Fill your Rx elsewhere. They operate on the assumption you have time to wait on them. After reading other reviews, it's clear my experience was not unique. Daily Robodials that Rx is ready. Arrive onsite, have to wait to have insurance updated. It's not ready. Told I have to "just wait a few minutes" for pharmacist to review. Another customer waiting too. As I sit, I hear the exact same tech tell a caller " Oh, Tintin the Pharmacist just left for lunch, and won't back for at least 30 minutes". WTH? I confirm with same tech and she now sheepishly admits It's going to be a while. Peace out. Next day back to daily Robodials. This time I call ahead. Yes it's really ready. Arrive onsite and two customers waiting in the chairs. Hmmm. Rx is ready, but they want me to wait to AGAIN to talk with the Pharmacist. With two already in chairs? Not going to play that game Theresa. I decline. I'll read the contraindications myself. Been a customer of this CVS pharmacy for over a decade. Last straw. I was there last night to pick up prescription and asked him, "when are we going to call a gardner?" - he went into a rant about how this is a corporate store and it is not his responsibility. It took well over an hour the the pharmacy to fill a single pill prescription. I was told it would take 30 minutes I get that I am not the only person who was getting a prescription but come on even the people dropping off after me were getting their meds before me!!! read more

It is absolute unacceptable that covid testing is being done in the primary pharmacy drive thru lane. The wait is ridiculous due to this being done in the pharmacy lane, most often more than 30 minutes. Very disappointed! read more

The store itself I would give a 3.5/5, which for a CVS is practically perfect. The pharmacy, however, is another story. Let me start by saying that I detest CVS. I frequented Longs until the train wreck that is CVS took them all over. The first time I entered a CVS store I was blown away by how sloppy and dated it looked. It was like walking back in time. This particular store's layout isn't much different (especially its odd location), but the staff has always been kind and efficient. That's why if it wasn't for the pharmacy I might give this place a 4/5. My problem with the pharmacy stems from local and corporate conflicts, most notably with an anti-anxiety medication that I would pick up for my dog in tablet form. After several months of routine refills, one night I'm given the drug in the capsule form by a tech. I inquire about it and let her know that we've always received tablets. For whatever reason, this seemed to go clear over her head and my dog immediately suffered adverse behavioral side effects. I went back about a week later and spoke with the pharmacist who made everything right. I didn't get her name, but she was a young lady working the evening shift. I appreciate what she did and if it wasn't for her this would be 1/5 and I never would have come back to this store, period. Some of the techs here I feel don't care about their line of work nor do they realize the importance of what they do. They're well educated and handling drugs; from my experience and the common theme from this page is that there's something amiss here. I calmly explained to this tech that we've always received the drug in tablet form and she just did not care. The next issue stems from a corporate conflict that occurred around the same time when some bozo called me up asking if I'd be interested in purchasing a three month supply of the anti-anxiety drug for a discount instead of the standard two-month that I had been accustomed to. I didn't think much of it and said sure, I'd be interested. What was bizarre is that this call originated from the store in La Mesa. We'll get back to this in a second. A day or two later I get a call from my vet who wrote the original script. They're a little confused because CVS is calling them to refill a three-month prescription even though we had just refilled the standard two-month. I NEVER gave ANY permission to CVS to refill the prescription. I said I'd be interested, but I NEVER gave them permission to refill it let alone contact my vet. The two-month prescription was prescribed BY MY VET. How dare CVS go behind the back of a medical professional to try and make more money. Disgusting. I called the number of the bozo who originally phoned me and it connected me to the store in La Mesa where I spoke to some careless sleuth in the pharmacy. I explained what happened and she said the call originated out of a call center and not the actual pharmacy. I was still confused. Why did they put in the order without any consent? Why did the call originate from this La Mesa store? She reiterated the exact same information, but this time she was clearly getting impatient with me so I hung up. I then contacted CVS Pharmacy corporate's customer service and told them what happened and that I wasn't happy and demanding to know why they're allowing their people to put in prescriptions that were never ordered. Like clockwork, some goofball writes me a one sentence reply that sounded like they were completely clueless to why I was upset, very similar to the rude individual in La Mesa. Look, am I wrong here? A sales guy from CVS calls me up asking if I'd be interested in a 3-month supply of the drug. I said I'd be interested. We NEVER agreed on any deal and I certainly never gave permission for ANYONE to contact my vet about it, let alone refill the damn thing after I had just picked up the newest prescription two weeks prior. If anything, I thought the bozo who called was merely conducting a survey! When I spoke to my vet they said that this is what CVS does to try and make more money and they've done it to other customers and that it's unethical. Awful. Now, is this corporate issue the fault of this particular store? No. But this all happened around the same time and I have taken my business elsewhere. I have never liked CVS in general and having to deal with the pharmacy is a nightmare. Do as I did and look elsewhere. read more

I think this one of the worst CVS you can find in the area. In Rancho Bernardo you can find 2 huge and wonderful ones, so I suggest you to go to those instead. This one is lacking in many aspects and is so confusing that you even get lost trying to remember what did you want to buy in first instance. It is practical, though, if you are in a hurry to get something pharmacy related and you are driving the area. Bad location, I would say. read more

I visit this store often and have not left a review about this cashier only because I do like the store and most of the workers are helpful. I do not understand the anger with this cashier. She does nOt like being asked questions and when you walk up to her to check you out she doesn't speak or smile. Her attitude is horrible. The lady in front of me tried to have a conversation with her asking about her day and what was wrong. The cashier replied she needed patience. Why come to work knowing you are working with the public if you don't have patience. Keep in mind it was around 11:00 am when I was at the store. Her name is Alexandria. If you can avoid her please do. The store should remove her from customer contact. I spend a lot of money in this store. I should,anyone should be able to enter and exit with a smile and Thank you. The manager at cvs is very rude and he got made at a child for misplacing a ball at a wrong item at a random spot and yelled at him and said he was going to keep him there and tell his parents to pick him up. Many people misplace items but he targeted this young boy and he is a very rude manager. Cvs if you don't fire him then I will be very disappointed in your service read more

Awful minute clinic. I went here last week to submit a sample for COVID-19 testing and I have not received the results. I don't know if they lost my sample or what. I would never recommend anyone go here for COVID testing. read more

This location is not well-staffed. It almost always feels empty and you have to hunt down the nearest staff member if you have a question. I think they just need a few more employees per shift. The aisles are perpetually in a state of disarray. Prices are fine, and the deals are ok, but I try to aim for the RB CVS rather than this location. Besides, the RB location is open 24/7 and this one closes fairly early. They have a drive-through pharmacy window, that I've never used. There's a Red Box machine outside. Other than that, my experiences have left me with that strange 2-star feeling. I keep looking for other features that make it better, like they have a Chase ATM. But, nah, I'm sticking with 2 stars. read more

Huge shoutout to Jeff! My doctor dropped the ball on fulfilling my refill request for a medication I take everyday, at max dose, for a serious medical condition. Jeff was nice enough to give me several days worth because of the long weekend. My medicine puts me through some serious withdrawals so I very much appreciate him going out of the way to get me a few days worth after I had already been in a few days ago when I was initially supposed to pick it up. This CVS needs cosmetic and customer service freshening. I avoid it when I can. This store looks contemporary from the outside, but you step back in time to the 1970's when you walk inside. You must walk through a short but dingy cave-like hallway to enter the store. Once you reach the inside of the store you are greeted to an unattractive warehouse. Industrial florescent lights provide the inadequate lighting; rows upon rows of industrial metal shelves lie on thin "press-on" carpet squares. It looks like someone's garage bedroom remodel....it's just missing the tacky faux oak paneling; really third-world. I mainly use the store for its pharmacy; Targets no longer has one and Albertsons is closed in the evening. However this pharmacy is slow; expect to wait 3-5 hours after the Doctor has called it in. Then, you must wait a little bit longer if you want to speak to an actual pharmacist about your prescription. The location of this Rite Aid is convenient to my home, but ingress and egress can be problematic. Ingress and egress is only convenient if you are traveling Camino del Norte Road westbound or Paseo Lucido Road northbound; otherwise, you will be performing a U-Turn. I don't like this CVS, but unless I want to travel, I'm stuck with it. read more

I made an appointment for Covid 19 test for traveling abroad; I have to show my negative test result 72 hours before taking the air plane. On Thursday afternoon, I went there for drive through COVID test site ( I made an appointed a week ago due to heavy demand of test) and while waiting in the line, suddenly they said the system was down and they cannot do the test. I was so upset because I had to get a test and all my schedule was depended on it ( it was 48 hours before my flights and test result comes out a day). it is too hard to get another appointment within a day. Finally I ruined my whole schedule and got severe financial damages. The thing I really upset about is the fucking unprofessional attitude of their workers. For example, a southeastern bitch just kept saying that possible damaging on my schedule is none of their business. I am seriously considering sue this damn place. This location is worst pharmacy I have ever been In my life. read more

This review is for the pharmacy... I came here to fill a prescription for antibiotics. I'm allergic to penicillin, and didn't know the doctor made a mistake and gave me a penicillin-based antibiotic. After getting my prescription, I paid and was about to pull away from the drive-thru when the lady behind the counter said "Your file says your allergic to penicillin. This drug has penicillin in it, but you'll probably be fine so I gave it to you anyway". Thanks, CVS. read more

I called to ask how the flu shots work. I was told I MAY have to wait 15-20 minutes and would be given a 20% off shopping pass. The wait was 30 minutes and there was no one else there! I could see the pharmacist just standing there talking. The 20% shopping pass was also not true! Again there was no one in line but I had to wait for the 2 cashiers to finish their conversation before they would help me. Then I was told that the 20% off was not valid unless I signed up for a CVS card. No thanks! read more

Great service. I prefer to do my prescriptions here than go to the Navy Hospital or the Veteran's Hospital where I can get them filled for free. They staff is friendly and fast. Whenever I have a question they are always willing to answer what I need. Great place to go. I have also picked up a few knick-knacks there too when I was in so I have a holder for my normal medications. read more

One thing that makes this location unique is their drive thru pharmacy. I utilized it once, the services was the same as if I had parked and walked in. In fact, that was the only convenience for me, I didn't have to park and walk in. another car was behind me so I had to drive around and get in line again. Unless you are in your nighties or if it is a big production to unload your car (handicapped or multiple small children) just go in instead of drive thru. read more

Unbelievable poor customer service. I went in well before they closed and they wouldn't fill my prescription. I explained to the round faced pharmacist with the dark hair that we just came from the hospital and I had my new born premature babies in the car. I told her they were screaming and their mother was in extreme pain from her C-Section. I needed the drugs so I could get them home and feed them. She refused to help because it was "Too close to closing time". They had the drugs but told me I had to drive 20 min out of the way to another store with a post operation c-section wife and screaming premature babies... AND THEY DIDN'T EVEN HELP BY CALLING AHEAD TO THE OTHER PHARMACY!!! We had to wait an additional 40 min to get the prescription filled. They were just as callous and obtuse to our situation as the other CVS. SHAME ON CVS pharmacy staff. The rest of the store is good to go. read more

Not a huge fan of this CVS, but it is on my way home. So I do find myself here quite a bit to pick up misc things and prescriptions from time to time. There's always a line here, and they rarely have enough people to open up a second register. The staff is pretty helpful when I need, and they almost always have what one would typically want from a corner drug store. This is just a couple blocks from the middle and high school, so coming just when school gets out, between 2 and 3:30, is not a good time if you're in a hurry. read more
