It's not the first time we called L&H--we've used them before when we had issues with our furnace (our furnace is 27 years old but in excellent shape because we keep it well maintained.) We received a call back and were told that they couldn't find parts for a furnace that old and we would need to replace the entire furnace for approximately $5500. That was for a single stage Armstrong furnace. It would be more if we wanted to put in a two-stage furnace like the one we currently have. We called another shop for a second opinion and they came out and found some heater vents that were blocked, pushed a button to reset a circuit breaker on a blower fan (that we bought from L&H about 5 years ago!) and the problem was fixed. Total cost $80. The second repairman recommended we replace a flame sensor because it was slightly loose, but that wasn't a critical problem. He also said parts are readily available and ordered it for us to replace later. This is one of the parts L & H said was no longer available. We received a bill for about $200 from L & H. I called and spoke with them about what had transpired hoping they would (obviously!) waive the bill they sent us. They said they would take $50.00 off the bill and could not explain why they wanted to sell us a $5500 furnace instead of just pushing the circuit breaker button on the blower motor they sold us about 5 years ago. Even more amazing? L&H denied trying to sell us a new furnace. I repeated back the quote they gave us along with the brand name (Armstrong) and they STILL denied ever telling us we needed a new furnace. So, my experience with L & H was they tried to charge us $5500 while their competition charged $80 for the repair. Obviously we don't recommend them and have taken them off our preferred vendor list. Caveat Emptor!

Then the guy in the office Jeremy; was a real jerk he lied to me about when his guys were gonna show up to fix it & he hung up on me twice when called to find out what was taking so long. I do not recommend these people at all. They are rude and don't seem to care about their work. They didn't apologize for being late. Harmonic Heating and Air Conditioning is the BEST!!! Our AC…read moredied and after another company told us that our unit could not be repaired and had to be replaced ($6,000), we contacted Harmonic for a second opinion. Daniel the service technician opened the unit up and tested everything. He took the time to explain what he was doing and why. He discovered a bare wire that had been chewed (possibly by a mouse) and was touching the metal housing which tripped the circuit breaker. Daniel replaced the wire and the unit is working perfectly. The honesty and integrity of this company is refreshing. We will not hesitate to use them again and recommend them to all our friends.

My entire cooling and heating system was left in an inoperable state…read more I called for a diagnostic of the air conditioner today because cool air isn't coming from the vents. I was told the diagnostic would cost $149. I asked to be informed of any repairs that had to be done. Technician checked the system and recommended replacing unit. We discussed replacement unit and cost. I was ready to pay deposit. In the next 10 minutes I was told that the model I selected is old and not available. New model costs $1000 more. I asked for a proposal to decide later. Technician told me that the visit costs $396. He said that he fixed air conditioner that was not working. He never told me that he is fixing anything. Through our the visit it looked like he was figuring out the problem. I talked to the owner and we agreed that any repairs that were done will be undone so that I do not have to pay for repairs. Then the technician removed all the wires from the board making both heat and fan unusable. He did not just undo the "repairs", but made entire system unusable including fan and heat which were working before his visit. See the photos to show what was done!

I did get some quotes from a few companies but decided to use Addit Heating & Air Conditioning. They provided me with some quotes and also mentioned a special rebate that NIPSCO (the utility company in my area) had. None of the other companies mentioned this special rebate. Addit Heating and & Air Conditioning went above and beyond !! I was able to purchase the Seer 16 unit (their price was a bit less than what the other companies I got quotes from offered.) And the Seer 16 is much more energy efficient! The staff at Addit came out and got everything installed. Also they helped me with the rebate form I needed to fill out and submit to get the rebate. I highly recommend Addit Heating & Air Conditioning !!

My furnace still needs work because it wasn't installed properly causing condensation to form inside. My service technician was knowledgeable and noted the problems.
