I can't say enough good things about Olivia. I moved from Chicago to Los Angeles about 6 months ago and I was really heartbroken about leaving my stylist. I can be hard to deal with because I am an actor so I need to keep my hair close to matching my headshots and stay employable but I am also old school punk and I always crave having hair that is bright crayon color. On top of all of that I am super anxious about going to new stylists because I have had several bad experiences. Olivia was so patient with me. She took the time to talk to me about several options to keep my cut clean and growing as well as color options to keep me "normal" enough to be cast and "fun" enough to make me happy. She took her time in meticulously layering in beautiful color so I have some amazing and fun highlights without the color being too over the top for casting directors. I was lucky to have Sonia cut my hair and I knew right away that I'd get a good haircut. Her confidence and dexterity showed me that she was a gal with a lot of experience. She really looked at my features and told me exactly how she would layer my hair. Here's a stylist who enjoys her work--a real artist. Once again they let go of my stylist! They didn't even call me to reschedule because they said they didn't have my number. I found this salon on Yelp because I was looking for a place that would cut my hair so I could donate it. I was very hesitant at first because I was going for a dramatic change and have never been here before, but I took the chance and was very happy with the results. My stylist was Natalie. She was very friendly and patient and really took her time to cut my hair to meet donation requirements (and Olivia, another stylist, was also very helpful). We discussed the cut I was going for in great detail and she definitely surpassed my expectations all around. She finished off my cut with a great blowdry and style and I've been getting nothing but compliments since. I came here for my first ever "blowout", where I would pay for a hairstyle that I was under the impression would last for days. Mine lasted 3 hours. I was a walk in, and while I was happy to be paired up with a hairdresser so quickly, I should have just let it go. First of all, $45 sounded similar to other salons. I decided to go with it. It went downhill from here. My shampoo was about 60 seconds and chilly for half of it. Ok, not that big of a deal. At the end of the hairstyle, my hair was flat as can be on my head. Then I realized she basically had no technique drying it, no thickening spray, no round brush to help with volume, just running the hair dryer over it. The real kicker- I should have ran then, when discussing price for my hair another hairdresser asked mine how long do you think it will take you? Mine says, I don't do curls that often, I don't know, about an hour? Then the curling iron came. I assume the blowout took so long and didn't last partially in part from the ancient curling wands used. Then I was burned three times. The whole experience was just a mess and I wish if someone wasn't up to date on their skills, a customer wouldn't have to pay full price for it! I've been coming to this place often for years now and it's been great. I've had my hair cut by every single person that works here and all of them are considerate of how you want your hair cut and are patient when your un sure if you want to go shorter or not. I've never had a problem with there work and if I have it was my fault. There prices are fair and the wait time is almost non existent, I've never waited more than 20 mins without an appointment and even if you come in 10 minutes before closing they still greet you with a smile and are happy to cut your hair with patience and in a professional manner. Shannon is great and did a wonderful job cutting my daughter's hair. She definitely deserves 5 stars. However, I didn't give the service 5 stars because there are extra fees for everything. Ask how much something costs before you agree to anything, like letting them blow dry your hair or using a flat iron after getting a haircut. Other places include it after a haircut, don't assume they do as well. That costs more than the haircut itself. Tip: check in on Yelp and use the $2 off haircut coupon. Bring cash.
