James did excellent work at concealing the cable wiring in an upstairs loft. I used the Yelp icon to "Request a Quote" and immediately got responses from 6 of 7 businesses. So Kudos to Yelp for making it seamless to get in touch with contractors! Custom Electric was one of the businesses who reached out within minutes of the request, and also provided a reasonable estimate. Cox Cable Contour recently replaced AT&T Uverse as our cable provider, which means we now have traditional, cable wiring instead of wifi. The service is excellent, but Cox doesn't run wiring through walls. Cox did leave enough cable for a professional electrician to finish the job. James arrived promptly, looked at the job & was done in less than an hour. Instead of splicing the existing cable & adding a connector plate, I asked James to just run the cable directly from its source to maintain a clean, strong signal. I reached out several electricians to install a chandelier and many of them believe it requires scaffolding because there is stairway right under the j-box so there's no place to put ladder. Jonathan responded quickly and suggested scaffolding might not be needed. Then James and Kyle showed up on time and finished the job in a little over an hour with extended ladder. Wanted to share my experience with Custom Electric SD and let everyone know what a fantastic job James and his crew did in my home. I needed everything...new electrical panel, recessed lighting throughout, dimmer switches, new outlets, etc. I requested quotes from the top 3 companies on Yelp and James beat their prices by over a thousand dollars!!! Even at the end of a really long day, when it was discovered that the glass on my medicine cabinet was broken, James offered to get me a new one at the local Home Depot and immediately replace it. Electricians are really busy people so not always easy to get in touch with, and James was no exception. However, once we got in touch with him our project was able to proceed very smoothly. We got an estimate from him a few weeks ago and he brought his team in to do the work the following week at the agreed upon time. James and his team ended up running 3 CAT6 network drops from a 1st floor location to 2nd floor locations. He also installed a recessed light, a ceiling fan, and created 2 new outlets for us. I appreciated his attention to detail during the estimate to check if we were installing a bidet (we were), and then looking up the spec sheet for the bidet together to make sure no dedicated circuits were needed. The team did the work efficiently while taking care to cover walkways and work areas so they were protected from the inevitable debris that results. I was impressed by the quality of their workmanship, from leaving CAT6 service loops in the ceiling to the seamlessness of the drywall repair. I requested a quote to install a new light switch in the bathroom. The original switch was a combo switch/outlet unit to be replaced with a regular toggle switch. I couldn't figure out after multiple tries how to wire everything because there were about 10+ wires in the electrical box. James called me back and I explained to him what I was trying to do. He offered to help me over the phone. I got off the phone with him so I can take some pics of the switch and wires and text it to him before calling him back to continue. He explained to me what I needed to do. I hooked up the light switch using his instructions, turned the electricity back on, and turned on the switch. Bam! First try. It worked.
