TERRIBLE PHARMACY EXPERIENCE Absolutely horrible experience at this pharmacy today. The technician, who told me her name was Deema (I'm not sure of the spelling), was rude and had an attitude from the beginning. Neither she nor the pharmacist appeared to be wearing a name tag, so I'm not even sure I have their names spelled correctly. I was told my prescription would take 20 minutes, mind you it's a pre-packaged medication And the pharmacy had no line but whatever so I said to her I would shop around the store while I waited. I came back at 1:33 PM and the pharmacy gate was closed. I could see the employees behind the gate, so I asked what happened to my prescription and explained that I had been waiting. They told me they were on break. I asked if they could please give me my prescription since I had already waited the time I was told, and the pharmacist, who I believe was named Sargis, responded with an extreme attitude: "Ma'am, come back later. We're closed for break." Then he claimed that he had paged/called me twice. I strongly dispute that. I was in the store the entire time and was never properly called or paged. If I had been, obviously I would have gone to the pharmacy. What bothered me most was the complete lack of professionalism and accountability. I followed the instructions I was given, waited in the store, and came back when I was told to. Instead of simply explaining the situation and apologizing, I was treated like I was the problem. Completely unacceptable customer service. I will be taking this up with CVS management/corporate and will not be using this pharmacy again. read more

I was seen earlier this week for a sick visit. The wait time was short . My only concern was that the sign in computer was not working !! The RNP , Arfa took care of me . She was pleasant and very professional. She performed all the necessary tests that she felt was necessary. Her exam was thorough and addressed all of my concerns. Like most CVS stores, the shelves are poorly stocked. They are often out of common items. There was a 2-for-1 sale on deodorant, but of course they only had one, so you had to pay the usual 1-for-1 price. Why not give 50% off? The treatment by the pharmacy is terrible. They don't answer the telephone anymore. You have to listen to 10 minutes of nonsense before you get to leave a message. They only call back about 50% of the time. In person, the staff seem bored and condescending, downright rude. They look and act put upon to get your medication. If there is a problem, you are sent to another line, where your problem likely wont be solved either. They are good at passing the buck. It's everyone's fault but theirs. Call your doctor, call your insurance company, don't bother us, go away. Prescriptions are randomly wrong, 90 days are ordered but they only dispense 30 days of medication, no explanation. If you ask they don't care or know why. The only positive thing I can say and the reason I come back is that I tried Walgreens and they are even worse. read more

I got a $5 off receipt so I bought some chocolate covered almonds but there was something wrong. Desiccated and covered in a white powder. I included picture below. The people there seemed nice enough but definitely wanted to warn other shoppers to stay away from the food items. I'm not sure if they sit out on those shelves for months at a time because nobody buys them. read more

Of the three CVS stores on the three mile stretch from East Avenue to Thayer, this Hold Street store is my favorite. It's always clean, usually well-stocked and mostly has adequate staff scheduled. Unlike the CVS on Thayer, there is an actual pharmacy in this drug store! Not in love with the newish corporate philosophy of greeting customers as we walk in. It distracts the cashier and most people don't even respond. Also, since the reworking of the store I'm perpetually lost. If takes twice as long to find things. Finally, revert back to a 7:30 opening so I can stop here again o my way to work! Still, my favorite drug store chain. read more

This is still far and away the best CVS in the area, as far as I'm concerned. What could make it even better? The addition of the Minute Clinic. YAY! I got my flu shot here this year and it was painless in every sense of the word. No wait, super friendly nurse, quick injection, and I was on my way. Also, now that I'm in the system I can go to any CVS in the country and they'll have my info on file for future visits. Sweet! Another reason this is a great CVS is the pharmacists. They're very helpful and knowledgeable, and they always have the prescriptions ready when they say they will. In terms of CVS as a shop, it's fine. You can find what you need -- makeup, tissues, medicine, cards and even small electronics -- quite easily thanks to the pristine layout and organized shelves. If you're not a CVS Card member, you should be. You get serious bonuses in Extra Bucks that you can use on anything but prescriptions. It's free and it's awesome. I love CVS. read more

Years ago, I wouldn't have been caught dead buying cosmetics from a drugstore. But with my clients constantly asking me for advice on OTC foundations, I decided that it was time I make my way to CVS for a little research. CVS located on Hope street has the most organized, well stocked and CLEAN cosmetic section I've come across in the city of Providence. Everything is in it's proper placed and labeled correctly. I can basically tell you about any makeup found in Nordstrom, and Macy's. So I was expecting to be completely lost in a pile of liquid, sparkly crap. The isle was nice and bright. Each brand was organized by age prevention, anti wrinkle, even skin tone and lifting and firming. Ultimately I ended up in front of Revlon. This brand caught my eye because they offer primer, foundations from very fair to very deep and awesome blush!...The jury is still out on the lipstick though. In the end, I left feeling like I made a well informed decision. Organization is the key to giving you the confidence to pick something out on your own. And you can't beat the special offers. Your CVS card will totally come in handy while shopping for makeup! read more

To the incredibly kind and patient employees who work at this CVS: You make sure the store is clean, organized, and well-stocked with the things I need, like nail polish remover, that card I should have sent my mother about a week ago, and an emergency bag of peanut M&Ms. You tell me I look nice when I come in at nine o'clock in the evening to buy feminine products and I'm wearing sweats and no make-up. Definite plus. Let's go out sometime, Hope Street CVS. You've gotten me through some hard times. Sometimes, when I waddle up like Eeyore and put my Gatorade and chicken soup on the counter, you tell me I look a little down. I appreciate that y'all notice and I reluctantly give the tiniest of smiles before I retreat to go mope in my bed while watching marathon episodes of Girls. Your pharmacist makes me laugh as he, ever-helpful in the area of consultation, suggests I do not begin drinking at six in the morning when I take medication. I am thankful that he has seemingly forgiven me for that one time I got bronchitis and came in five minutes before the pharmacy closed, so he had to get my antibiotics ready with almost no time to spare. You guys have parking, although I live a block away, so sometimes when I park here, I autopilot, walk home, and then get confused later when I try to find my car. Thanks for not laughing too much. We are in the process of transferring our prescriptions to another pharmacy, in part because of long lines but mainly because of annoying, deceptive robocalls from CVS trying to get us to change to 3-month quantities. We are retired and our income is monthly, as is our budget. When our prescriptions are ready, we get an automated call saying, "This is CVS Pharmacy for (my name), press 1 to continue." But now we also get similar calls from the same voice in which pressing 1 switches us to 3-month prescriptions. My husband has inadvertently pressed 1, only to find himself at the store without enough cash for the 3-month prescription. We have spoken to pharmacists who have called us to clarify other matters, explained our budgeting and that we will never want this option. They have made notes to that effect on our records. We have asked to be removed from the list for such calls. It does no good. I am tired of having to be vigilant about when to press 1 and when not to. CVS is a huge company and should program a "Press 3 to stop receiving these requests" option for those who don't want to be duped into bulk purchases convenient only for CVS. There are a ton of pharmacies in a short radius around the east side. This happens to be one of the ones located on Hope street. Definitely a convenient location for those living in the area or enjoying the shops near by. In terms of size, this isn't the largest of CVS stores out there. I would say it is medium in size with a mid level pharmacy in the back. They are organized and clean which I can't say the same for all the other CVS's around town. Parking can be a challenge during the midday but they do have their own parking lot. Remember your CVS card for discounts! read more

Out of all the CVS's that I've gone into. This one always seem to be the most tidy. The stock always seems to be readily available and they always have the sale items promoted when you scan your CVS card. I'm always greeted by a happy associate behind the counter and spoken to with a bit of personality! I loved when the associate asked me how my younger brother was doing - she remembered that the last time I was in there (a few weeks earlier) that I took a phone call while in line and my younger brother had just gotten into a car accident with a deer! It was such a relief to not be attacked and tried to be sold batteries and/or candy bars at the checkout. Keep up the individuality. It's what we really want!!! read more

After attempting to give them the correct fax number, the woman on the phone was incredibly rude. No one at the pharmacy communicated with me that they had even sent a request until I called again a week later. Not my job to correct their mistakes. read more

I really love this CVS. It's always clean and well-stocked. The service is friendly and helpful. It's my go-to corner store for just about everything I need when I'm too lazy to drive to Stop and Shop. They're also great for leftover Holiday candy! Post-Halloween is the best at CVS. Always amazing deals. Of course, everything is going to come at higher prices, since it's a convenience store, but those prices are fairly reasonable and the sale items are always cheaper than at the grocery store. read more

Although it's more out of the way for me than the CVS in Wayland Square on Angell, this is the best CVS in the Providence area. Lots of makeup options, lots of sundries, and an excellent pharmacy. This is the place to go for flu injections - they are very good at helping many customers. Plus, you can take your blood pressure at this CVS! It's fun to do while waiting on a busy day. And after your drug store shopping, you can treat yourself to Seven Stars and a stroll through Hope Village. What more could one want? read more

I always have a good experience at the Hope Street CVS but today was especially nice and I felt the need to share. Patricia, the photo manager, went way above and beyond for me. I needed help printing some photos and she was so patient, answered all my questions, and waited to make sure I was happy with the photos. In addition, she helped me download their app (which is amazing by the way) and fix some errors on my personal profile. This review isn't doing my experience justice but I was so happy when I left and I feel that good customer service like that needs to be recognized. Self-service check out leaves a lot to be desired. If you are over a certain height and wear bifocals it is nearly impossible to read the keypad as it does not tilt and is partially covered for security. Take a hint from Lowe's or Home Depot. read more

Pharmacy faux-pas: I frequent this CVS quite often and have never has a problem; however on this particular night I needed to conduct business at the pharmacy and was COLDLY told they were closed. (3 minutes past 9:00 mind you). There were three people working behind the desk and they were also waiting on one patron. This staff did not even ask me what I needed: picking up?, dropping off?, medical inquiry? They cared more about locking up and leaving than they did for the well being of their customer. In my book this is not acceptable. They front end worker seemed indifferent...I may switch to a different pharmacy; and am definitely not happy with the service. read more

So here's something I didn't know - pet meds at CVS. My cat needed some meds prescribed by our vet and I was able to pick them up here. (As long as they are human meds too!) And they made sure I knew about using the AAA discount too. Love it. And I also think it's awesome that my cat is now in the CVS database with birthdate and all. read more

This is about the Minute Clinic. Horrible communication when taking care of patients. If you close at 7pm and I arrive at 6:15pm, your website should say don't bother coming because there are 2 people ahead of you and even though the nice person ahead of you cancelled his visit because he couldn't get the service he needed (vaccine), and it was 6:20pm, I was turned away by the ARNP because "the computer won't let me add you" even though there was 40 minutes left in the clinic time. I would think someone smart enough to be an ARNP would be smart enough to override a system to treat a patient. It questionable that you offer services that you really can't provide. read more

I became aware without notice that my Mother's prescriptions which had been serviced by East Side Pharmacy which now is only a liquor liquor store had been transferred to this store. I contacted them and was told that they could not provide the same service for deliveries and would not provide these unless I left a credit card for them to charge on. Unacceptable! Purchased a whole bunch of stuff and also picked up some pictures at photo department. Somehow the photos did make it into my bags, either they fell out or weren't put it in the first place. After searching everywhere when I got home (car, bags, floor, walk to car), I called CVS. The woman said, "Oh, they're right here. You left them on the counter." So why didn't she call (she had my number since it was an internet order). Why is it my fault? Couldn't she have said, "Oh, I'm so sorry sir. Here they are.
