watery curry, low grade basmati rice, expensive small portions ($1.50 for a sauce cup), and in my case, underbaked bread because they forgot to include it and so they had to bake it at the last minute. The dining area was clean but nothing fancy. The service I received was friendly and when they realized they forgot to include the bread, they were apologetic. From reading the other reviews it sounds like the customer service has improved but the food still isn't that great. read more

I have only eaten curry food one other time - this was very good. I had butter chicken. Mild - it had the perfect amount of spice and it was not overpowering. The chicken was tender. I was a little put off by the idea of an Indian/Mexican combo restaurant but my concerns were soon put to rest. The owner couldn't have been nicer and explained any and all questions we had. The menu is a bit limited in comparison to a full sized restaurant but what was on the the menu, was very good. After our initial concerns about the Indian/Mexican fusion, I ended up ordering the lamb curry burrito. This is my third time here, and this restaurant is quickly becoming a favorite of mine. The food is so flavorful and fresh every time. Not to mention healthier than many alternatives. I recommend trying the vindaloo with lamb and of course the garlic naan. The samosas are great, as well. Additionally, the tables, dining area, and restroom, were spotless upon each visit. Horrible, spent $80 bucks on a great menu with worthless food. Small containers of curries with a few piece of meat, the pilaf was rice mixed with the mixed bag vegetables, the masala fries was fries with a dipping sauce, the chaat was just mixed in a ton of salt and chaat masala powder. I think my neighbor could make better food just following basic instructions. Nice to fund your restaurant. Also, next time have someone that semi speaks English to take orders. I don't know what was happening but apparently the owner wasn't there. When walked in after work there was a person sitting in the lobby area and someone who didn't appear to know much tried to figure where the menus were and how to direct us the table. Found out shortly he was a delivery person waiting for a take-out order. The lady in the hobby we were soon to realize had been waiting patiently for 30 minutes for another takeout order. The waitress couldn't really help with the appetizers (she had only been on the job for three days) and messed up our simple beer order. It was 30 minutes before she got our beers out while also trying to assist a third person with a takeout order. Meanwhile we were the only seated customers. After another ten minutes we left feeling sorry for all the takeout customers but mostly for the poor waitress. Since I don't know the story about why the owner/chef wasn't there I'm going to give them another chance sometime. But probably more because one of the other guys had been here several times before and said it was really good food. I'll take his recommendation as he is from London and they have some amazing Indian restaurants there. Until next time they will have to accept this single star. read more
