Michal Kuron, owner of Custom Exchange Windows, and his two installers do a great job. He measured my windows, answered all my questions, and quickly sent me a good email quote on excellent windows (Simonton, a national brand (rated highly by Consumer Reports) with a factory in Vacaville, CA). The quote was $7,360 for 11 windows (3 are quite wide with 2 sliding sections and a large center pane) and 1 patio door. The quote included installation, cleanup, and taxes. I knew the price was good because I had gotten other quotes, so I quickly accepted his. He told me it would take around 4 weeks for the windows to be manufactured and shipped to him and then he would call me to set up the installation, which could be done in one day. His two installers, lead by Robert, did a great job. Michal told me they don't normally replace the blinds, to allow the sealant around the windows to dry, but I asked Robert and he graciously said he would. I recommend doing that because it may be difficult for some people to put them back up, just don't move them for 24 hours. Michal will sell and install his most economical windows for $329 per window, regardless of size (6 window minimum), a great price. He told me they are "suitable for rental property". His best windows are the Simonton "Daylight Max" (they have narrow frames) and cost about double what the cheap ones do. They have the Best Warranty I have ever seen on any product: Lifetime Parts and Labor INCLUDING accidental breakage. They will even replace damaged screens, but only for the first year. read more

Michael told me that the windows would take three weeks to order, which was typical. They were in fact done in a little over two weeks! I had them replaced/installed windows in my living room area. We had 13 windows and 1 door installed. They've done their work in one day by just two people. They called before coming, and told us what preparation we need. Just one nitpick. For one window they almost forgot to fill in the isolation foam. And for another one, they did forget the sealing caulk. We recently had Custom Exchange replace six windows in our town home. We were attracted to the company by its remarkably high customer ratings, which almost seemed too good to be true. In fact, their work and pricing lived up to the hype. Michael, the owner, gave us a price that was substantially less than the bid we received from a competitor. Michael and other company representatives were punctual. One of the six new windows arrived with a flaw; the installers showed us the defect and asked if we wanted them to go ahead with its installation while waiting for the manufacturer to send a replacement; after installing that window, an installer was out again within a week with the replacement. Of course, only time will tell how good the Simonton windows are and how well Custom Exchange installed them; with that caveat, we have nothing but praise for the company's work and pricing. I was in the market to replace all the windows in my new home. I have two large sliders and 11 other windows in the house. I did some research before looking for starting my contractors search get an idea of what I should be asking when I interview contractors, and window products. I found a lot of reference info on the Internet. It helped. I called 4 contractors to give me bids. Several showed me the same brand and model of window that would work for my place. I was going with a retrofit window because I did not want to have to repair stucco. Also, I wanted a retro window that did not take away too much window space, as retro windows do. We wanted to get new windows installed a few months back and shopped around a bit at home depot, lowes and a couple window specialists, but Custom Exchange's prices were way too good to pass up. Michael helped us through the process from start to finish and always was there to answer questions or provide helpful insights on styles, sizes, etc. It takes a couple weeks to order the windows, but ours came in ahead of schedule and we got them installed a week early, right before the in-laws came to stay for a couple days. Well, it's been almost a year since I got these windows installed and I must say that they are still pretty solid. We open and close the windows pretty frequently and they all still feel new. I was skeptical about keeping the windows closed during the summer to keep the house cool, but it actually worked! I had the ceiling fans on and the windows blocked out a lot of the summer heat. In the winter, it keeps the heat IN, which is great. It's been raining a lot recently, and there has been no leaks or fogging anywhere. He had sample windows with him which I could review. I went with the Simonton Daylight Max windows, and had the whole house (built in late 80s) done, which was 16 windows + the patio door. He didn't outsource his work, but his crew of two came a few weeks later, and installed all the windows in a single day. There was some minor issue w/ a small part of an arch window, but they promptly replaced it as soon as they got the part in a week or so later. Very happy with the windows. Even though they are retrofit windows, the new Daylight Max type seems to keep the bezels (edges thin). Definitely a great investment to our home! read more

I was looking to replace single pane windows in my townhouse. I had four people come out and give me quotes and timelines. Michael was the only one to bring samples (rather than just a brochure) of the windows he was suggesting for my retrofit. He was very through with explaining the project and timelines. He was also very patient as we had to work through my HOA for approvals and such. After putting in the order, the windows showed up about two weeks later and they were installed three weeks after ordering. His crew that did the install were excellent!
