I made an appointment online for a vegan gel manicure on a Saturday morning. The website was easy to book and I received a confirmation email once my reservation was excepted. Upon arrival I saw their cute store front and was able to find free street parking nearby. I entered for my appointment and was immediately greeted by one of the hairstylists and by Janice who did my nails. She let me choose from a library of colors and I decided to do a shade that I had not tried before. Janice did a great job with attention to detail, fun conversation, and an overall great end result. I'm so happy with how they turned out! This is my first time coming here so I will have to wait and see how long the gel manicure last but I will definitely be back! -- Since my first review I've been back a few more times for manicures and pedicures and I've always had a great experience! Been meaning to leave a review for Handcraft and Hart since my last visit and finally getting around to it after my second visit! My first visit I got a hair cut with Russ and he talked to me about my hair and I showed him a photo of what I wanted. It was so nice to actually have someone tell me why my hair was doing what it was doing. Russ explained that for me to get my hair the way I wanted it to look would be a process but that he would cut it so that it would move towards that direction. The day after the cut I was styling it and could totally see that the way he had cut it was going to gradually get me to the style I wanted! Today, I went in for a partial balayage color and I love it. It's warm and perfect for the summer. You never feel rushed and Russ is so great to spend time with! I have been happy with each haircut he has done over the past four years and I always walk out of LaBonté Hart Salon feeling amazing. I have a few friends who get their haircut by Erica and I have only heard great things about her. COVID-19: LaBonté Hart Salon takes in only client at a time. Hair stylists wear a face mask and a face shield for the duration of the appointment. The salon is clean, seating and equipment are sanitized regularly and the salon has an extraction ventilation system as well. 2.5 stars but I'm rounding up bc Janis is such a sweetheart but I'm so disappointed with my nails I could cry. I had gels done for a destination wedding I was attending. Normally I don't get manicures much less gels but being that I was a bridesmaid I wanted to make sure my nails were going to last all thru the wedding activities and personal excursions. Well, within 2 days my pinkie and ring fingers on my right hand were lifting. As much as I tried to deal I couldn't handle the constant snags on my hair, plus they lifted so much it looked really ugly so off they came. Long story short, as the week progressed, more gels lifted. My entire manicure was GONE in less than a week. Money down the drain. I had a pedicure done with regular polish on my toes and it's still intact despite several trips to the beach and constant, almost daily, flip-flop wearing. I don't get it. I did enjoy my pedicure and so did my boyfriend (he got one too) but yeah the manicure left a lot to be desired and was a complete waste of time and money. The salon itself is cute and small. It's located on eagle rock blvd so lots of street parking. Janis is the only nail tech in the salon but you can book appointments online. No walk-ins. read more

I feel so lucky to have found Erica to cut and color my hair. She is fantastic. I finally feel as though I've found someone who understands my hair! I don't blow dry it, but prefer to let it dry naturally and enhance my natural curl. Erica totally gets this! I've received more compliments in the last two years that she has been cutting my hair than in the last 20 years, when I was getting mediocre hair cuts elsewhere. What's more, Erica has such a warm and pleasant energy. I actually feel as though my two hours with her is downtime! I'm looking forward to seeing her again soon. read more

I am new to the neighborhood and lucked out by finding this super cute salon just a 10 minute walk away. The space is modern, minimal and bright. I live the pops of yellow. I got a full balayage from Erica and the results were just gorgeous. The process took several hours but the time flew by because Erica is such a great conversationalist. I've been to countless salons where the stylist barely talks to you and it's just an awkward experience but that's not the case here. She was even so kind as to trim up my bangs and my hair to show off the highlights better. The price can not be beat for the level of service you get here. It's a big deal finding a good hairstylist when you move to a new town. I moved here in November and have had 2 bad haircuts, from 2 different stylists, since then. Three's a charm they say! Erica was wonderful, and the salon is just my speed. Quiet and simple, well-styled, lovely. No chemical smells in here, which I really appreciate! It will take a few haircuts to recover the cut I used to have, as one of previous people cut way too much off and now it needs time to grow. I am happy with Erica's first cut of my hair, and I feel confident in continuing to work with her. She "got" my hair and was really cool about me being picky with what I wanted for this cut. Not everyone appreciates someone knowing exactly what they want! I'll definitely be back. FYI they offer non-toxic manis/pedis too! Easy street parking right out front. Great prices. read more

This salon is rested within the small city of Eaglerock. With it's Canary Yellow store front and potted plants inside the salon, it was a really cozy atmosphere. I have waited patiently to be booked since August, but they kindly explained that there was a fault in their voicemail system so I highly suggest that you book online or walk-in to have an appointment set. But don't you worry! Russell did mention that they were going to fix it stat! I came in to this salon with my heavily bleached hair and my roots popping out. i know right? The horror! I didn't want to damage my hair any further so I consulted with Russell on what would be ideal for my hair, he gave me options and for once, someone had taken the time to actually explain to me the process. Not just slap some chemicals onto my hair and say BOOYAH! You're a blonde now! I had a really fun time in this salon! I was able to converse with Janis too, and I met Erica. They are all so sweet! But my favorite part was meeting Big Red! Omg! He is such a sweetie pie! I do admit I was holding him for the majority of the time I was there! What can I say? I love animals! (Gizmo our Maltipoo was sniffing me all over when I got home lol) I love love LOVE how my hair turned out! I can tell that he took his time to do his magic on my hair and I appreciate the fact that he actually explain what he was doing. The transition of color from my roots to the bleached parts of my hair was not harsh anymore! And my hair looked more healthy! I came in with a sort of vague idea of wanting pop art-y Mickey Mouse nails for my vacation to Disneyworld, and the artwork she did was next level. Very impressive! Janis is the bomb dot com. The salon is super stylish and I love that she uses vegan gel and doesn't do acrylics, so it doesn't have that harsh chemical smell. She did a great job with a super cool design for New Year's for me, and a sweet manicure for my daughter as well. We felt pampered and I didn't feel the need to mask my kid at the salon! Alex has been cutting my hair since 2011 when we both lived in San Francisco and I'm so happy we both live in the same area again so she can do her magic on me! I've had bangs for nearly 15 years, so I'm very picky about how they're cut, and let me tell you Alex knows what's up in that department! The very first time she cut them, and the rest of my hair, back in SF I had 3 guys ask me for my # walking back to my apartment! Not a joke. Nothing's changed and she's still doing an amazing job making me feel confident and happy. Outside of her styling skills, Alex is simply put just a solid, genuine, sweet and caring person who you'd want to talk to while getting your hair did. I'm so glad I found this caring, organic place! I was in getting my hair styled with Alex because I was going to be meeting my boyfriend's fam for the first time, but out of time and money. I've been wanting to write this review for a while.. Let me first start with the salon, it is very beautiful with a cute/rustic decor. Russell is very professional, patient, and all at the same time creates a comfortable atmosphere. I got a balayage from him years ago which came out perfect. However, I stopped dying my hair to let it become long. I made the BIGGEST mistake by going to another salon down the street from my house. My hair turned red! ~And~ they tried to "correct" it. I cut my losses and feared my long hair would ultimately fall out. I messaged Russell all about what happened to my hair and he intently listened. I wanted my hair inbetween a very light brown to sandy blonde.. Yet, all at the same time I didn't want to fry my long hair. I'm half Asian so lifting my dark brown hair is a challenge, especially since it does lift all at the same time.. Russell COMPLETELY corrected my hair and it's still strong! He lightened my base, gave me some highlights, and some other things.. I'm not sure exactly what, but he knows what he is doing and I fully trust my hair in his hands. Just ask and he will swiftly execute it. As I've mentioned before he is very patient, careful, and a mixologist for color. When he wove in my highlights, he took the tiniest strands of hair to give me the natural look I wanted. Boom, golden brown/blonde hair without dunking my entire head in dye. I love Russell, I will never stray away from him again- where he goes I will always follow. The price is right and completely-utterly worth it. I have a love affair with my hair now.. It's been a few months since then and the color/length is gorgeous!!!!! read more

This salon is the best location I have ever been too! It's very cute and the stylist Erica really took her time in educating me about my hair. I had really damaged bleached hair from the previous stylist to the point where I saw my hair fall off as it was blow dried! So I came here to go a darker tone and slowly work my way to my natural hair color and have a smoother grow out. The results has me loving this color and will definitely stick to this. Erica really took her time in understanding what I wanted because to be honest I can be very careless with my hair. I would just rely on the past stylists to do what they think would be best, but Erica really tried to understand and work with me to get me to where I wanted. Now my hair feels so smooth and doesn't feel so stiff and damaged! She worked miracles, added a complimentary trim to remove dead ends, and now my hair finally has its bounce again plus dimensions! Amazing! I was on the brink of moving suddenly out of LA in April back to the UK and was extremely worried about my hair color and the time it may take until I could see a hairdresser again...my normal hairdresser of 9 years wasn't available in LA and with a limited number of days remaining plus lockdown I didn't know what I was going to do. A friend suggested I contact her hairdresser-Russ-and so I sent him a frantic message late on a Wed eve and he replied and offered me a consultation via FaceTime for the next morning. As I sat in my Prius showing him my roots via my phone, he looked at images of me online and then sent over a bunch of dye and instructions on how to do it myself. I flew back to Europe and when it came down to tackling my hair, which had entailed roping my mother in, I had a million questions for Russ, as I am essentially not very good with doing hair things and had never ever dyed my own hair...Russ was incredible, very patient and responded both in emails and via a Zoom call. I can happily report that my mother and I survived the hair dying and my hair looks amazing, which considering I haven't had a haircut since January is no mean feat. So thank you Russ so much for your attention to detail, your kindness and your expertise in choosing via facetime the perfect color for my head. Such a lovely experience at this salon. They were able to squeeze my appointment in last minute, Janis was so lovely and very detail oriented. It took about two hours for a pedicure and gel manicure. I chose this salon because they carry all vegan products, and a lot of their lotions/oils are made in house (they're amazing!) Having the pup Big Red there is also a plus of course too! I started getting my hair cut with Russ this year and I just can't gush enough. Every single cut and color has been amazing. He's crazy talented! I always bring in a picture (or several) of what I want because some hair stylists need that specific vision to go off of. I really don't even need to bring any pictures because Russ just gets it. He has the talent and vision to work with your face shape, hair texture, hair color to really get your hair in the best shape possible. Salon is intimate and bright. They just added two nail techs, which is an added plus! I had a pedicure with Janice while my color processed and it really just completes the Handcraft and Hart experience.
