Jack has been beyond helpful in our times of electrical need. On one occasion, after a wind storm, the entire electric to our house was left bent and out of commission. He repaired it so that we could function and then replaced it properly once parts came in. He also repaired a short in our daughter's bathroom on, no pun intended, short notice during crucial potty training days. This is my second time using Jack and he is wonderful! The first time was to hang new light fixtures in my house and the most recent was a thermostat that wasn't working. Long story short, it was more than the thermostat and turned into issues with our boiler. Custom Electric put in a new line to my garage after (assuming) tree roots pinched the existing conduit and severed the connection. They did a great job and handled it while I was traveling for the Thanksgiving holiday with minimal visible effect on my lawn. I will say that while initially the electrician seemed a little off put by the number of questions I was asking and the level of detail in which I wanted to understand what was going on and the various options for resolution, he did get used to it and started explaining things more in depth. He is super responsive by phone and does not make you wait for hours or days (like some electricians I have contacted) to hear back from him. I have used Jack four times. Jack gets the job done right. On our most recent project his carpenter Cary had to cut a hole in the floor to put an electric water heater in our crawlspace. They cut the hardwood, installed 220 and discovered some wire that was run without Tolex. Since I am selling the house, this could have been a huge issue during inspection. Jack caught it. Jack fixed it . In this house he has also installed 220 so I could put in new front loading wash/dryer. He ran a grounded 110 receptacle to the bedroom. He also fixed a dangerous junction box in our kitchen and hung track lighting. I had a fly-by-night crew install a swamp cooler. It was not wired correctly. Jack fixed that too. Been running perfectly ever since. I trust that Jack will always do the job right. That trust has been proven over and over again. read more

Jack was GREAT! Excel Energy shut off my power on Friday, claiming I needed work done on my meter box, and I would need an inspector to come out before they would turn it back on, which could only be after Labor Day...minimum 4 days without power. I WAS PISSED! I called a few electricians, sent pictures, and got estimates for $2,000 to over $3,000. Jack came to my house on Sunday Labor Day Weekend, explained that I didn't need all that work done, did the repair quickly, called Excel on my behalf, Excel showed up a few hours later and turned my power back on when they told me they would not! What I really appreciate about Jack is his estimate was a whole lot less than the others from the photos I sent, but once he got to my house and assessed the situation he charged me a lot less than the estimate, he was honest and fair. Had to have two new outlets put in - and neither one was in a convenient spot. Jack and his assistant (whose name eludes me - the dangers of having a 2 year old and a 1 month old) came out on a Sunday to do it. Not only that, but they had Cary come out and patch the drywall that they had to open up. All in all, for a rather intense job, I think it took them less than 2 hours total (not counting Cary having to come back once the drywall was dry so he could texture, but that was around our schedule as well). I called jack of custom electric without reading any reviews but found myself in need of an electrician on a Saturday and his company was the first that came up on the list of licensed electricians on yelp. He promptly answered the phone and determined it was a quick easy enough job and stated he could probably have it done after the current job he was at was complete. Perfect! So he kept his promise and came later in the afternoon and was able to diagnose them fix the problem. I was a little surprised at the bill but in all honesty everything costs and honest trustworthy work is worth it to me. Of course time will tell but I have a feeling he is honest and not trying to pull any wool over or anything of the sort. Appreciate the quick response and that he was able to commit and do the job so quickly. I recently had to go through four or five calls to different contractors over a period of time just to get a fence fixed! So I really appreciate when some one shows up when they say will these days.
