Crux of the matter...it ain't all that! Freshly minted this joint calls its cuisine Indian street food. The menu looks pretty interesting, the decor is trendy and cool. The food.... subpar(what a letdown!) We ordered the following: 1. deconstructed samosa: it felt like if was heated in the microwave. Portions were cold. 2. Paneer tikka masala bowl(to go): the box had a sticker which said paneer... unfortunately however we were served chicken instead of paneer. While we eat every kind of protein, I don't see how any vegetarian would be ok with this faux pas. 3. Punjabi Paneer bowl( to go) 4. Chai: served with 2 biscuits. The tea was watered down. All the food was lacking flavor and wasn't anything to write home about. Overall: Given the restaurants at Patel plaza right next door do Indian street food that is cheap and extremely delicious.. A very unique spot added to Atlanta. I was hesitant to try this place since I'm not a huge fan of fusion Indian food but this was a lot better than I expected. We ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala Burrito, Sexy Fries, Deconstructed Samosa, and the Lamb Bowl The burrito really exceeded my expectations - definitely worth getting if this is your first visit. The deconstructed samosa was also really good, butttt $10 for 2 samosas?? That's wayyy too overpriced. Same with the sexy fries - definitely not worth the price point. They were just sweet potato fries with some masala sauce tossed on top and tasted average. I think the food is a little pricy for what you get, however the portions are pretty big and good for sharing. First time here. The young man at the counter was just basic as far as customer service goes. I told him it was my first time there, and he was silent. No recommendations. No further small talk. Anyway, I love Indian cuisine and had been craving Samosa Chaat. I decided on the Deconstructed Samosa and added chicken because it was very similar. I've eaten here multiple times but my most recent visit had me very upset. I ordered the Death by Tikki Masala thali platter and when I reached home and opened my container I did not receive all of the food that comes with my platter. The platter comes with two meats, lentil, rice, naan, two different pickled veggies and the crispy fishy bread. As you can see in the picture I only received one chicken, lentil, rice and naan (plus extra naan I ordered) I paid in total $19.44 I called them and explained I'm missing some dishes from my meal. One lady apologized then blamed her new chef. Then she told me they discontinued their pickled veggies??? But that's not what their website says.. plus my mother ordered meat sweats thali and received her pickled veggies. So the next day i went up there showed them (picture) I was missing some food from my order. She looked me in my face and told me this is all I get from the thali platter.. that's not true- I've order thali platters from them many times and i never missed so much food from my order. All in all they did not attempt to fix their mistake nor apologize so I went down the street to the Patel Plaza and bought BETTER food with LARGER portions for much less. I was so disappointed in their customer service. Instead of realizing they messed up they tried making me look like I was lying and didn't know their menu. Their food is good don't get me wrong but the service placed a sour taste in my mouth and they aren't the only Indian restaurant in the area (Patel plaza is down the street) Oh and their chips and fries are always stale like they've been sitting out so avoid those. Curry Up Now is definitely Indian fast food. It's a staple, solid food, but you can get better in the area. We got the bowl and platter, and the portion of curry/main dish was small compared to the rice and bread. I would come back and try the burrito and other dishes, but it wasn't a stand out restaurant. Amazingly i've never reviewed Curry Up now, although i've dined here, and passed by this place many times. My latest visit was a to go order. There was no dine in at the time due to Covid, but I ordered the following: Meat Sweats Thali ($15) With a name like meat sweat, you better expect some meat, and boy do they deliver. In the meat sweat thali you have two types of chicken (kadhai...which contains cashews, and butter chicken) as well as kashmiri lamb. Rounding out the dish is flour naan and tumeric & fenugreek scented basmati rice. On its own, you can definitely split this with a buddy, but this turned into lunch and dinner for me! So what did I think of all this food?? Right off the bat, my favorite dish was the butter chicken, followed closely by the lamb! The butter chicken was very rich in flavor, and the left over sauce went perfectly with the rice and/or naan. The lamb was soft, not very gamey and had a flavor I was quite pleased with. While there was nothing 'wrong' with the kadhai chicken, I didn't like the nutty texture, but that's a personal preference here that you may absolutely love. The naan was soft and filling, the dish overall hit the spot. Located in the Whole foods shopping area, Curry up now is right next to the exit that lets out onto church street (directly across from the BMW dealership), and while there is parking directly in front of the store, it is limited. No worries though, because there are parking spots all over this lot, so you're good, so long as you don't mind walking if you park further out. Service was fast, although this was to go, and while I know the food is better (and looks better) dining in, it holds up even on a 15 minute drive home. Recommend it? You order at the counter here and they bring out your food. The service here was phenomenal. We got our food at a jimmy-Johns-level speed, which was impressive. Everything was good, but definitely tasted like fast-food Indian to me. I got a thali and the samosas. Ordered the Papdi chat. It definitely tastes different. Kind of like an indian potato salad, but it has some crunch and spice. The texture and flavor with the chick peas and the crunch might be good to put in a wrap. I'm guessing chaat masala yogurt is vegan since it says VG on the menu. 3 stars because While the customer service was not bad, the mood of the place and staff was indifferent. Not the welcoming good vibes one would want to experience trying a new place for the first time. But overall it was a decent experience. No bad vibes. The ginger mint lemonade is ok. Not raving good. I probably wouldn't order it again. The health inspection score is 96 A. The customer service was actually good at the end of the experience. This was our unexpected visit to 'Curry Up Now'. They welcome us right away & offer us menu. He help us in ordering. Dahi puri had a amazing freshness to it. Holi moli Fried ravioli was seems like freshly made & it was with nice lite goat cheese, I think. QuesadilliX was ok as per it says in menu. The show stopper was The Grand 'Malpua Crepe with Gulab Jamun'. Almost right amount of sweetness with fresh aroma of variyali! You can't go wrong with it. It's a must try item. The overall ambiance of the place is very nice. The lady at the register was nice and helpful, and the staff was efficient. I just wasn't a fan. I had the chicken tikka masala and it was basic. Not bland but not too flavorful either. The chickpeas were okay. Not bad but nothing to write home about. The chili naan was good. The mango lassi is very small for it to be like 4 or 5 dollars, and isn't that good in my opinion. I'm not a big fan of naanstop but I think they have better mango lassi, and a better serving of it for the price you pay. Overall just decent, I don't think I will come back. read more

I'm a fan of Curry Up Now. This is the latest in the trend of "fast casual" restaurants (think Chipotle, Cava, Tin Drum, that sort of thing) around Atlanta to come to my attention, and I was pleasantly surprised by how good the food was, given the generally low expectations I usually have towards this type of restaurant. This is the kind of place you can go to for a quick counter-service lunch, in a comfy, hip atmosphere, but unlike Chipotle, you can actually expect to get a perfectly solid meal here. I've tried a number of things here over the several times I've been. The bowls are a good bang for you buck. I enjoyed the butter chicken bowl, which came with rice and dal. The curry itself was a bit heavy on the cumin for my taste, but still quite tasty. A totally respectable butter chicken. The portion size was perfect. The chaat in the "street food" sections of the menu are surprisingly good, from what I've tried. I liked the bhel puri, which was very flavorful and refreshing with the cooling cucumber and chutneys-- though the wetness of the dish made the bites at the bottom pretty soggy. I also quite liked the deconstructed samosa, which had a great variety of flavors and textures. The chicken kathi roll was solid, though it doesn't hold a candle to the one you can get at Chai Pani. A lot of dishes on the menu get pretty creative with the fusion elements, with things like burritos, sandwiches, and tacos (still with an Indian flavor palate), which may or may not appeal to you depending on how traditional you like your food to be. In general, Curry Up Now takes more liberties with the food than a more "authentic" Indian restaurant might, but it's less Americanized than you might expect, and the flavors are still solid, so I'm on board with it. If you're looking for a quick-but-good lunch, this is definitely worth your while. read more

You order at the counter, take a number, sit at a table, and the waiter brings your food out to you. The interior is decorated with art with bright pops of color. There is both indoor and outdoor seating that can be enjoyed in nice weather. Food: The first time I went to Curry Up Now, I ordered a Chicken Tikka Masala Burrito. With the burrito, you can order it as dry or mojado (wet). Since I was dining in, I got the mojado. I wouldn't recommend this for to go as it can get messy and the burrito can get soggy if you don't get the chance to eat it right away. The burrito was a little more salty that I would have preferred and I did notice that I was really thirsty afterwards. However, it was still very delicious! The second time I went back to Curry Up Now, I ordered a Deconstructed Samosa with Mango Lassi. It was very flavorful and I liked the mix of textures in the dish. The sweet and rich Mango Lassi complimented the savory samosa well! I also loved that the Mango Lassi came in a cute jar. Overall, I have liked everything I've gotten from Curry Up Now. Would I come back/ would I recommend to a friend? Yes! The food is flavorful, filling, and reasonably priced. But most important, the food is delicious. We had the meat sweats (name of dish) and it was enough for 2. Overall, the food ranges from OK to good. Here is what we ordered: Punjabi by Nature Bowl (with chicken) - This is our favorite dish. There are many components in the bowl and the flavor of each component is on point. Also, it has a balance protein, starch, and vegetable combination and therefore, is a complete meal. At $10.00, it's also a great value. Kathi Roll (with chicken) - Overall a nice dish. I love the wrap which is a house made flatbread coated with egg. It has great soft texture and eggy flavor. However, I'm not crazy about the filling. Although the flavor is good, I feel like something is missing (I really don't know what) compared to other Kathi Rolls I've had in the past. I also really enjoy the chips ( I supposed it's made in-house) that comes with it - super crispy! Pav Bhaji - I'm really not feeling this one. The small bowl of bhaji (mashed vegetable) has decent flavor, but it's not something special. The two pieces of pav are nothing more than buttered and toasted dinner rolls. At $8, I feel like I didn't get my money worth. Mango Lassi - Has good flavor and texture (But I reckon it's hard to screw up mango lassi). Overall, it's a 3.5 experience. I met a few friends here last Saturday (including fellow Yelper, Karen G.) before catching a play up the block. This is a cool spot in Decatur located on Church street (by the Whole Foods 365), that serves Indian street food. The parking has ample space, and is shared with the other businesses on the lot. The eye catching wall inside has an extravagant pop art style mural, that captures one small snippet of a love for all that is Atlanta history and culture (MLK, Atlanta Braves, Atlanta Falcons, Coca Cola...). I found a nod to unity in this beautiful Curry shop, and I loved it! The employees were very friendly and helpful. The 2 who stood out were Corey and Tatiana. They were both so nice, and engaged my group in conversation, as well as taking our picture for us. Corey even made a good birthday recommendation for a free ice cream at the Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams up the block. What I especially appreciated was his recommendation of the Mandarin cardamom fountain soda. I normally don't do soda, and was set to just get a water. But he gave me a sample, and I was sold!!! Next thing I knew, I was walking my mason jar up to the fountain for a double!!! For my meal, I ordered the Tikka masala bowl, along with some Sweet Potato fries. I wasn't expecting to be so blown away by the bowl, but it was extremely GOOD!! Curry Up Now is a place I ate in San Mateo in 2012 and one of my first reviews that I wrote for Yelp! And when I heard that this place opened up in Decatur near my work, I went and showed my wife what this place was about. What I remembered was that the Chicken Tikka Burrito was where it was at. I want to remember if I had the option to not get rice or not, but since I haven't had it since 2013 time period I thought that I should get the full experience to give me that reminder of how Curry Up Now's food was. We decided to get two burritos. The Chicken Tikka Masala and the Ghee Makhni burritos. Hands down, the Chicken Tikka Masala was the winner. It was what served my memory of how it was and how amazing it taste and that hasn't changed. Basically, if you want something quick and try something different as far as indian fast food, this place should definitely be on the list. The cashier took her time explain the menu to my friend and I being it was our 1st time there. She also recommend the best dishes on the menu, as there are many to chose from. Why has no one ever thought of this before? All the things you love about Butter Makhani or Sag Paneer wrapped up with the rice to go! I can only finish half of one in a sitting, they're so filling, but so delicious I want to eat the whole thing and then a second! Drizzle on some Cilantro & Tamarind Chutney and it's just heaven! Yeah you can order tradtional family style Indian meels or their awsome rice bowls, but who cares!! IT'S AN INDIAN BURRITO FOLKS! Also as a smaller note-- pun totally intended-- is their Mini samosas! I love samosas but sometimes they're too big and fill you up too quick so you don't get to enjoy the rest of the meal. With humble beginnings a decade ago as a Bay Area food truck, Curry Up Now has now spread to good old Decatur, GA. Studying the big menu, so many things sounded good and quirky, and I nearly went with a burrito. Eventually I purchased the Punjabi By Nature bowl to go. This particular bowl consisted of saag paneer and tikka masala along with turmeric and fenugreek-scented rice and pickles that seemed to have a tamarind taste. You could select chana garbanzo masala or homestyle daal lentils (I got the chana masala), and there was pico kachumber which I skipped due to the cilantro content. I'm a fan of both saag paneer and tikka masala so this bowl sounded like a perfect choice for me. For $10, I was skeptical about the portion size; would it be enough? But at my destination, I was pleasantly surprised to open up the rectangular box sealed with a cute chicken sticker to find a generous portion of food. Everything was flavorful, and there was a little kick of spice but nothing ridiculous. Curry Up Now is in the Whole Foods 365 shopping center across the street from the Emory Decatur Hospital. Look for it in the section with the Hollywood Feed and Bad Daddy's Burger Bar. I'll have to return so I can try that burrito. read more

Between the two burritos that I tried, Chicken Tikka Masala and Ghee Makhni, the Chicken Tikka Masala was my favorite. Both of them were super flavorful and packed with ingredients. We picked-up our burritos and ate it few hours later since we were in the area and didn't want to come back down to Decatur that day. I was worried that it would affect the flavor or make the wrap super soggy. The burritos still tasted great after being reheated in a mini-oven. Everything remained intact. I ordered the sweet potato fries, chicken Tina masala burrito and the dessert balls (I can't ever remember the official name of those heavenly things). I have to say, I'm pleasantly surprised. This place is no frills, good Indian food. Think Indian style Chipotle. You order with a cashier at the front and pay. They give you a number and you grab a seat. Appetizer: the sweet potato fries was off the chain. It says that it comes with a sweet ketchup but that description is misleading as all get out. While the ketchup is sweet (like all ketchup is) this one had a kick that was out of control in the best way possible. I knew I was in for a flavor train and that was just the first stop!! Entree: I chose the chicken tikka masala burrito. The cashier said that was what "put this place on the map". Honestly, it was fine. The flavor was bold and good, but I'm not sure if I want a burrito filled with a ton of rice. Some other people got bowls and platters that looked much better than my burrito. I'll be back to try something else for sure. Dessert: these dessert balls here were off the chain! These balls are my favorite Indian dessert and anytime they are available, I get them. Here, they were exceptional. Usually, they are way too sweet and sometimes even inedible because the sugar bomb is too much to handle. Not here...don't get me wrong, they are sweet, but they aren't too sweet here compared to other places I've had them. Also, the slivered almond topping on them was a welcomed texture that was necessary now that I know about it. Drinks: I started with the mandarin cardamom drink. I will say that the presence of cardamom was underwhelmed I really wish it had had about 3x as much. I moved onto the organic coconut soda and that was MAGICAL! I love coconut and this soda didn't let me down. All in all, the food, service, and atmosphere of this place is a win-win situation. I...am...in...shock of how good this place is. Since it was raining all day today, I was in the mood for some good curry (cause curry warms up the soul ya know?). Unfortunately, my go-to Indian curry place closed down, but Curry Up Now popped up on Yelp. I heard of Curry Up Now through Instagram and Yelp before, but I never checked it out until now as I don't really crave Indian food that often. Service was impeccable - as soon as I walked in, a worker came over to give me a menu. Note: you order at the counter here, but I found the gesture pretty nice (especially considering all the options they had!). I ended up getting the butter chicken rice bowl because I'm basic and not that adventurous when it comes to new food. I also got it with an order of the mini naan. The butter chicken was very moist and delicious! It was packed with flavors and complimented the rice well. You have an option of choosing your side too - I got the garbanzo masala. It was good, but I prefer the lentils that my boyfriend got as his side instead. They also serve the rice bowl with a small dollop of diced tomatoes and onions. At first I was like "Ew I don't want extra veggies in my food", but it ended up complimenting the meal very well! It was the first time I saw tomatoes being added to butter chicken, but it was surprisingly pretty good. The only downside was the naan bread. I paid $2 to add the naan to my rice bowl, but it would be a better deal just to get the naan from the side menu (which is only $3). You get way more naan if you order it from the side menu.
