Heroes!!! The clinic I go to messed up my monthly prescription and the staff here worked divinely so I did not have to return. Super professional, friendly, caring and efficient. I wish management actually hired more staff so they were not so overwhelmed. Given the sheer number of patients they work with and having such a perpetual limited staff, it is amazing that the employees here continue to rise above. So glad I changed pharmacies. Not all Walgreens are made the same ! Real talk. Entire sections are sometimes empty and the inventory feels scarce and not stocked up! Staff is very friendly but I think there is a shortage most times especially at the pharmacy as they are long lines. I have heard people complain several times that the pharmacy closed early and they missed picking up their prescription They do have a decent magazine section and food frozen item section. They also have photo electronics. Location is central however it's still a paid parking lot on most days! read more

These days, the lines are long, the drive-thru is closed due to short staff or malfunctions, etc. We must be patient, and thank these essential workers for coming to work. Tell them you appreciate them. Just think of it as DMV, you're at their mercy. If you act a fool, you will like a fool cuz they'll just walk away and not help you. This is my second review of Walgreens on Thurd Street in San Rafael, CA. I always feel like a queen queen or something when I go to Walgreen's! Yes,sometimes the pharmacy lines can be quite long but thee are definitely windows of time where there might be only one or two people in front of you. Esrly evening sermsbto benine if thrm- try doing after the commute hours when people get up from work! Go a little bit later planner unusually there will only be one or two people in front of you if at all . The staff is very kind and they work very quickly and I've never had any errors or anything wrong with the prescriptions. I do agree with another reviewer who mentioned the plethora of toys on the floor and the very messy toy shelves! It would certainly look better if things were kept more organized, but really these things aren't that important. What's really important is that you receive the correct prescription and that you are treated well - which is exactly what happens at the Walgreens on T Street in San Rafael! I am very very happy with the care and attention that I receive at that pharmacy. I would like to mention that most pharmacies are critically understaffed, so it must be hard to keep all those toys neat and organized!! read more

Came to the store to buy medicine for my mother for her ear because she was in a lot of pain. Got home a realized the bottle was empty came back to the store and 4 minutes before 10pm for a quick exchange and they closed the door on me and denied the help. Based on being the only Walgreens available in San Rafael management should take action on this people closing doors before closing time. From the cramped parking lot, the drug addicts loitering at the door front to the 45 minute wait to drop off a prescription, there isn't a facet of this Walgreens that is acceptable. We've had prescriptions filled incorrectly with the wrong dosage and recently have seen more and more issues with their data input. On numerous occasions, i have tried to get through on their phone, waited hours on hold only to be disconnected when finally reaching someone. And no, I do not want to be upsold a covid booster. I tried to special order a product based on information from the manufacturer who said you can get this overnight through any of their listed pharmacies. The Walgreen's associate said he would add (for my $66 special order) a transportation charge of $500. I asked him if he charged other special orders like that and he then quoted me $75 for the purchase. I agreed even knowing there should be no charge. Well guess what? They never placed the order and when I called a week later to inquire, the manager yelled at me becuase, well, they're BUSY due to blah blah blah. And then hung up on me. This Walgreens is the absolute threshold of hell. I would rather look for parking in the Montecito shopping center during lunch hour for a year. I honestly cannot think of a worse place in Marin county than this offensively pathetic shit hole. The parking lot is full, and when you're lucky enough to find a spot you have to pay a meter. Then as you walk in you're greeted by Slum Rafael's finest tweakers asking for change. Once inside it's your average Walgreens with cluttered shelves, crap on the floor, and various villagers from Tatooine grocery shopping. Once you make it to the pharmacy you're faced with a pile of people that look like they were dragged off the battle grounds of Gettysburg; which by my calculations is how long they've been waiting for the epically incompetent staff to get them their medications. Oh, but it's not over. You get to stand in line for at least 30 minutes before getting to the window and learning that the half wits failed to fill your prescription...even though you were texted and called TWICE!!!! Terrible experience here. I told them I needed my prescription transferred because the other pharmacy I go to closes before I get off work. I told them when the pharmacy closes and when I get off work. They insisted they'd have it that day. Well, they didn't. They claimed they never received the fax my other pharmacy sent to transfer the medication and that "by the time we called them back, they'd already closed." Yeah, I told you what time they were closing for exactly that reason. It defeated the entire purpose of transferring it in the first place. Well I called them midday next day (today) after already going multiple days without my medication. Still they say they don't have it and have made no attempt to acquire my prescription, either. If I hadn't called again, they never would have. My other pharmacy said they sent it out already. I told them to call my other pharmacy again to get it. I call an hour later and they tell me it's ready. They say "we called you multiple times yesterday and were surprised we didn't see you. It's been here waiting for you." They did not call me (I'm also enrolled in text alerts and they did not send me one last night or today) and I literally went in last night and they didn't have it as stated above. I told her this and she said "well I guess I don't really know. I was off by then." Um okay? Why would you say that, then? These guys need to get their shit together. A pharmacy transfer should not be this convoluted of a process. I was going to leave 3 stars but compared to CVS this place is the best thing in the whole word so we're going with 4. I'm docking a star for the types of people that hang around outside this store. I have to deal with the homeless/drug addict problem myself daily and every time I come here there's some sketchy folks floating around. Anyway, the people that work here are pretty friendly and know where things are. I like to find what I'm looking for on my own but it's nice to know if you are in a hurry or just can't find what you really need, someone helpful is nearby! Typically the checkout times are pretty quick, and I've never experienced the rudeness from the cashiers a couple other people here mentioned. Prices are generally better than CVS. Sure, the internet has some things cheaper, but if you need it NOW, Walgreens is definitely a better choice than the competition. read more

TLDR: The manager of the Walgreens destroyed my priceless photos (physical memories) that I can never get back. I had my film developed at Walgreens and I can tell you that I will never be doing that again. I got a disposable film camera for my final 27 days of college (27 exposures), so that I could take a photo every day. I had photos of amazing moments with my friends, photos with acquaintances I may never see again, and other fun memories of my final weeks in college. I dropped off my camera at Walgreens to get the photos developed. Today I picked up my photos and they were awful. This is probably the 10th disposable camera I've had before and I've never had them turn out like this. Yes I'll have some occasional light leaks and dark pics or overexposed ones, I know those are my fault and I know how film works. These pictures I received from Walgreens were clearly scanned horribly and rushed. The color was shifted and double exposed and I looked up what could have gone wrong (I blamed myself first) but it was the result of a TERRIBLE scanning job. I called Walgreens customer service to see if I could get my negatives back and they said to call the store I got it from. So I was directed back to this store and the manager said there's no way I can get the negatives back but he could give me a refund. I go back for my refund, I hand him my photos to scan the receipt that's on the photo packet, and he takes them to the back. Then he comes back and gives me my refund. Then after I ask him for my photos so I could at least keep my terrible ones because I can vaguely make out the pictures and I still can keep those memories. The manager (balding, older, reeks of cigarettes, skinny legs, wearing a tattered black t shirt and jeans) bluntly tells me he shredded them. My pictures. He just sent through a shredder. He seemed to enjoy that he ruined my day too even though I'd been nothing but polite to him. So Walgreens, please fire this sadistic A-hole who destroyed something I can never repurchase or reproduce. I am beyond upset and no refund could amount to how much those memories meant to me. The manager also seemed to never actually be doing work and kinda wandering around and hiding from customers, so the young man at the counter had to keep calling him to help the customers. Oh and by the way, the young man at the counter was the sweetest, most empathetic and understanding and wonderful gentleman I've ever seen work at this Walgreens. He actually looked concerned about my problem and wanted to help. Bless that young man, hope he's being treated okay by his manager because I cannot imagine that manager being a nice to anyone. read more

I always hate coming here, but it's the closest store to my job so I visit a LOT... maybe 4 or 5 times a week. The reasons I hate this particular Walgreens is because the majority of people who work here are rude. This store is also rarely stocked, so when there are things on the shelves I'm actually surprised. The old man who works here has never really been nice. He has answered his personal cellphone while checking me out before. Today he scanned an Arizona tea twice. Before I paid I told him that I think he scanned it twice because the screen was showing me that there were 2 Arizonas @ 0.99, plus they charged me the redemption value twice. He said, "Nope, that's your total." I looked at my receipt as I walked out and sure as shit, he charged me twice. It's a dollar and some change, so it wasn't worth going back to get it, but it was the brashness and carelessness that annoyed me. The last time the cashier didn't give me back proper change ($5 short because apparently nobody can count here...?) , I had to wait for the next person to check out, so I wasn't about to wait around again for a dollar. I manage a salon, so maybe my customer service expectations are too high, but everytime I come here I see it gets worse. If you're going to over charge me, at least be nice about it. read more

FIVE STARS to the Pharmacy Department today. They are whom this is really about. Bravo MELANIE and YUMI at Walgreens 3rd Street, San Rafael. I read in an ad that military veterans could come to Walgreens to get a FREE FLU SHOT. It seems they are partners with the VA in this. That alone saved me a nearly 2 hour roundtrip drive time to get to the VA. I love that they were a 5 minute drive from where I live. While there I was waited on by Melanie, a very pleasant Pharm Tech. We ran into a computer problem with my VA acct. My first and middle names were in reverse between my drivers license and my VA ID. The computer would just not accept it. Well, Melanie stuck with me. She figured out how to make this happen. This professional intelligent young lady made me fell relaxed and got the job done. Great problem solving. Then, Yumi the pharmacist I think her name was gave me the shot. And that too was pleasant and painless. Yay team. TY for everything. Side note to WALGREENS CORPORATE: it is a wonderful thing that you are working with the VA to get out free shots to documented Veterans with a valid VA ID. I am a Vietnam Veteran. However - - - I am also a senior citizen. I was not allowed to get a free senior shot without a $65 payment. There can't be that many given that it would be excluded from this program. I suggest you reevaluate this for our senior Vets. As we age we are your biggest paying customers base with the pharmacy. We served our country, and we are choosing your business as our go to place. I am in there often, and a good customer. Just thinking out loud, you might want to make senior flu shots an option for veterans. We have a higher probability of complications without getting the correct immunization. It was busy when I arrived, and the lines moved quickly. Stopped off the freeway for a kid with a bathroom emergency and couldn't find a restroom, not even at the gas station. Stopped here and there's a big blue restroom sign but the manager, Sal, refused to let my daughter use the restroom. We offered to buy stuff if it was customers only but he said no because people trash it so they had to make the rule and can't make an exception, even for a kid, or he'll have to let everyone (not true, check the definition of exception, Sal). She was crying and starting to pee her pants but he didn't care. An English gentleman said we have police everywhere but no toilets and no humanity so he took us down the street to use his restroom and to clean up the totally unnecessary and preventable accident. Avoid, avoid, avoid. This Walgreens has always been bad with one exception: the professionalism and thoroughness of the pharmacy staff as I breezed through their drive through in 3-15 minutes. The store itself is full of rude staff and is precisely where I'd go if I wanted to get a communicable disease. I'm not sure what has happened to the pharmacy. I'd ask if I could actually talk with someone there, which I can't. They've closed the drive through. A sign said they were too understaffed, then a new sign said that both lanes are having technical difficulties. I've tried to go in an pick up my prescription multiple times despite my aversion to being in a line or spending a long time indoors with coughing strangers, but the line has been incredible. I've been without two prescription refills for weeks now And I'm leaving town today (Saturday), so I decided to bite the bullet and go in 5 minutes before the pharmacy even opened. Hands down the worse pharmacy on this planet!! They are slow, rude, and 3/5 people that work in the pharmacy are far from intelligent. They lie all the time saying my doctor didn't send things in or that they didn't get permission from my doctor to be able to get my medication early because I'll be out of town. Honestly not sure how they are still in business. It's concerning that they have the ability to dispense people's medications that their lives depend on. I am appalled. I come here every once and a while when I need something really quick. Yes there are homeless people out and inside of the store, but for the most part they haven't bothered me... the staff on the other had left bad taste in my mouth. Usually they are pretty quiet, cause they are just doing their job. But this one lady took the cake. She was so rude to my little sister... who kindly asked if she could help her get a razor out of the case. She rudely scoffed at my sister told her she didn't have a key and then yelled at another worker there if she had one, then walked away... Both workers came back and one of them opened the perfume case for another customer and handed the key to the lady we has asked...who then walked away while we were looking at her. We patiently waited to for someone else to help us when the same lady yelled at my sister from down the aisle so rudely about what she wanted. We walked down said which one she wanted and then she locked the case and walked off again...I guess policy doesn't allow us to walk our products up... then she drop the razors for someone else to ring up and walked away again. I'm always torn on Walgreens reviews, because Walgreens is my main pharmacy, and the store here is close to home (as was my local store back in Denver). Generally speaking, I utilize the pharmacy way more than the store itself, but obviously a Walgreens experience -- no matter the reason for a visit -- will involve the store too. This store is clean and attractive, and carries pretty much everything one would expect a Walgreens to carry, and maybe a smidge more. The pharmacy, while RIDICULOUSLY busy most of the time, is set up and run well. It seems to be fully staffed, with a drive-thru (it's a double-lane drive-thru but I've been in SR for four months now and the second lane has contained a Dumpster the entire time) and three counter Windows. (I'm leaving "Windows" capitalized bc I tried to un-capitalize it twice and my iPhone said "nope!") My primary reason for always using Walgreens pharmacies is that Walgreens Pharmacy corporate has GOT THEIR SHIT TOGETHER. The entire prescription-filling process is totally streamlined and SO easy to use. Seriously it makes me wonder how I took drugs before choosing Walgreens for my drug needs. (Hey. It takes some medication(s) to enable me to write long-ass reviews on Yelp!) The pharmacy staff is knowledgable and professional and pretty patient given the crap that I'm sure pharmacies everywhere experience on a daily basis. We get all of our prescriptions filled here, the drive thru pharmacy is a nice benefit when it is not 3 or 4 cars deep...lol Parking is kind of limited and metered in this particular Walgreen's lot, and the City of San Rafael does not miss a beat when checking for expired parking meters in this lot. The staff in the pharmacy tend be very efficient most of the time and are courteous for the most part. There can be a wait when purchasing non pharmacy items at the check lanes, for this store tends to be busy at times and will only have one cashier on duty. But, having worked in retail myself, I understand you have a budget for hours that can be scheduled. read more
