Charming old school looking Hong Kong style cafe food. Got the Hainan chicken, filet mignon rice plate, and the shrimp wonton noodle soup to go. When you say spicy for the filet mignon they make it spicy! Super delicious and tender. Next time I will try the congee, which seems the most popular.

The good: Vietnamese coffee is actually delicious and spot on. Tripe, very good flavor and 80% tender. The sauces were spot on. Free wifi! The okay: the chicken had a lot of broken bones in it and the meat was chewy. 20 % of the tripe was chewy and hard to eat. Not very good ambiance. The shop was more for to-go Over priced for the experience

Stopped by on our way back from Vegas because it was on YouTubers Vic and Jeff's top 10 restaurants of 2025 and we could see why! A true, hole in the wall joint that could be easily missed if you aren't looking carefully. We ordered the Hainan chicken and filet mignion and both were soooo tasty. We also ordered the Hainan rice (not pictured) which also was one of the tastiest servings of rice that I've had in a while! There's just something so special about Hainan rice that makes me want to order a bowl and just have rice and soy sauce. But I digress. I would note that the servings are a little on the smaller side, even so, the prices are great and service is friendly. It's more of a take out spot but they have tables if you want to enjoy your meal there as well.

Lately I think food here has not been too good. The Frozen food seems fine but the beef brisket is tougher now that the price is at $15+ now instead $17. I tried the beef brisket this time but I have tasted better ones from other places like The Congee. When I call in to order a lady answers and always suggests additional items like pork rigg 豬皮 or 牛筋 tendons。But they didn't do a good job on them. Also the lady at the counter is quite impatient when it comes to me trying to use the machine for payment. I missed the male owner that used to be here; he was more customer friendly. Now I don't feel motivated to order food from this place as it seems unfriendly.

Hong Coffee and Bakery serves 5 kinds of food here: congee, noodle soups (with dumplings), rice dishes (limited selection), desserts, and rice dumplings (粽子). Rice dishes here are limited to Hainanese Chicken Rice and Stir-Fried Filet Mignon with Rice. The former seems popular with Hong's patrons based on the reviews. The dish is a 2.5-star for me. As a big fan of Hainanese Chicken Rice, I have very high standards for this dish. It didn't work for me because the rice is dry and not fragrant. The chicken could use a bit more flavor. As a fan of the Singaporean/Malaysian style Hainanese Chicken Rice (yes, there are different styles of the dish, even though it's called Hainanese Chicken Rice), the sauces that come with the dish, especially the chili sauce, are essential. Regretfully, Hong's Chicken Rice didn't come with a good chili sauce, although the ginger-scallion sauce isn't bad. So what makes this place awesome? Their dumplings - 4.5/5. While the dumplings aren't the best I have had, they are well wrapped, retain their fillings, and maintain a good texture. I love that there is a succulent, juicy shrimp piece inside each of their dumplings, which gives the dumpling the needed texture to balance out the pork fillings. The dumplings come in 2 variants: wontons (雲吞) and shrimp dumplings (水餃). I prefer the latter at Hong's. Overall, the dumplings taste flavorful and have a good texture. Here's a tip: get their frozen dumplings so that you can make delicious, quality dumpling noodle soup at home. As of this writing, a bag of 50 frozen dumplings costs $30. That's 60 cents per plump, juicy dumpling you can eat anytime at home. Their Noodle soup dishes are on average 4/5. Their noodles are good, nothing special. The noodles are cooked al dente. The soup is clear and tastes good. I usually have the braised beef with dumplings noodle soup, it was good, but nothing special. I wish their beef were more tender.  Congee is good at Hong's. After all, the restaurant's Chinese name (豐衣粥食) indicates that the restaurant specializes in congee. Rice dumplings (粽子) are okay and are available only to-go. Desserts are good. Hong Kong-style milk tea is a must-have.

I love finding new mom and pop stores that serve comfort food. A close friend mentioned Hong Coffee and Bakery and recommended we try their wonton noodles. The wontons were good and loved that they used a whole shrimp which is rare here in LA. We also ordered a beef and fish ball rice noodle which was also tasty. Both the beef and fish balls had a nice bite to them but preferred the wontons. As this was our first time dining here, we also ordered a few items to take home. Hainan chicken rice was decent as they are generous with the chicken. However, I think the Hainan rice at Golden delight is a bit more fragrant. The only real objection is with the hot sauce they provide. There's nothing wrong just not what is usually used with Hainan chicken and rice. Also tried the black pepper beef and that was a definite miss in my opinion. Have yet to try their zhong but they are decently sized.

Delish!! Found this place from YouTube and will for sure be back. I got the Stir Fried Filet Mignon with Wnite Rice and it was so flavorful!! My mom got the chicken and it wasn't her cup of tea. Small place, nothing fancy but very clean and great customer service

Homestyle comfort food is served at Hong Cafe and Bakery. Upon entering this very tiny shop, there was no one at the counter. A couple of minutes later a very nice lady emerged from the back and took my order. It took about 15 minutes for me to-go order. Waiting for food cooked to order is never a problem. In fact it is a good sign. I ordered chicken jook (porridge) and won ton soup (no noodles). Chicken jook (5/5) this is a very simple dish that was flavorful and like a warm hug. Normally I add shoyu or picked veggies for flavor. But not with this jook. It was perfect as is. Won ton soup (4/5) was yummy. The won ton were large, filled with ample pork and chunks of shrimp. The soup tasted flavorful and spot on. The food was packaged very well and ample. Prices are good too! I was very happy with the dishes and would definitely return. I found this place through a Yelp search when looking for a lunch spot to try for noodles on a chilly day. So when looking at the reviews and photos, we decided to try Hong Coffee and Bakery. From the photos, we saw that it looked like a pick up and go spot. So we decided to pick it up and eat at home. We each got a different noodle soup and we also got the black pepper filet mignon plate to share. For our noodle soups, we got the shrimp wonton, beef noodle and the beef and wonton noodle soup. They use the same broth for all their soups. The broth is very tasty and it isn't too oily. You can use your noodle, but we all chose egg noodles for our soup. The portion is a nice portion where it's filling but you don't have leftovers. We also liked that they use bok choy for their vegetable. For the wonton noodle soup, I got 3 wontons and bok choy so it was pretty hearty. The beef noodle soup had lots of beef. The black pepper filet mignon was very tasty and a good portion. It's a small place with a couple of tables inside. But it's mostly a pick up and go spot. However, a few people that ordered at the same time as us, got it and ate it there. The service was good. We'll be going back to try some other items on their menu.

I'm so glad I decided to come here. Parking shouldn't be an issue as I think the large parking lot to the right of the restaurant might be for them also. Though bakery is in the name, they offer more food than baked goods. I ordered the wonton noodle soup, tripe, Hainam Chicken, pandan tofu & zongzi. The wonton noodle soup is probably one of the best I've had in the SGV. The broth is flavorful and the wonton was marinated well. Though, I think I only got 4 pieces. They also sell frozen wontons you can take home. Next time I come back, I will definitely buy one of those bags. Even though I drove 1.5 hours home, even heating the broth and wonton noodles up in the microwave, it was still pretty good. I've had this dish at other places and it's always either the wonton is under seasoned or the broth was under seasoned. But not here. The best part is that it wasn't salty. The tripe was about $16, which is pretty high in my book. When I asked the cashier how much you get, she said that the whole containers worth. But it ended up being about half of it. If I would have received a bit more, then $16 would have been justified. Anyways, the tripe was flavorful and very tender. Though it's not red in color like at those Dim Sum places, it's still very good. I would definitely buy this again despite the price tag. The Hainam chicken was just ok in my book. They ran out of Chicken rice, so I asked them to sub regular white rice. The chicken still has bones in it and not as tender and juicy as Savoy Kitchen. Savoy also has better sauces. Don't get me wrong, the chicken here is not dry or anything, it's just missing something. Also ordered some of the zongzhi's to go. But at $8 each, that's pretty hefty. Especially since the bakery next door, they sell theirs for $5, although it is a little bit smaller. Anyways, the zongzhi didn't have much flavor to it and it was on the drier side. I would not recommend this here. Overall, I will still come back for their wonton, porridge and tripe. Maybe next time I will grab some of their frozen wontons to take home to add to my ramen or something. They do accept credit cards/Apple Pay for those of you wondering. There are no public restrooms here.

The service is very friendly and accommodating (I did not want green onions and they proactively the asked if I wanted Cilantro which I thankfully declined and they asked if I wanted vegetables which I did want) with customer care. I ordered the plain shrimp and pork won ton soup. It was really perfect in size and the shrimp to pork ratio is massively pure shrimp whole giant prawns not minced or with any fillers. Top quality. A bowl of won ton comes with 8 pieces in the soup. Parking is easy or was easy ok a weekday mid-day noon lunchtime There is street parking as close as front door service proximity for the disabled and along the parallel businesses as well as adjacent residential streets for non-metered parking

Beef tripe with wonton lo mein
    LeeAnn K.

Ambiance: ordered takeout so I can't speak on the interior design Service: lady who took my order was kind while taking my order, read it back, all of our orders were correct Food: As someone who eats hong kong style food often, the noodles are authentic. Great texture of slight chew and bite to the noodles, beautiful honey comb tripe, and bouncy shrimp in the wonton. I do believe it's decently portioned for the price, I even had leftover noodle and was full. I didn't really taste the sauce come through for the lo mein, but I prefer it being like this than doused in oyster sauce. Surprised that the lo mein came with soup, but I think it taste more like bouillon than actual chicken stock. Overall, authentic hong kong food that is filling, and decently priced.

Hainan chicken - when it's good, it's very good.

The hot milk was decent too. Their fried chicken wings are a perfect snack for long-haul trips! Service by the staff was cordial. ~$28/head after tax and gratuity for breakfast with tons of leftovers!

The decor is just perfect. I'm not sure if this is a sister restaurant to the other Hong Kong Cafe on Atlantic, but it seems like it as decor, plates, and majority of menu items are the same. We came early morning, so the place was empty and service was quick. Of course we got to start with some drinks. We ordered the Lemon tea and Milk tea. Great drink options that honestly pair really good with any of the menu items. It was breakfast time so we had to order the pineapple "bo law" baos. They add butter in it to make it a bit more creamier and savory, but you can definitely request without it if you'd like! For the main dishes, we ordered the congee with preserved duck egg and pork, and the Austrailian Beef friend rice. The rich and earthy congee is a must for the cooler weather and is such a good meal to order especially on your sick days The fried rice was amazinggg with how fluffy the rice was with the smokiness of the beef -- having the sunny side egg on top was ‍ Not included in today's meal is their green onion chicken rice. All I have to say is that it's gas. I think they ran out of chicken this time, but definitely recommend it because it's simple and delicious af. Absolutely love and recommend this place ‍
