Our insurance package has some weird deal with CVS where we're supposed to get extra discounts if we take our prescriptions there. Sadly, the pharmacy here is so poorly run that the wait is literally not worth the discount. I normally can't stand to go to the hoopty Rite Aid in Corte Madera, most especially because the shopping mall parking lot spaces are too small, even for a Prius, and finding parking is a pain. However, it's well worth the extra 5-10 minutes of space-hunting at the Rite Aid lot than the 45 minutes spent holding my very sick son in my arms trying to prevent him from boogifying the rest of the store at CVS. The employees seem nice enough, the place is well stocked, but I just can't be bothered. This was my second trip to pick up a prescription at this pharmacy. In both situations, it should have taken no longer than 15 minutes and in both situations it took nearly an hour. Adding to the aggravation, there's this general "line confusion" at the pharmacy registers. They have this wall of registers which are loosely labeled as "drop off," "consultation" and "pick-up." After you drop off your prescription, you're told that it'll be ready in X amount of time and that your name will be called... There's a waiting area (a few chairs in a corner), but people are also always, any time of day or night, standing in a line that ranges from 2 - 10+ deep for the "pick up" line. Thus, if you do sit down, or continue shopping and swing back when you hear your name called, you are doubling your waiting time because you'll have to wait in the slow-as-molasses "pick up" line. I used to have Kaiser, and they had this system down -- you did your drop off and were given a number. They had a big lighted sign that would display all the numbers which were ready for pickup and all the ones that were being serviced, but weren't ready yet. This eliminated the need to stand in line just to see if your stuff was ready. The line situation is made even worse at CVS because if someone has waited in line, gotten to the front and discovered their stuff wasn't ready yet, they're told to skip the line when they hear their name called. This is totally fair, but the problem is that this leads to what looks like random interlopers wandering up to the register, cutting the line. Most of these "interlopers" really are legitimately supposed to skip the line, but the folks in line don't know that and it leads to aggravation. Also, it makes it really tough when you think you've finally survived your 25 minute wait in line holding a crying toddler, thinking you're "next," only to be "skipped" to serve two people who were short-changed earlier. Get my drift? Like I said, it's just not worth the discount for me, especially when you factor in the value of my time. On the up side, I don't know of that many places that are 24 hour stores in Marin, so this CVS (formerly Long's) gets two stars for that - it serves the community's needs for any time day or night supplies. read more

Has the basics of everything you need. Alcohol, meds and seasonal novelties are their retail strength. About 30% of the store is useless junk that ends up on clearance. Usual coupon-dependent sales, so you'll find an interesting diversity of people shopping here on Sundays only buying coupon items. If anything, what stands out are its services -- mailing, copying, faxing, photo developing and pharmacy...pharmacy is always backed up but pharmacist and assistants are nice. read more

1.5 stars across 200 reviews says it all. They never pick up the phone, take 3-4 days to fill prescriptions, and always have lines. The sad thing is that they're probably successful financially as they're located in a rich area and one of the few options in town. SO people just accept the por service. Just the worst. There are some very nice people in the pharmacy, but it sometimes feels like they are there against their will. I get that working the pharmacy is probably a nightmare at times, but that place is a happiness vacuum. The (manager?) that greets customers at the door seems like a poor fit for that particular duty. Maybe more of an operational guy? Front of house doesn't seem to be his wheelhouse, as his greetings are mumbled and forced. Picked up a rx today, and as I was transferring some pills into a purse pill box, there appeared to be fewer than the quantity listed. I counted them, and had 15 instead of 30. I called the pharmacy and was told there was no way a mistake had been made. No way. One more reason to switch and go elsewhere. read more

One star is extremely generous based on more than one experience I've had at this store, particularly in regards to the night manager. After discovering here that numerous other people have had the same experience, I'm struggling to see how this heinous individual is still employed. Tonight I went in to purchase a pack of cider and apparently this man has decided that anybody with an ID issued outside of California is to be denied service. I was at this same store just a few hours earlier and bought beer with no questions asked. When I asked politely for an explanation of this policy, he grabbed the ciders and ran away to hide from me with zero acknowledgement. This is not the first time this guy has been extremely rude to me for no reason. He is quite obviously a very sad man on a laughable power trip. So tonight I witnessed the biggest bullshit situation by this pharmacy. A lady from out of town got up at 5 am to come and get the fax # for the pharmacy to call it in to her doctor in Michigan and have her script filled. They REFUSED?! What would she do with their fax number? Send dirty photos? Come on your jerks this was wrong! But it gets even worse! After this poor lady left in tears I witnessed an employee GIVE another customer the VERY FAX #! Now I call total bullshit on this crap. Yes, it's a 1 star for me just like the previous customers threading and trending here. I went here for the first time, and the cashier just rung up and said it's $139. I was taken aback and told him I have insurance. Then I was told they would enter the information into the system and wait. I waited for 40 minutes, and no one has bothered to say to me that it was ready. When I left with my prescription, no one even told me what my prescription was. Other pharmacies usually remind you for the directions and what to watch out for. But here, it's just a drop-off and pick-up. On top of that, my doctor prescribed three medications, and they only prepared two. I have to go back again and get it. Yes, the pharmacist forgot. It's disorganized. I would suggest management should intervene and look for process improvement. read more

Do not support this pharmacy. I have tried to call them to speak to a pharmacist for the last two days. I've spent a total of 8 hours on hold to speak to a pharmacist. No one ever answered. When I called the front of the store to get someone to get a pharmacist to speak to me I was cut off. I am injured and not mobile right now so I really needed to speak to them and never got through. This is a disgrace. They must see someone on hold for an hour. They just don't care. Do not give them your business. read more

Very difficult to gauge the best time to pick up RX without waiting in long lines. Very slow. Tried the night shift but they only have one person working. Not sure why they can't figure out how to handle the volume. The good news is that they have many of the meds I need in stock, unlike other pharmacies in the area. Just long lines for pick up. The manager really went out of his way for me. I had called earlier to see if they had a specific item in store. The employee said he would put one on hold for me. I got to Cvs and it wasn't anywhere to be found. The manager hunted searched high and low . We hunted the store. Finally he asked another employee and showed her the photo of the item in question. She found it and showed us where they are in the store. Not a place one would think. She was helpful and Jose is great too. He's the manager I think. Anyway the other employee who answered the phone didn't put the item on hold but at least Jose and the gal helped me find it. Hooray! read more

Wait times are ridiculous. Tried 4 times this week at a range of hours. Always 8-10 deep with slow movement. Stage are nice however they need to reassess their staffing and adjust based on the current client volume. The amount of revenue for pharmaceuticals is obscene so the least they can do is focus on customer convenience. Having seniors stand in line for 20-30 minutes only to be told the Rx is not ready. never felt like i needed to write a yelp review for such bad customer service... BUT the other day i stopped into this CVS around 1:30 am because I felt like I might be coming down with something and wanted some immune supplements. I wasn't sure exactly what I was going to buy yet because I was searching things on my phone and comparing their prices and whatnot. A little after I walk in one of the workers yells across the store "DO YOU NEED ANY HELP?" I respond that I'm fine and continue browsing the aisles. About a minute later, he comes over to me and starts pressing me again on if I need help. When I tell him I'm fine and not sure what I want, he starts getting SUPER agro, demanding me to tell me what I'm looking for. When I keep telling him I'm not sure yet he starts raising his voice saying things like "you're acting really WEIRD" and "are you on DRUGS?!" I didn't know what to say; the whole interaction was very surprising to me. I ask if it matters if he know what I'm looking for and he goes "uh, YEAH, cuz I'm the BOSS AROUND HERE" After he walks away in a huff, I choose my supplement and go to the front. However, no one is there because he has left the store to talk to another employee about me. It looked like he might've been trying to call the cops. I finally get his attention and he comes to the register. He will barely talk to me or look at me the entire transaction. So heads up if you come here at night and don't need help you may be accused of being on drugs. SIR you work in a drug store and people might be buying personal items and be uncomfortable asking. I wasn't buying anything personal but this interaction made me unbelievably uncomfortable and I won't be going back to this store. read more

The store itself is pretty run of the mill, not too shabby and miles better than the level of hell that is the San Rafael Walgreens. That being said, I must agree with other reviewers as far as the staff go. I would feel sorry for how grim and miserable the checkers are except for the fact that they're full of rage. Terrible combo- incompetent and furious. I also saw a checker go off on a customer, although the customer flipped out and yelled right back. After years of going to cvs pharmacy and saying I'm done with the place I'm finally am moving my prescriptions and never stepping foot again in the place. I made an online appointment for a flu shot at 6:15 pm and when I arrived I was informed that they don't do them after 5:00 pm. When I asked them why do they schedule them knowing they don't do them they said that it was CVS and not them. After informing him that he was CVS he looked at me like "oh yeah". Insane and after years of poor service, standing in line forever because they have next to no people to help I'm done. Compared to the days when this used to be Longs Drugs--this pharmacy is a disaster. Part of the problem is apparently corporate (i.e. the CVS way), part of it is the constant rotation of staff (ie., don't get chummy with any as they'll disappear soon enough), some of it is they don't have enough staff (i.e, the CVS way) and some of it is just incompetence--not sure what else to call it when your order the same prescription three times (online and by phone) plus called my Dr. twice--still can't do it. If my life depending on this pharmacy, I'd be dead. Seriously. Stay away if you can. read more

I went to pick up an RX yesterday and there were 12 people in line so I decided I would call and have it delivered. I called and was put on hold for 4 HOURS AND 35 minutes before someone hung up. When I went in this morning to pick it up, I said to the pharmacy person that I thought something was wrong with their telephone system. She said no, they are just short staffed. She also said today she didn't have time to answer any phones! read more

The service is slow, especially at the pharmacy. I don't think I've ever walked in and not seen a line. The people working there are friendly but because of the long lines and slow service, it detracts from the overall customer service. I try to avoid going here if I can however, it's open 24 hours so picking up a little thing here and there can be convenient especially later at night. read more

This place is always awful pharmacy wise. The people who work there are potentially overworked, so i feel bad for that. But they are also rude and forgetful and give incorrect information. They are often days behind on prescriptions even when you call it in ahead and adjust for what is ALWAYS a delay, it still doesn't work out. I wish it wasn't right across the street from me, so I could go elsewhere! My partner and I always draw straws for who has to be the one to go to the pharmacy and deal with them each time. I was warned that the CVS pharmacy at Bon Air is a mess, but ended up going there anyway because it's the closest pharmacy with extended hours. Every time I have been to this pharmacy (unless it's 7am), there is a very long line and it moves slowly. You can expect to wait around 15 minutes just to get to the front of the line. Then, you will be told that your prescription has not yet been filled, but that they will note that you are waiting. You will then wait at least 20-30 minutes for your prescription to be filled. On one occasion, I was told the wait was three hours. In addition, if you call the pharmacy, they do not pick up the phone. Ever. This pharmacy is extremely understaffed, and it shows. On the bright side, staff is friendly and tries their best to deal with the chaos. You will actually save yourself time and frustration by driving to San Rafael to the Walgreen's pharmacy there. read more

I've never been to an establishment with such low integrity. The owners and cvs as a franchise should be ashamed and embarrassed. There are products here marked up 10x the original cost. Went in after a doctors appointment at Marin general. I was looking for a personal lubricant so my pregnant wife could take some prescribed suppositorys. (Doctor recommended Astro glide) Found the smallest bottle they offered (4oz) and proceeded to the register. That was my only purchase that day and was surprised when the clerk asked for $34 and some change. I commented that I never realized that stuff was so expensive but if the demand is there then I suppose I understand. After I paid went home and googled the same product. $3.65 everywhere. I since have seen the same product at various stores all for the same price $3.65. How can a company price gouge like this and it be acceptable. I was ignorant on the going rate and paid the price... The Pharmacist embarrassed me, and broke HIPAA laws. I was humiliated. I waited patiently for an hour after I dropped off my prescription. Stephen, the pharmacist, from 20' away shouted questions at me about my prescription. I didn't want to answer his inappropriate questions in front of the four people in line, so I told the pharacist that I needed to hurry things up because I needed my medicine urgently, he then informed me that I should "plan three days ahead" so that "I wouldn't be in this situation". He was telling me to manage my time better, after I had politely and patiently waited for over an hour to fill a prescription. read more
