I had been here once before and ordered my friend a birthday mini fruit tart and myself a cake. I remember wishing the cake was a bit more moist and curious to try other desserts. I'm so happy I returned. This time I ordered the turtle cheesecake slice and a passionfruit tart for myself. I devoured these sweets. They were so yummy. They have more of a takeout situation here, so I ordered my sweets to go and ate them at home. It's pretty tiny shop. I loved the cheesecake the most. The passionfruit tart was fun, although with passionfruit as the base flavor I wish there were more tropical topping and then maybe a plain custard one with the berries. It was still tasty. I'd recommend stopping by if you're in the area looking for some dessert.

The cake I had was a red velvet cake beautifully decorated, but a little heavy and sugary for me al thought I usually eat cake from asian bakeries. The toffee cookie was also amazing! Inside the display cases were beautiful, the only downside is there isn't much room and you can't really sit in there! Service was good, very welcoming! I'm definitely coming back for the passion fruit tart, the other tarts do not compare and i'm so so serious about it .....

I pulled up on a Thursday morning at 10 to get treats for work; parked on the street which was pretty easy and was blown away immediately. The smell of coffee; the beautiful plants up front; the fact that it was way more than a bakery and then there was the holy grail of baked goods. I was in awe for about 5 minutes. How does one go on and even decide they want one item? The establishment was clean; their customer service was great and I even saw some local gems in there for purchase and the cutest patio. Outside there was the coolest vending machine for when you want a treat and may be in a hurry or the bakery is closed. Hands down the coolest thing I've seen in a while. The oatmeal cream pie needs a review on its own. This soft huge cookie is one for the books. With hints of cinnamon and toffee in the cookie and then the best cream cheese butter cream flavored filling. I'll literally never be able to eat a regular oatmeal cream pie again. I'm new to shydigz but they have a customer for life. I'll be there Thursday for the special!

One of the things I instantly noticed on the menu was their vegan breakfast sandwich with a homemade bean-based sausage patty. I got myself an egg and cheese sandwich on a buttermilk biscuit (delicious, by the way) with pepper jack cheese, veggies (tomato, lettuce, and avocado), and for a dollar extra, one of their vegan breakfast sausage patties. I was immediately impressed by how flavorful the patty was- you get a crispness upon the first bite and then the creaminess of the beans afterwards. It was absolutely incredible in a way I can't even describe. I also got the Thai iced coffee, which tasted as sweet as a typical Thai iced tea, yet in coffee form. I may only be spending a few days in Richmond, but I'm absolutely coming back next time I'm here to try more things. DIVINE! The woman behind the counter was super sweet too. If you're in Richmond, run here!

The Vanilla Latte is one of the best I've had, and their breakfast sandwiches never miss. My husband and I absolutely love the vibe -- it feels like one of those cozy neighborhood cafés you see in the movies. The staff is always super friendly, and service is quick. And, DON'T skip dessert! Their Nutella Brownie = 10/10!

You can't miss it. Step inside and the corner location pays off -- gorgeous afternoon light pouring through a row of vintage stained glass set above the front windows, throwing color all over the pink-and-white interior. Chandelier with little fabric shades, topiary along the ledge, counter seating to watch the street. Charming spot. One small heads-up: the menu is a digital screen, and it wasn't working when I visited -- so you're ordering a bit blind, leaning on the bakery case and whatever the staff can tell you. Not a dealbreaker, but worth knowing going in. And you're really here for the baked goods, which hold up. The kouign-amann was the standout -- deeply caramelized, lacquered, shatteringly flaky with that signature sugar crust. I also grabbed two macarons (a berry-pink one and a teal with chocolate filling) that were exactly right: crisp shell, chewy center, generous filling. No complaints. The case is stocked with range -- lemon bars, quiche, chocolate cherry walnut cookies, confetti sandwich cookies, Florentines, a vegan peanut butter option, pineapple upside-down, and more. Plenty of GF and vegan labeling, which is nice to see. You can watch them pulling fresh trays from the proofer behind the counter. A few other notes: it's a small operation, so selection depends on what's come out of the oven that day, and the working area behind the counter is tight and a little cluttered (charming, but not polished). Corner parking is street-only and that intersection gets busy. Bottom line -- a genuinely good Richmond bakery with real pastry chops and a beautiful corner space. Get the kouign-amann before they sell out.
